METHODS AND PROCEDURES

This chapter contains the research design and the methodology used in the

conduct of this study. Each of the methods used was presented with the data. It

incorporated the sampling technique, sources of data, the instrument utilized to gather

data, as well as the statistical tools employed in processing the data. This chapter

shows how the researcher came to the necessary data for this study, and how these

data were analyzed, interpreted and presented in the easiest way possible. The

credibility of findings and conclusions extensively depend on the quality of the research

design, data collection, data management, and data analysis. This section is to justify

the means in which the study was obtained and will help in giving it purpose and

strength as it will then be truthful and analytical. All these will help in the processing of

the data and the formulation of conclusions.

Research Methodology

A research methodology used for this study is a survey. A survey was

administered to a selected sample from a specific population, which was given a survey

those people who live in Puregold Mercedes Ave. to Ejercito Avenue. Survey is

commonly applied to a research methodology designed to collect data from a specific

population, or a sample from that population, and typically utilizes a questionnaire or an

interview as the survey instrument.

A total of (insert number) persons are surveyed. Since they resides along the
selected parameter they experience and witness what are the changes, incidences and

happenings in the said road. This survey serves as a tool in collecting and analyzing

information from the random individuals. The questions on the survey are as follows:

All the data collected from the questionnaires were recorded and tallied to be

used in analyzing the results. An actual site visit was also conducted during the

completion of the survey to random people.

Data were derived from the answers respondents gave in self-administered

questionnaire prepared by the researcher. Sample surveys are an important tool for

collecting and analyzing information from selected individuals. In addition the sample

survey or questionnaire was given by those motorists we see along the road, including

tricycles and motor riders. They are widely accepted as a key tool for conducting and

applying basic social science research methodology.

Research Design

This study utilized the descriptive survey in order to achieve the purpose of this

study which is to determine, identify road failures and recommend possible solutions

in Puregold Mercedes Ave. to Ejercito Avenue. It is descriptive in a sense that the data

obtained were analyzed and described. The researchers group used a survey

questionnaire as their instrument. Based on the result of the survey conducted, the

group enables to determine the details of this study. Tables and figures were used to

provide clearer understanding of the data presented as answers to the problem study.

Research Tools

The researchers prepared a questionnaire to determine the views of the

residence along the selected parameter in (Insert the Place) (from Puregold Mercedes

Avenue to Ejercito Avenue) regarding with what the usual things happen in the road,

like; accidents, flooding, and the different types of vehicle passing through the road that

might be a reason of road failures. The researchers subject was asked to choose their

preferred response by checking the number option based on their personal experience

and perception along the given area. Upon conducting the survey the researchers

group took advantage to identify the different failures in the road by means of taking

pictures, videos and actual measuring. The group also find time to compare the given

plan to the actual one. Different errors in the construction of the road would be noticed

during tabulation of the gathered data and with the result of the actual inspection/ visit.

An observation list or tabulation will help this research to start finding errors, cause and
effect, solution and recommendation that have been identified in the area along

Puregold Mercedes Avenue to Ejercito Avenue.

Procedures

Conducting Background Research

The groups initial step in taking this research was to check the background and

details about the said parameter, to research about the accidents in the area, if the road

still passable and existing, if the road serves to be a main road, and if the road lacks in

maintenance. The group does sharing information and brain storming before and after

conducting the study. From this part the group came up with a clearer view of how to

start the study.

Sample Questionnaire

The study will have respondents directly from the chosen parameter of the

Puregold Mercedes Avenue to Ejercito Avenue. Simple questions were formulated for

having a partial and clear background of how the activities on the road are going on.

(Insert number of persons) random individuals were given a questionnaire along the

vicinity of the roads. From this procedure the researchers group enables to identify

different reason of the causes in the failure of the road.

Road Survey

This method is the way we analyze the investigation made, the planning and the

design process. First thing is we took a ride along the Puregold Mercedes Avenue to

Ejercito Avenue and stops for every possible error may come up to inspect things we

should determine. And the goal of identifying road errors and maintenance needed.

With this, the researcher's group can determine some circumstances that can contribute

to the failures of the road.

Analysis of Error and Repairs

Analyzing the errors and repairs done in actual inspection was conducted. The

researcher's group came up with different ideas which lead them to have a better

conclusion and recommendations. From this part, the researchers enables to discover

different circumstances that helps the group understand the different situation happen in

the road that contributes and effects the failures in the road.
