Linville-Edom Elementary School, Rockingham County, Virginia (Current)


Student Teacher (2nd Grade)

Taught a full load classroom schedule for a total of 5 weeks, while teaching 2-3 subjects for roughly
6 of the remaining 12-week placement to a class size of 26.
Lesson planned, managed the classroom, as well as communicated with families and attended after
school events.
Conducted research on using student center math instruction through games and number talks in
order to increase students interest in mathematics and their content knowledge within the NCTM
framework.
Implemented science and social studies lessons with real-life experiences in order to have students
create connections with the concepts they were learning.
Used content integration throughout my lesson plans in order increase the amount of time spent on
science and social studies topics, while maintaining a strong emphasis on reading, writing, and
math.

Practicum Student (3rd Grade)

Implemented several lesson plans including a mathematical interview designed at understanding 3


students mathematical thinking within a rounding based lesson designed to teach the content as
well as place emphasis on the five NCTM process standards of mathematics.
Conducted QRI and Words Their Ways assessments in order to determine a particular students
reading and writing level in order to plan a week long literacy lesson plan aimed at teaching a group
of students in the same level as the one assessed.

JMU Young Childrens Program, Harrisonburg, VA (Fall 2016)


Practicum Student (Ages 3-4)

Designed and implemented lessons including a leaf identification lesson as well as one aimed at
identifying the seasons of the year in terms of a trees life cycle.
Researched and authored a case study centered on a 4-year-old student in terms of his social,
emotional, psychological, and physical, and cognitive development.
Minnick Education Center, Harrisonburg, VA (2015)
Educational Aide

Collaborated with the classrooms lead teacher to implement and teach VAP and SOL goals in a
classroom of 7 students aged between 13 and 19 who ranged between high and low on the autistic
spectrum.
Recorded and graphed 15 minute data on each student daily, analyzing the frequency of a
students behavior which aimed to assess their progress in the program and what behaviors needed
attention.
Taught the students various life and academic skills as well as vocational skills by taking them on
shopping trips to Wal-Mart or partnering with several other organizations including the SPCA,
Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, and making backpack lunches.
Assisted with other classrooms in the school, including lower autism (ages 7 and up), and lower
elementary behavioral students.

Oasis Preschool and Nursery, Harrisonburg, VA (2016-2017)


Intervention Specialist

Worked with the teachers of various classrooms consisting of students ranging in age from infant to
four years old, in order to provide safe care, develop age appropriate lessons, and build
relationships with students and their families while ensuring that classrooms were inclusive and
appropriate for students with special needs.
Served as a one-to-one for two students with autism, ensuring that their needs were met while
assisting in implementing effective communication strategies, provide transportation to school, as
well as collaborating with Spectrum instructors.

JMU C.A.R.E, Stone Spring Elementary School, Harrisonburg City Schools (Summer 2017)
Student led project

Developed a two weeklong summer literacy program for students from Eritrea and Kongo.
The program also emphasized incorporating creativity into the programs curriculum.
