Learning Experiences:

1. Using the PowerPoint define resilience


2. Continue through the PowerPoint, stopping to discuss as students have questions or queries arise
3. Play the 5 Steps to Resilience YouTube video, afterwards discuss the steps with students, initiate a
discussion about strategies they may use and whether they feel they are achieving the 5 steps (i.e. do
they use meditation?? Use this to lead on to the next video)
4. Begin the 5-minute Mindfulness Meditation session (YouTube video)
5. Apple Activity with students (lesson 1 if time, if not, lesson 2) two apples (pink ladys) will be passed
around to students who are seated in a circle, students will be asked to treat & talk to one apple nicely.
The other apple, students will say a put-down and bump or knock the apple. Once both apples have
circled the group they will be cut in half to show that even though the apples may look fine or the same
on the outside and people may put on a brave face, they arent the same on the inside, they are damaged
and bruised, which also relates to people elaborate the connection if necessary.
6. Resilience Chatterbox Activity (lesson 2) - students will create chatterboxes, inside the chatterboxes
students will write the steps to resilience that they noted down in the previous lesson, they will be given
5-10 minutes at the end of the lesson to use the chatterboxes with their peers.
