NOUN CLAUSE with QUESTION WORDS

A CLAUSE is a group of related words.


It contains a subject and a verb.

A noun clause is a dependent clause which cant stand alone as a
sentence & must be connected to an independent clause (main clause).
Question words can be used to introduce a noun clause:
- what - where - when - how
- why - who - whom - which
- whose

I.e.: a. Where does she live?_____ I dont know where she lives.
b. What did he say?__________ I didnt hear what he said.
c. When do they arrive? ___ Do you know when they arrive?
d. Who lives there? _____ Lets take a look who lives there.
e. Why is she angry?______ Please tell me why she is angry.

NOUN CLAUSE with WHETHER or IF

A noun clause that starts with WHETHER or IF is used to answer YES/NO

NOUN CLAUSE with THAT

A noun clause can be can be used as the subject/ object of a sentence.

That + subject + V + object

The word that above has no meaning. It only marks the beginning
of the clause.

2. As an OBJECT
