1. Share Content & Files

WizIQ understands that class time is precious. Uploading PDFs, Word/PowerPoint/Excel documents, audio/video files, and
other formats takes time. Time could be spent better by interacting with your attendees.

That is why WizIQ offers a cloud-based Content Library. You can access your Content Library from inside the WizIQ Virtual
Classroom, sharing anything with your attendees using your library. You can even allow them to download the recordings
of your session, so your students can review the recordings at their leisure.

You are not limited to just what is already inside your Content Library. You can also upload files on the fly during a class,
and give students permission to upload as well. This Quick Guide explains both how to work with the Content Library, and
how to upload files directly in the classroom.

1.2. Uploading Files from the WizIQ Dashboard

If you already know which files you want to share with your class, take advantage of that knowledge by pre-uploading
the files in your WizIQ Content Library. Once uploaded, the content file may take from 2 seconds to 2 hours to appear,
depending upon the file size. So be sure to give yourself plenty of time, just in case.

You can also embed content such as audio and video in your webpage.

Follow these steps to add files to your Content Library:

1. Log on to your WizIQ account.

2. From the Teach menu in the top navigation bar, select Upload Content. This action takes you to the Upload
Content page.

Tag: Tags are keywords make it easier to find the file by searching or browsing.

Description: A short description makes your content easier to find, a good description eliminates the guesswork
of your students, when they are searching for study material.

5. Manage your files privacy settings by selecting one of the following options:

Public: Makes your content file accessible to everyone, listing it on WizIQ and allowing Google to index it.

Private: Completely secures your content file. Makes the file accessible only to people you invite to view it.

6. From the Language drop-down, select the language used in your content file.

7. Check the Allow others to download box if you want to allow others to download your file. Otherwise, uncheck it.

On the WizIQ website, go to the My Stuff menu on the top navigation bar, and select My Content.
In the WizIQ Virtual Classroom, either:
1. Open the Content Library from the top navigation bar.
2. Open the File menu and select the file there.

When open, the Content Library displays following lists:

All pre-loaded files.

All files currently uploading in the library.

Figure 1.3.: Select files to attach

Files you personally uploaded show up under Uploaded Content. If someone else uploaded the file and shared with
you, then it appears under Shared with me. In either case, when you want to add a file to a particular class:

1. Navigate to the file in your Content Library.

2. Click the Add to class button next to the file.

Note: Keep in mind that if others uploaded the file, they retain the permission to delete it.

1.4. Uploading Content During Class

You cannot always upload your files ahead of time. Teachers have the option of uploading files on the fly during class
(except for audio/video since those files are so large). Files uploaded during class open directly in the WizIQ Virtual
Classroom without uploading to the Content Library. While all attendees can view the file, they would be unable to save it.
However, if you are recording your class, the file is captured in the class recording.

To upload content from in the WizIQ Virtual Classroom during a class, do the following:

1. Click Upload from desktop from the top navigation bar.

Figure 1.4.: Upload from desktop

2. Select the file from your desktop. (If you want to upload an audio/video media file during a live class, see Media Player
user guide for more information on how to upload audio and video files.)

3. The content file opens directly in the whiteboard.

Once uploaded, your file may take from 1 - 4 minutes to load in the classroom. If it takes longer than
expected:

If your file is between 40%-90% its in conversion. Do not refresh at this stage.
If your file is at 90%, conversion is complete, and only data transfer is pending. Do not refresh at this stage.

1.5. Allowing Attendees to Upload Files

You can allow attendees to upload a file by giving them writing control. Then they upload the file using the same method
described in the previous section, for uploading content in the WizIQ Virtual Classroom during a live class.

3. Recording
One of the WizIQ Virtual Classrooms most popular features is the ability to record classes. Class recordings capture
everything that happens in the main classroom, including:

The presenters audio and video inputs.

All Main Room whiteboards.
All audio/video media played in the classroom.
Any desktop sharing done during class.
Any content sharing that occurred during class.

Later, when someone plays your recording back, it plays like the real class without delay or disruption (depending on your
Internet connection).

Note: Activities of Breakout Rooms cannot be recorded.

As a teacher, only you can select to record your class session. However, your students can play any recordings you make,
and download them if you permit it. You might find the recordings useful for your own purposes as well.

Like the WizIQ Virtual Classroom, recordings are accessible from any web browser - since it plays in Flash, no other
plug-in is required.

This Quick Guide explains how to record your class and allow students to view or download the recording.

6. Screen Sharing
The WizIQ Virtual Classroom offers Screen Sharing capabilities, which allow you to show your online class whats
happening on your screen.

In particular, this feature allows you to:

Share the entire desktop.

Assign sharing capability to an attendee, who can then share what theyre doing (on their whole desktop) with the
class.

This Quick Guide explains how to share screens with your attendees.

Note: Screen Sharing is not available in Breakout Rooms. If youre running a Breakout Session, youll have to bring the desired
students out of their Breakout Rooms and in the Main room, and then share your screen there.

6.1. Starting Desktop Sharing Session

Its best to practice launching a Screen Sharing session before you plan to use one, or before you teach a class, where
one might be useful.

Note: Attendees dont have to install any additional add-ons to view your share.

Note: Java is required to run the screen sharing.

Also, keep in mind that when you share, students can see all content on your desktop. Take a moment to ensure that you
display only what you want to display before beginning a screen sharing session for your desktop.

To share something on your screen during your live class, do the following:

1. On the WizIQ Virtual Classrooms main menu bar, click the Screen button.

6.3. Allowing Participants to Share their Screen with the Class

Teachers automatically have permission to host a sharing session. If you want attendees to share, you must first give
them permission. To assign this permission, do the following:

1. Click Show Options in the Attendee List.

2. Find the participants name in the list.
3. Click the writing control icon next to the participants name.

Once the writing control icon is displayed next to the attendees name, walk them through the process discussed in the
section Starting a Desktop Sharing session. Then when it is time to end their sharing session, explain the process in
the section Stopping your Desktop Sharing session.

When there is no more need for the attendee to share, return to the Attendee List, and click the writing control next
to their name to revoke the sharing permission. This is a good housekeeping step to prevent accidental or purposeful
mischief later.

Troubleshooting

If you refresh your session (or its refreshed for you) by closing the class or re-loading the page in your browser, screen
sharing closes automatically. Launch a fresh screen sharing session to return to what you were doing.

7. Whiteboard
The WizIQ Virtual Classrooms Whiteboard offers a flexible, feature-rich experience for visual teaching. In the WizIQ
Virtual Classroom, the Whiteboard consumes the largest portion of screen real estate. Using the Whiteboard, you can:

Project slides, play PowerPoint presentations, and share document files by uploading them from your Content
Library or your computer.
Play videos by selecting them from the Media Player, or pasting in their YouTube URL.
Write using specialized tools, ranging from multilingual text to math with formulas.
Draw with multiple tools, including the ability to create shapes for diagrams.
Assign writing control to your students, so they can demonstrate their understanding of the topic or visually form
their question.
Create a fresh Whiteboard for each concept using browser-like tabs without deleting previous material, as
though you are working with a virtual flip chart. No need to erase!

8. Live Audio and Video Streaming

Through the WizIQ Virtual Classroom, you can connect with your students through live audio and video with complete
echo cancellation. Enjoy live video streams for up to 6 people via VoIP, and audio communication for any number of
people simultaneously.

This Quick Guide explains how to participate in audio conversations, and how to broadcast live video to your students in
the virtual classroom.

Note: Teachers control who can use audio and video at all times (or in the case of Breakout Rooms, the rooms lead does).

8.1. Testing and configuring your audio/video devices

To test and configure your audio/video devices, do the following:

1. In the WizIQ Virtual Classroom, find the audio/video controls in the upper right corner.

3. In the Device Settings window, you can:

Select the audio device you want to speak through under Microphones.
Test your microphone by making a recording and playing it back, then adjust the volume.
Select the video device you want to use to broadcast video.
Select the quality you want to offer for your broadcasted video. (The default is Medium. If you have a
slow Internet connection or have trouble maintaining video chat, you may find it helpful to select Low.)
Test your speakers by playing the recorded music, and adjust their volume accordingly.

4. Click on the Save Settings button to save your changes, or click on Cancel if you want to leave the settings as they
were.

8.2. Device Configuration Tips

Be sure to test your microphone before broadcasting audio in class. You may be surprised at how loud or quiet
you sound, and the volume can affect how clear your speech sounds to attendees.
The viewer can never receive video at a higher quality than is transmitted. For example, if the viewers quality is
set to High and the video is transmitted in Medium, the viewer will see the video in Medium not in High.
If you are going to use speakers, be sure to test them ahead of time. Nothing messes up the flow of a session
like stopping to fuss with hardware.

Your students can adjust their device settings by doing the following:

1. Enter the class a few minutes before its scheduled time. A start time countdown screen appears.
2. Click on the Device settings button (shown in the image below) and make any desired adjustments to the
audio/video settings.

At this time, you can Text Chat in the WizIQ Virtual Classroom using four different languages: Chinese, English, Hebrew,
and Thai. Before you can Text Chat in any particular language, you must install these languages in your operating system.
You can find instructions on how to add a new language here:

Windows Vista
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Add-or-change-an-input-language
Older versions of Microsoft Windows
OS X
OS X 10.5
OS X 10.6

If you are not sure whether you have installed the language or not, you can check in Windows by looking in the language
bar. Mac users can check in System Preferences -> Language & Text -> Input Sources

Once you have the language installed, Windows users can Text Chat in a specific language by doing the following:

1. Right-click the taskbar, then select Toolbars -> Language bar.

Figure 9.6.: Language bar

2. Pick the language you want to use from the language bar.
3. Start Text Chatting in the WizIQ Virtual Classroom in your preferred language.

Repeat this process when you are ready to change to another language.

Mac users can switch languages by clicking the flag in your top task bar, and selecting the desired language. If you dont
see such a flag, go to System Preferences -> Language & Text -> Input Sources. Enabling the Keyboard & Character
Viewer input source will add a flag in your top task bar.

Note: In the Input Sources configuration, Mac users can select Allow a different one for each document to avoid having to change your
entire systems settings.
