An adaptive reuse to an existing 1937 WPA-era courthouse building listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
WRD transformed the interiors into a new headquarters for the Monterey County District Attorney. WRD provided
full architectural services from project inception including programming, needs assessment, development guidelines,

WRD and Slavik Planning + Design approached the City of Monterey with ideas for a revitalized downtown to increase
tourism, commerce and property ownership. The team conducted thousands of hours of community outreach and
research over two years to redesign downtown Montereys plazas and streetscapes to improve access and commerce. In
2011, the City Council selected our team to bring our ideas to life. RELEVANCE TO SERVICE AREA: City
