With this, the government perceived that enhancing the quality of basic education in the country is urgent and critical. Thus, our educational system was being aligned with
international practice by enacting the Republic Act No. 10533 otherwise known as the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013. The enhanced basic education program encompasses at least
one (1) year of kindergarten education, six (6) years of elementary education, and six (6) years of secondary education, in that sequence. Secondary education includes four (4) years of junior
high school and two (2) years of senior high school education.
All throughout the division of Sultan Kudarat, Kalamansig National High School (KNHS) was one of the two high schools chosen to model the Senior High School Curriculum underthe
Technical Vocational Trackfor SY 2014 2015. Since the program was quite new, the school administration had been groping in the dark regarding its operation. Thus, different researches
and preparations were done in order to understand the program. Initially, a Senior High School Technical Working Group (SHS TWG) was composed to spearhead the preparations. For
Benchmarking purposes, this group traveled to various schools who already piloted the SHS offering. Market Scoping was also done to determine whether there are ready establishments for
the students immersions or supervised-industry-trainings.
Aside from these, KNHS in collaboration with the Local Government of Kalamansig held a Senior High School Municipal Summit on May 21, 2014. The said activity was done to
introduce to the community the SHS program. Representatives from different sectors including the Department of Trade & Industry, Department of Agriculture, Academe and many others
were invited which resulted to establishment of partnerships and linkages.
Data Analysis was conducted to determine the readiness of the school pertaining to human resources, learning facilities and equipment, etc.. Moreover, recoridas were also done to
make the people aware of the said modeling program. Fresh graduates of the school who cannot proceed to universities/colleges as well as out-of-school individuals who were interested to
enroll in the specializations to be offered by the school (Computer Hardware & Servicing, Food Trades and Cosmetology) were traced.
Eventually, the TWG was able to have the following enrollment data: 23 for Food Trades, 10 for Cosmetology and 22 for Computer Hardware & Servicing with a total of 55 students.
