 INTRODUCTION

JUDICIAL REVIEW OF TRIBUNALS

Judicial review is the guardian of legal fairness in the administrative process. It is
similar to an appeal in that it is a way to challenge a decision that negatively
affects your client.

For example, to challenge the decision by a judge at a trial in a motor vehicle

categories, there may be grounds for in appropriate circumstances than you
accident case, you would appeal to the appropriate appellate court. To challenge a
decision of the Director's Delegate of the Financial Services Commission of
Ontario upholding an arbitral order of an arbitrator regarding accident benefits, you
can bring a judicial review application.

QUASI JUDICIAL AUTHORITIES

A quasi-judicial body is an entity such as an arbitrator or tribunal board, generally
of a public administrative agency, which has powers and procedures resembling
those of a court of law or judge, and which is obliged to objectively determine
facts and draw conclusions from them so as to provide the basis of an official
action. Such actions are able to remedy a situation or impose legal penalties, and
may affect the legal rights, duties or privileges of specific parties.

OBJECTIVE OR AIM

The project is an attempt to study the need of quasi judicial authorities and study
the judicial review of tribunals in a democratic state especially in Indian
perspective.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

The researcher has relied on Doctrinal methodology i.e. the method of my

analysis is descriptive and analytical. While researching on the topic, various
books and internet sources have been consulted. For thorough study of project
topic, all the possible means and reasons have been used.
