Superweld 309L
Welding Consumables

Superweld 309L is a rutile basic coated low carbon grade electrode

of the 23% chromium and 12% nickel type. It is recommended for
welding corrosion resistant and heat resistant steels of the AISI 309
type, which is often used for furnace parts, aircraft components,
heat exchangers and chemical processing equipment.
Superweld 309L can also be used for welding dissimilar carbon
manganese steels and low alloy steels, welding stainless steels to
mild steels and as a buffer for hardfacing applications.

Re-baking
Dry electrodes at 300C for 2 hours.

Oerlikon Supranox 309L

Welding Consumables
Supranox 309L is a rutile coated low carbon electrode for welding
23% chromium and 12% nickel type austenitic stainless steels. It
is used for joining dissimilar steels such as mild steel to stainless
steel and for depositing austenitic corrosion resistant claddings.
The weld metal deposited contains approximately 15% delta
ferrite. The highest operating temperature for dissimilar joints
should be limited to 300C.

Metrode Thermet 309H

Welding Consumables

Thermet 309H is designed for welding similar austenitic high

carbon 309 castings; lower carbon cast and wrought alloys
are matched by Thermet 309H. Depending on the balance of
chromium and nickel, the high carbon castings may be fully
austenitic or may contain a small percentage of ferrite. These
alloys have good resistance to oxidation, sulphidation and
abrasion at temperatures up to about 1 050C, with applications
in furnace parts, petrochemical and cement plants. They are
generally not used for critical load bearing structures.

Re-baking
Dry electrodes at 200 - 300C for 1 - 2 hours.
