1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND

Jangkrik Field (also abbreviated as JKK) is located about 70 km from the coast, in the Muara
Bakau permit area, Makassar Strait, offshore Borneo of Indonesia, at a water depth ranging
from 250 to 500 m. Current production capacity of Jangkrik is 450 MMSCFD. Jangkrik lean gas
production flows through 42 pipeline and gets mixed with rich gas from other producers
(TEPI, VICO, Mubadala) in the region. In order to equalize the produced lean gas, LPG
Injection of approximately 40.000 ton conducts before the lean gas entering LNG Bontang
Plant. LPG Injection process cost a lot; it costs about 500 USD/ton (equal to 20 million USD
per month or 240 million USD per year).

in 42" pipeline it causes in total loss production revenue. Besides that, potential back When
shutdown happens pressure in 42 pipeline to TEPI facility in case the export gas pressure
from TEPI going down as their production profile will naturally decrease significantly after
passing through the plateau phase. Contrary to the above, the increment of TEPI production
will limit the production of Jangkrik in term of the 42 Pipeline capacity. Jangkrik maximum
production is limited by the available amount of rich gas that can enter Bontang LNG plant to
enrich the lean gas due operational limitation. By maximizing lean gas to domestic and
swapping with existing rich gas, Jangkrik production can be increased temporarily without
modifying Bontang LNG plant.

2. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

To increase jangkrik production, the possible scenario is by changing ENIs lean gas with rich
gas because ENI existing lean gas is mixed by rich gas from other producer resulting ENIs
lean gas to be contaminated. To make sure the productivity of ENIs lean gas is not disturbed,
lean gas pipeline should be converted into new pipeline that will not contaminate the gas. The
new pipeline will connect from Onshore Receiving Facility (ORF) to Badak Export Manifold
(BEM) through Nilam.

The selection of the pipe will be chosen by simulating different pipeline size from 20, 24, 30,
32, and 36 with OLGA. The simulation using several basis to determine the optimum pipeline
size to deliver 600 MMSCFD jangkrik gas to BEM. The result shows that the usable pipeline size
is 30, 32, and 36 because the FPU departure pressure to deliver 600 MMSCFD is under
specified basis (Max. 103 barg) and maximum gas flowrate is 310 MMSCFD for the three
pipeline size. The pipeline size 20 and 24 cant be used as the maximum gas flowrate is only
260 and 290 MMSCFD. Technically, the pipeline size 30 is already capable to deliver the
required gas flowrate, but for further consideration as the Jangkrik production will be improved
to 1000 MMSCFD, the pipeline size 36 is chosen to accommodate increased capacity.

Based on simulation results, review, and analysis, using 36 pipeline is considered to be the
best solution

By using OLGA simulation, therere several important points:

The optimum pipeline size for delivering 300 MMSCFD from ORF to KM-21.65 is 30.

Nilam pressure by delivering 300 MMSCFD to KM-21.65 by using:

o New 30 pipeline : 641 psig (44.2 barg)

o New 36 pipeline : 641 psig (44.2 barg)

KM-21.65 pressure by delivering 300 MMSCFD to KM-21.65 by using:

o New 30 pipeline : 925.7 psig (63.8 barg)

o New 36 pipeline : 925.6 psig (63.8 barg)

The bottle neck for delivering 600 MMSCFD Jangkrik gas to BEM is on 20 Handil-Nilam
pipeline.

3. NEW PIPELINE FROM ORF TO KM-21.65

For the development, 60 km long pipeline from Onshore Receiving Facility (ORF) to KM-21.65,
through Nilam will be built and the existing 42 pipeline from PPA to BEM will be adjusted, in
order to reduce LPG injection and increasing production capacity of Jangkrik.

The new pipeline concept will replace existing design by creating new 36 pipeline.
From ORF to Nilam, 15 km 36 pipeline will be connected to the existing 20 pipeline in the 2 nd
Tie-In. In order to do that, the Handil and Mutiara stream will be diverted into the 42 pipeline
from Peciko into Badak Manifold. From Nilam to Badak Manifold will be connected by 15 km
36 pipeline. From Badak Manifold, the stream will be diverted to PTB and SKG by 36 AB
pipeline.

3.2 FEED BASIS

The new pipeline from ORF to KM-21.65 builds to replace existing 42 pipeline. The
basis for new pipeline from ORF to KM-21.65 is:
FPU departure pressure : 103 barg
LNG Badak arrival pressure : 41.2 barg (598 psig)
Gas Flowrate:
o From FPU : 600 MMSCFD
o From Nilam : 30 MMSCFD
o To SKG : 450 MMSCFD (adjusted rich gas top-up will be from BEM)
o 42 PPA-BEM : adjusted

3.3 DESIGN OPTIONS

Therere five new pipeline options that purposed. The proposed pipelines size ranging from
20, 24, 30, 32, and 36. The proposed options were simulated based on OLGA simulation
using assigned basis.
Table 3-1 Simulation of 20 Pipeline

Table 3-1 represents simulation result of 20 pipeline. With 600 MMSCFD gas flow rate from
FPU, 30 MMSCFD from Nilam, and 450 MMSCFD to SKG it needs 102.2 barg departure FPU
pressure (departure pressure in the pipeline should be lower than assigned basis). The
maximum gas flowrate that could pass the 20 pipe is 210 MMSCFD, which is smaller than
expected. As result, 20 pipeline cant be use to replace the existing pipeline.

Table 3-2 Simulation of 24 Pipeline

Table 3-2 shows the second proposed pipeline sized 24. The gas flowrate from FPU is 600
MMSCFD, Nilam 30 MMSCFD, and 450 MMSCFD to SKG. Departure pressure from the FPU in
24 pipeline is 102.4 barg. Final flowrate in 24 pipeline is 290 MMSCFD. Although the flowrate
bigger than the first option, the flowrate still smaller than expected. In short, 24 pipeline
doesnt fit for replacing the existing pipeline.
Table 3-3 Simulation of 30 Pipeline

For 30 pipeline in table 3-3, when 600 MMSCFD from FPU, 30 MMSCFD from Nilam, and 450
MMSCFD to SKG gases flow into the pipeline, it will have 102.9 barg departure pressure from
FPU. 310 MMSCFD final flowrate generates form this pipeline, which is bigger than the previous
options. So, it considered technically acceptable. Although 30 pipeline generates 310 MMSCFD
flow rate, this pipeline still not feasible to replace the existing one, because it cant occupy gas
flowrate higher than 600 MMSCFD in the future.

Table 3-4 Simulation of 32 Pipeline

The 32 pipeline simulation shown in table 3-4. In 32 pipeline, the gas flow from the FPU is
600 MMSCFD 600 MMSCFD from FPU, 30 MMSCFD from Nilam, and 450 MMSCFD to SKG. It
has 102.7 barg departure pressures from FPU. The Maximum flowrate in 32 pipeline is equal
with 30 pipeline, reaches 310 MMSCFD. The 32 pipeline considered technically feasible,
although it cant handle more than 600 MMSCFD flowrate in future development.

Table 3-5 Simulation of 36 Pipeline

The last & biggest new pipeline option sized 36. As shown in table 3-5, the gas flowrate in this
pipeline is same with other pipeline which is 600 MMSCFD from FPU, 30 MMSCFD from Nilam,
and 450 MMSCFD to SKG. The maximum gas flowrate in this pipeline is same with 30 & 32
pipeline. The 36 pipeline is technically acceptable. But, unlike 30 & 32 pipeline, this pipeline
is considered feasible to replace the existing 42 pipeline because this pipeline could handle
more than 600 MMSCFD flowrate.
