his responsibilities were to:
Plan and administers medically prescribed physical therapy treatment for patients
suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint bone diseases, to restore function,
relieve pain, and prevent disability
Review physicians referral prescription and patients condition medical records to
define physical therapy treatment required
Test & measures patients strength, motor development, sensory perception,
functional capacity and respiratory and circulatory efficiency, records findings to
develop or revise treatment programs
Plan prepares written treatment program based on evaluation of patient data
Administer manual exercises to improve maintain function
Instruct, motivates, and assists patient to perform various physical activities, like
non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and in
use of assistant supportive devices, like crutches, canes, and prostheses
Administer treatments involving application of physical agents, using equipment,
like hydrotherapy tanks and whirlpool baths, moist packs, ultraviolet infrared lamps,
and ultrasound machines
Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages adjusts treatments to achieve
maximum benefit
Administer massage, applying knowledge of massage techniques body physiology
Administer traction to relieve pain, using traction equipment
Record treatment, response, and progress in patients chart or enter information into
computer
Instruct patient family in treatment procedures to be continued at home
Evaluate, fits, and adjusts prosthetic and orthotic devices recommends modification.
Confer with physician other practitioners to obtain additional patient information,
suggest revisions in treatment program, and integrate physical therapy treatment
with other aspects of patients health care
Orient, instructs, and directs work activities of assistants, aides, and students.
