STEP 1
Logging in to the DSLAM CLI (Command Line Interface)
The default username and password for MA5616 are

Username root

Password mduadmin

Logging in through the Console (CON) Port of the DSLAM

The console port is an RJ45 connector with name CON on the Control Card. For connecting
through the console port you need a computer with a serial port or USB to serial adapter.

To connect to the CLI via console port you will need a terminal emulator software like Hyper
Terminal or Putty or Secure CRT.

Please select the appropriate Com Port from the terminal and use the settings as in the
following table.

Bits Per Second 9600

Data Bits 8
Parity None
Stop Bits 1
Flow Control None

Once the above settings are done and cables are connected you will be able to log in to the
DSLAM with the username and password.

Logging in through the Management Ethernet (ETH) Port of the DSLAM

The management Ethernet port is an RJ45 connector with name ETH on the Control
Card (CCUC). For connecting through the ETH port you need a computer with a 100Mbps or
1Gbps Ethernet port and an Ethernet cable.

The default Management IP address of MA5616 is 10.11.104.2/24. Configure the computers

network card with any IP Address within 10.11.104.3 to 10.11.104.254 and with subnet mask
255.255.255.0. There is no need to configure default gateway.

1|Page
Once the above configuration is done and cable is connected to the active control card (SCUB)
you can connect to the CLI by telnet to the IP Address 10.11.104.2.

STEP 4
Configuring the Uplink Port
There are two uplink ports on the CCUC card of the MA5616, 0 and 1. Port 0 is mapped to the built in GE
Electrical port. So at a time it will work as either optical or electric only. To configure the port as electric
combo-mode 0 electric command is used.

SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable transceiver)

To enable the port 1 , before configuring the port for the first time SFP should be inserted into the slot
and at least once link should be activated (can be activated by giving a loop).

In the below example, SFP is inserted Port 1 has already been activated. And we are going to configure
port 0 as electric

STEP 5
Configuring Inband management
INCITY(RPR) Management VLAN is 125 and OCCITY(OCLAN Switch) Management VLAN is 117

Create the Management VLAN

MA5616(config)#vlan 117,125 standard

It will take several minutes, and console may be timeout, please use command idle-
timeout to set time limit
Are you sure to add VLANs? (y/n)[n]:y
The total of the VLANs having been processed is 2
The total of the added VLANs is 2

Add the VLANs to the Uplink Ports

MA5616(config)#port vlan 117,125 0/0 0-1

It will take several minutes, and console may be timeout, please use command idle-
timeout to set time limit
Are you sure to add standard port(s)? (y/n)[n]:y
The total of the VLANs having been processed is 2
The total of the port VLAN(s) having been added is 4

Assign IP address to the Management (Standard) VLAN interface

MA5616(config)#interface vlanif 125

MA5616(config-if-vlanif125)#ip address 10.82.248.2 255.255.255.0
MA5616(config-if-vlanif125)#quit
MA5616(config)#

To remove IP Address
MA5600T(config-if-vlanif125)#undo ip address 10.82.248.2 255.255.255.0
To Change the IP Address of a VLAN Interface simply type the new IP Address
MA5600T(config-if-vlanif125)#ip address 10.227.48.5 255.255.255.0

Check the connectivity with the respective Gateway Device using Ping command.
If DSLAM IP Address is x.y.z.a then gateway/BNG IP Address will be x.y.z.1

MA5616(config)#ping 10.82.248.1
PING 10.82.248.1: 56 data bytes, press CTRL_C to break
Reply from 10.82.248.1: bytes=56 Sequence=1 ttl=254 time=1 ms

Reply from 10.82.248.1: bytes=56 Sequence=5 ttl=254 time=1 ms

Assigning default route. If DSLAM IP Address is

x.y.z.a then gateway/BNG
MA5600T(config)#ip route-static 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.82.248.1 IP Address will be x.y.z.1
