Let the Prophets Speak

If God in his wisdom were to send a prophet to us
today, to stand on the courthouse steps and preach to us
like Jeremiah did to the ancient Israelites, what do you
suppose that prophet would have to say to the United
States and Canada and to the English-speaking world
today? What would his message be?
In the first place, the mere presence of a prophet is
reason to become apprehensive. God does not usually
send a prophet to tell us how well we are doing. No
reason to send a prophet down here to us to pat us on
the head and say, You are a wonderful people and
youre doing a great job.
What Would a Prophet Say to Us Today?
So when the prophet shows up and begins to speak, its
time for us to sit up and take notice because God is not
happy with something.
I think the prophet that God might send to us today
would say, Thus saith the Lord, the Almighty, the
Creator of heaven and earth, who gave you this good
land. You have become staggeringly rich. There has
never been a nation as rich as you are and yet you never
ask, Where does all of this come from? You never ask
Why do we have all this while the rest of the world
goes hungry? Half of the people you call poor in your
land own their own homes. Three quarters have air
conditioning. The living space of a typical poor
American family actually exceeds that of the average
individual living in London, Paris, Bonn or many other
major cities in the wealthy European nations. Three
quarters of those you call poor own a car or a truck and
a third of them own two. Virtually 100% of poor
households own a refrigerator and a color television.
Half of them have two or more televisions, while about
two out of three have a clothes washer and a cable or
satellite television. Three of four have a microwave and
a DVD player. And these are your poor people.

attentively that the Lord your God would set you on
high above all the nations of the Earth and just look at
where you are today. You stand alone as the worlds only
super power. There is no nation like you. I said, That
these blessings would come on you, if you would just
listen to the Lord your God. I said, Blessed shall you
be in the city, Blessed shall you be in the field, Blessed
shall be the fruit of your body, and the fruit of the
ground and the fruit of the cattle, the increase of your
cattle, and the flocks of your sheep. Blessed would be

We Want Your Heart . . .
The Bible says that where your treasure is there will
your heart be also. CEM needs people with a heart to
serve God and to get the Gospel out as effectively as
possible. Time is short. Things pointing to the end-
times are speeding up. CEM needs to warn people
and be the support group they need so desperately.
Time could come when we cant speak the truth so
freely. Every dollar CEM receives is used prudently,
recognizing the sacrifice youve made.

America, America, Wake Up!

Let them bring forth and show us what will happen;
Let them show the former things, what they were, so we
may consider them, and know the latter end of them
(Isaiah 41:22 NKJV).
There is little doubt if we are to know what will
happen to this country, we must look to the past,
specifically, to ancient Israel.
One may question if we are indeed the direct
descendants of the Lost Ten Tribes, but there is little
debate that we are spiritual Israel. Biblical history gives
us detailed accounts, confirmed many times by secular
history, of Israels fate when the people disobeyed God.
God is predictable, he does not change; he is the
same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. In Deuteronomy
28, known as the blessings and curses chapter, God
tells Israel, point by point, what they could expect
should they not obey him. Again, in Deuteronomy 8,
paraphrasing, God says,
Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God
by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and
His statutes which I command you today: lest when you
have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses
and dwell in them; and when your herds and flocks
multiply, and your silver and gold are multiplied, and all
that you have is multiplied; Then your heart be lifted up,
and you forget the Lord your God. . . and say in your
heart, My power and the might of my hand have gained
me this wealth . . . you shall surely perish.
When the Pilgrims first set foot on Plymouth Rock,
they believed this country was the Promised Land, the
new Israel. They began to build a country based upon
Gods Laws and raised their children to believe the same
ideals. A hundred-plus years later when Thomas
Jefferson penned the Declaration of Independence, the
country as a whole still believed in those principles. The
founding fathersWashington, Jefferson, Madison,
Franklin, and Adamsall believed this country was
founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs, and anyone who
thinks otherwise, simply has not read, in depth, the
history of this country nor read the writings of these
men.
Today, the country is divided. This division is the
result of two distinct views on two separate issues. First,
there are those who believe the country is losing the

Judeo-Christian belief system upon which it was
founded, and adopt the views of those of a more liberal
persuasion, who advocate abortion and homosexuality
as acceptable lifestyles. The second major schism is
economicsbetween the Republicans, who believe in a
free marketplace without government interference as
Hayek advocated, and those who subscribe to Keynesian
economics (read Economics and the World Order Part 1,
Living to Win, January, 2012).
Greed, the love of money, and pride has corrupted
our government, leaving in its wake injustice. Huge
multinational banks and corporations wield the power.
Abraham Lincoln, in a letter to Colonel William Elkins
wrote, Corporations have been enthroned and an era
of corruption in high places will follow, and the money
power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign
by working upon the prejudices of the people until all
wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is
destroyed.
The economic power these corporations possess is
staggering. Corporations do not have souls. Their sole
purpose is to make money.
We have forgotten God. Hubris is pervasive. We
have forgotten that God blesses this country. Our
forefathers understood this, but we think, By our
power and the might of our hand we have achieved
greatness. The Prophet Hosea in 4:6 states again the
consequences of forgetting God: Because you have
forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your
children. Examine the generation coming of age
frightening. Many of Gods people reside in the Bible
Belt and as such, they are a God-fearing people; but
doing business extensively throughout the country, one
realizes a large number of Americans simply have no
fear of God. It is interesting, geographically, where they
reside. I read a statistic recently that said less than 20
percent of the populace attends church on a weekly
basis. In England, it is less than 12 percent.
My job requires that I spend much of my time on
airplanes crisscrossing the country. I am reminded often
of Daniel 12:4: But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and
seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run
to and fro, and knowledge shall increase. The
information age has brought everything ever written to

devices most carry. With a few keystrokes, we can access
books, magazines, articles, law libraries, the Library of
Congress, the constitution of Swedenthe knowledge is
endless. If one travels as I do, and spends much time in
airports from coast to coast, one can easily attest to
running to and fro. However, one does not have to
travel by airplane to make the same observation. All
know we live in a dangerous world.
Because we are protected by oceans, many people
mistakenly believe we are insulated from wars in foreign
lands. The United Nations will prevent another world

When I was in real estate, I went to a dentists house one
night to put it on the market. He was a devout Christian. I
learned in the conversation that he attended the Rose
Heights Church of God, founded about the same time as
the Sabbath-keeping church I attended. In less than ten years
the church the dentist attended had nearly 5000 people
attend their worship service and we had maybe 200. I was
taken aback by the success of this church and asked the
dentist why he thought the Rose Heights Church of God
had grown so fast. He immediately said it was because the
people were a caring people and took care of those who
came through their doors.
Ive given that a lot of thought over the years and have
wondered if this Sunday-keeping church had the keys we
were missing. If so, what would they entail and how could
we get them? Was the key having a lady assigned to purchase
a box of assorted greeting cardssympathy, get well,
birthday, congratulations, etc.and pass the appropriate
card around for all the brethren to sign? When she stamped
the envelope and mailed the card, had they fulfilled their
Christian duty? Had people flocked to their church because
they got a card signed by people in their church? Or is there
more to being a proactive Christian? Does it require a
hands-on touch, where you literally show up, show genuine
love, and do something useful? What did Jesus have to say
about this?
When he finally arrives, blazing in beauty and all his
angels with him, the Son of Man will take his place on his
glorious throne. Then all the nations will be arranged before
him and he will sort the people out, much as a shepherd

war. After all, we are a civilized people. There is nothing
civilized about war. Ask anyone who has seen war
upfront and close. The horror one human being can
inflict upon another has not changed in 3,000 years.
Re-read the Minor Prophets in the Bible. Ron Dart

Prophets. These messages are enjoyable and enlightening.
It would behoove you to listen to this series. God calls
us a stiff-necked people. We are rebellious, prideful. We
learn nothing from the stories of ancient Israel or we do
not believe them. As the philosopher Santayana once
said, Those who do not learn from history are doomed
to repeat it. We have crossed the Rubicon.

goats to his left.
Then the King will say to those on his right, Enter,
you who are blessed by my Father! Take whats coming to
you in this kingdom. Its been ready for you since the worlds
foundation. And heres why: I was hungry and you fed
me. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink. I was homeless
and you gave me a room. I was shivering and you gave me
clothes, I was sick and you stopped to visit. I was in prison
and you came to me.
Then those sheep are going to say, Master, what are
you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and
feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever
see you sick or in prison and come to you? Then the King
will say, Im telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one
of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was
meyou did it to me.
Then he will turn to the goats the ones on his left,
and say, Get out, worthless goats! Youre good for nothing
but the fires of hell. And why? BecauseI was hungry and
you gave me no meal. I was thirsty and you gave me no
drink, I was homeless and you gave me no bed, I was
shivering and you gave me no clothes, Sick and in prison,
and you never visited. Then those goats are going to say,
Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see
you hungry or thirsty or homeless or shivering or sick or in
prison and didnt help? He will answer them, Im telling the
solemn truth: When ever you failed to do one of these
things to someone who was being overlooked or ignored,
that was meyou failed to do it to me.

your babies. You would have babies being born, and
your sheep would be having many young lambs. Blessed
shall be your basket in your store. You would be blessed
when you come in and blessed when you go out. And
the Lord shall cause your enemies who rise up against
you to be smitten before your face. They will come out
against you one way in a single column and flee before
you seven ways. The Lord shall command the blessing
upon you and your storehouses and all that you set your
hand to do. He shall bless you in the land which the
Lord your God gives you.
Look at where you are today. Look at what your
armies are able to do. Look at the power youre able to
project around the world. I said I would establish you as
a special people to myself, a people apart, if you would
keep my Commandments and walk in my way. And all
the people of the earth would see that you are called by
the name of the Lord, and they would be afraid of you.
Thats what I was after, that the nations of the earth
would look at you and wonder what made the
difference? They would look at you as a people and say,
Those are Gods people. Look at what a difference it
makes if you follow their God.
I said I would make you plenteous in goods and
look at you now, you have so many goods that they have
spilled over into the houses of the poor. You have so
much food that some of you have to waddle through the
marketplace. I said I would open to you my good
treasure. You would get rain when you needed it so that
you would be able to lend to all the nations, and look
what you have been able to do with what you call foreign
aid. Just imagine, if all those nations receiving your
largess, your liberal giving, knew that I am your God,
and thats the reason why you have enough to give them
what you give them.
I said I would make you the head and not the tail. I
said that you would always come out on top and not
underneath. I said all of this, if you would just obey the
Commandments of the Lord your God. Do you
remember that I said all these things? You can find it in
Deuteronomy 28.
What Happens If You Do Not Obey God?
But then I went on to say what would happen if the
people didnt obey my laws. And because I have not

Then those goats will be herded to their eternal
doom, but the sheep to their eternal reward (Matthew
25:31-46, The Message).
Brethren, this is hands-on, proactive Christianity
you get your hands dirty. You give of your time and your
money. You make a sacrificial investment in your
brothers and sistersin people. But how?
Brethren, this is hands-on, proactive
Christianity
you get your hands dirty.
All you have to do is go to a hospital or nursing
home and youll see plenty of people you can help in the
name of your Savior, Jesus Christ. These peoples needs
will vary. Some may need you to sit with a sick loved one
while the care-giver goes home, takes a shower, and gets
some rest. If the sick or elderly person is home, taking a
pot of soup, casserole dish, or even a loaf of bread
made in your bread maker (how much trouble is that?),
can be an enormous help. A woman care-giver will find a
mans help in doing the honey-do projects around the
house invaluable. Calling the care-giver before grocery
shopping to pick up a few needed items can be an
enormous help as well. Put yourself in the shoes of the
sick person and/or the care-giver. Think about what you
would need and what you would hope someone with a
servants heart would do to help you. You should be able
to think of a long list of things you can do.
It was down-to-earth Christianity that built the Rose
Heights Church of God. You have the opportunity to
practice this and make your church a caring church
and to gain an eternal reward. What will you do about it?
Just send a card, or get busy caring for the needs of
Gods people? Make no mistake, its a delight to receive a
card from a friend and it may be the best you can do.
Look around you and ask, Who needs help and can I do
more? There is no shortage of people who need help.
Keep in mind the Bible says, as you did it not to
one of the least of these, you did it not to me (Matthew
25:45 RSV). Will you get to know people, get involved in
helping, and insure your reward in the Kingdom? Or
will you be one of the goats herded to eternal doom,
while the sheep get their eternal reward?

changed, I would say exactly the same thing to you
today, because you serve not the Lord your God with
joyfulness and with gladness of heart for the abundance
of all things, therefore, you shall serve your enemies
which the Lord will send against you, in hunger, and
thirst, and nakedness, and in want of all things, and he
shall put a yoke of iron on your neck until he has
destroyed you, because you served not the Lord with
joyfulness and gladness of heart for all the wonderful
things he has given you. And one wonders if one of the
reasons why we dont do it is because of the abundance.
It seems impossible, doesnt it? But it seemed just
as impossible to the people I said this to the first time
and it happened to them anyway. How is it possible for a
nation so great to have so great a fall? Its easier than
you might think, for it is the wealth, it is the power, it is
the greatness that contains the seeds of its own
destruction.
What Would the Prophet in the
Spirit of Hosea Say?
Lets go back to the courthouse steps and hear what
another prophet might say to us in the modern world.
Thus saith the Lord, long ago, I sent a prophet to a
people just like you. His name was Hosea and he warned
them what would happen if they didnt repent. Hear the
word of the Lord, for the Lord has a controversy with
the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth,
nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
It sends a little shiver down the spine to consider
how a great nation could fall so low as the prophet will
now tell us they have fallen. The people are unmerciful.
They have lost the knowledge of God entirely, when
once they knew who he was.
Now God is not present in your public life. You
dont want to hear about God. By swearing and lying and
killing and stealing and committing adultery. They break
out, and the blood of one crime runs into the blood of
another crime. Therefore, shall the land mourn, and
everyone that dwells there shall languish with the beasts
of the field and with the fowls of heaven. Yea, even the
fish of the sea shall be taken away.
Now thats staggering, the abundance of the sea.
You would think, wouldnt you, that there would be
enough there to last forever. There would be no way a

man could fish out the seas and yet here you are
actually endangering the survival of many species of
food fish and you come to where you go to fish and
they will not be there.
Let no man strive to reprove another for your people
would even argue with the priests, therefore shall you fall in
the day, and the prophet shall fall with you in the night, and
I will destroy your mother. My people are destroyed for a
lack of knowledge, because you have rejected knowledge, I
will reject you, that you shall be no priest to me, seeing you
have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your
children (Hosea 4:4-6).
The Law of God
This is where we reach the bottom line. There is a way
to live that is encompassed in the Law of God, the Ten
Commandments.
For 200 years and more in your country, there was
no problem with having the Ten Commandments
posted in a public place. You could have it in the
Supreme Court. You could have it in any courtroom in
the land. Now, you dont want to see it. Theres no
argument here with the constitutional issues involved, I
am just pointing out the obvious.
The people of this great nation dont want to be
reminded of Gods Law. If you did, the courts would
not be making the decisions that they are making.
This is where we reach the
bottom line. There is a way
to live that is encompassed
in the Law of God,
the Ten Commandments.
There are few statements that are as frightening as
the one we just read, Seeing that you have forgotten
the Law of your God, I will also forget your children
and because you have forsaken the basis of all law, your
people will increasingly forsake the rule of law all
together. Your leaders, your mayors and governors will
flout the law of the land, just as the mayor of San
Francisco feels free to disobey the law, so all the citizens
of his city will begin to decide which laws they will
keep and which laws they will not.

And why shouldnt they? If its good enough for
the mayor, its good enough for them. Can you begin to
understand how a great nation, a wealthy and powerful
nation, could be brought low by forsaking the rule of
law?
Hosea continues, As they were increased, so they
sinned against Me, therefore will I change their glory
into shame. You see, my people, there is a direct
correlation between the growth in your wealth and the
growth in your sin. They eat up the sin of my people.
They set their heart on their iniquity, and there shall be
like people like priest, like people like Mayor, like Mayor
like judges, and I will punish them for their ways, I will
reward them for their doings, for they will eat and not
have enough. They shall commit whoredom and not
increase because they have left off to take heed to the
Lord. They will come to the place that they never have
enough. They eat but they are not satisfied, they grow fat
and they want more. They are so wealthy. They have so
much to eat that they sometimes can not get through the
doors of our marketplaces. They have sex like no people
ever had, and yet their population is in decline.
Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the
heart. My people ask counsel at their stocks. Their staff
declares unto them, for the spirit of whoredom has
caused them to err and they have gone whoring against
their God.
Whoredom
Theres a fascinating comparison here between the
whoredom of the flesh and the whoredom from God.
They seem to go together and, in our society, drugs
along with wine and new wine are systematically cutting
away the heart of our people.
The prophet continues, They sacrifice upon the
tops of mountains and they burn incense upon the hills
under oaks and poplars and elms because its a good
place, because there is shade there and they were
comfortable. Therefore, your daughters shall commit
whoredom and your spouses shall commit adultery. You
have turned your women loose like no society has ever
done in the history of man. They have become, to use
your term for it, HOs, but I will not punish your
daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your
spouses when they commit adultery, for yourselves are
separated with whores and you sacrifice with harlots.

Youre not any better than the women, youre not any
better than your daughters or your spouses. Theres no
particular reason why I should correct them, when you
are no better.
Therefore, the people who do not understand shall
fall.
Spirit of Whoredom
If Hosea were here, he would say to us further,
Though everyone around you is playing the harlot,
dont get drawn into that, though everyone else is acting
like a heifer in heat, dont make that mistake yourself.
Dont let yourself get drawn down that path.
Listen to this you preachers, you priests, you
senators, you of the administration of the country.
Judgment is toward you because you have been a snare
to this people. You in positions of leadership commit
whoredom and the whole country is defiled. You people
will not frame or direct your doings to turn to God.
Why? Because the spirit of whoredom is in the midst of
them, and they have not known the Lord.
I think Hoseas phrase, the spirit of whoredom,
pretty well sums up what is wrong with our land today,
through all of our music, our arts, our entertainment,
our diversions, even our education, the spirit of
whoredom dominates.
Listening to Hosea again, They will not frame their
doings to turn to their God, for the spirit of whoredom
is in the midst of them, and they have not known the
Lord. The pride of this people testifies to their face, says
God, and the time is going to come when they will seek
the Lord and will not find him, because he has
withdrawn from them.
I wonder how close we are to that time, to the place
where we will turn and look for God and will not be
