What We Did, Whats Coming Up:
Language Arts:
This week in our literacy block, we learned the letters M and H, their sign, and their
sounds. PALS is finishing up we will discuss how your child performed at our
conference together. We read the book When I Get Bigger by Mercer Mayer,
made a list of things we want to be able to do when we also get bigger, and
talked about labeling our pictures. On Friday, we read the book Spookley the
Square Pumpkin.

Math:
In math workshop this week, we made name towers. We counted the letters in our names and
compared them to other names to see if they are shorter, the same, or longer than ours. For the next
few weeks we will visit the concepts: sorting and classifying, collecting, representing, describing, and
interpreting data, and comparing and ordering quantities. We will revisit attributes with our games
Attribute Block Match-Up, Button Match-Up, and people sorting. We will also sort our favorite food
items and create a graph about it to analyze. We will continue to work on counting by 1s to 30 and
backwards from 15.

Social Studies:
In our content block, we discussed the sense of touch. We went on a hunt around the room to find
objects that felt scratchy, rough, smooth, soft, and hard. Next week we will learn about smell!
