NEGATIVE BEHAVIOR TRACKING SYSTEM

How will you track behavior so that students know where they are on the “ladder of
consequences?”
(for example: Traffic Light, Card Chart, Checklist, Clipboard, Behavior Rubric, etc.)

Star Chart – all students start the day on Blue. Students who show excellence
can move up to Silver. Students can stay on Blue for one reminder of the
classroom rule they are breaking, but move to Green for a formal verbal
warning. Each further infraction moves the student farther down the behavior
ladder. Students who have moved below Blue can move back up the ladder
with continued good behavior.
• Silver – 2 raffle tickets, sticker on behavior chart
• Blue – 1 raffle ticket
• Green – Class cheer at the end of the day
• Yellow – Time Out in classroom
• Orange – Time Out in another classroom
• Red – Phone call or note home

POSITIVE BEHAVIOR TRACKING SYSTEM

How will students know that you recognize their good behavior?
(for example: “Caught Being Good” Poster, Team Points, etc.)

INDIVIDUAL – END OF DAY

• Students will receive the Class Cheer or Raffle Tickets (determined by
end of day color)
• Raffle tickets can be used for: certificates, prizes (pencils, stickers,
bookmarks, homework passes), special jobs or privileges
o 3 tickets will be pulled from the raffle box each Friday
o All students who end the week with at 5 or more raffle tickets in
the box will get their name/picture on the “Out of this World”
board

INDIVIDUAL – ANYTIME
• Positive phone call home
• Positive note home
• Special note from teacher
• Verbal praise (1-on-1, whole class)
• Extra raffle tickets

CLASS LEVEL
• Kernels for Kindness – jar is filled with popcorn kernels for each act of
kindness. Jar will be displayed in a prominent place in the classroom.
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN
• Stars of Success – a chart with 50 stars will be displayed on our Morning
Message board. A star will be colored in each time a content area block
(Word Work, Reading, Math, SS/Science, Writing) is completed without a
student moving down past the Green Star.

BEHAVIOR TRACKING SYSTEM – FOR TEACHER RECORDS

How will you keep track of student behavior over time?
(for example: end-of-day recording sheet, daily checklist, etc.)

At the end of each day, students will color in the box on their Behavior Report
sheet with the color of they star on which they ended the day. Silver stars will
receive a sticker.

While students are coloring, the teacher will fill in an end-of-day recording
sheet.
• X-axis: dates of the month
• Y-axis: student names
• Each box will be filled in with a letter corresponding to an end of day
color
o S=silver, B=blue, G=green, Y=yellow, O=orange, R=red
• Monthly record sheets will be kept in a binder as documentation for the
year

COMMUNICATING WITH FAMILIES

How will you communicate your expectations to families at the beginning of the school year?
How and when will you communicate student behavior to families during the course of the
school year?

Students will have a Behavior Progress Report in their Home folder. At the
end of each day, students will color in that day’s box with the color of the star
on which they ended that day. Silver stars will receive a sticker. There is also
a space for any additional comments that the teacher wants to send to the
parents. Parents must sign the Behavior Progress Report each night and
return to school in the Home folder each day. Reports will be collected each
Monday and replaced with a new one.
