Almost one year ago today I was sitting down to write what would become 101 Spellbooks,
author Tomes of Knowledge, and Forbidden Grimoires. That first PDF, an experiment in the market, has
lead me to where I am today. The 101 series of PDFs has been the foundation upon which
Christopher Shy Christopher Shy and I have built Ronin Arts and it is certainly exciting for me to be putting the
illustrator final touches on a 101 PDF that I didnt write.
To be honest, I couldnt have written this PDF. Though my shelves are stocked with books on
Philip Reed many of the objects presented in this PDF Ive had no interest in compiling that information into
L ay o u t a game supplement. Luckily for us, Jason McKay had an interest and put together this, the first
101 series PDF written by someone other than me.

Introduction
As a DM for 3rd edition I decided it would
be fun to create a fantasy campaign within our
medieval world, and using the myths, legends,
occult history and other supernatural events of
our past as the fantasy and magical elements of
the historical campaign. I have wanted to cre-
ate several PDFs for sometime now, and one of
the first things I thought about was using some
of the elements of my own campaign world.
Inspired greatly by the first edition of the
Dungeon Masters Guide and its list of powerful
