1- Introduction
Iranian Gas Engineering & Development Company (I.G.E.D.C) has intended to perform gas
transmission pipeline and gas compressor stations for transferring of 110 MMSCMD of natural
gas to be fed from South Pars phases 22 ~ 24 from Assalouyeh to Bazargan.
Design of a new 56" gas transmission pipeline from Assalouyeh to Bazargan has been
described under this EPC Contract.
2- SCOPE
This specification covers the design, manufacturing, testing, inspection and preparation for
shipment of flanges and fittings. This specification is based on IPS-M-PI-150.
3- DEFINITIONS
Client: Iranian Gas Engineering & Development Company (IGEDC).
MC: Ghods Niroo Consulting Engineers.
CONSULTANT: Haraz Rah Consulting Engineers.
CONTRACTOR: Gharargah Khatam-AL-Anbia.Niroo Goostar Institute.
All requirements stated in the scope of this document shall be accordance with the latest edition of
.the following codes and standards unless the edition of standards is specified

5- FITTINGS:
5-1 MATERIAL
5-1-4 For grades WPHY 42 and higher the measured yield strength shall not exceed the
minimum values given in table 2 of API 5L by more than 150 Mpa.
5-1-5 All flanged fittings shall be supplied in the normalized and tempered condition.
5-2-1 The thicknesses of fittings must be in accordance with the standards API 5L or ASME B 36.10.
5-2-2 The dimensions and tolerances of forged, threaded or socket-welding fittings of 3000 # series
shall comply with the standard ASME B 16.11.
5-2-3 The dimensions of butt-welding fittings for NPS up to 24" shall be in accordance with the
standard ASME B16.9, and for NPS larger 24" with the standard MSS SP-75.
5-2-4 For integrally reinforced forged branch outlet fittings, design, dimension and tolerances shall
conform to MSS SP 97.
5-2-5For fittings in NPS greater than the limits set by the standards ASME B 16.9 and MSS-SP-75
SUPPLIER must submit a dimensioned document and calculations notes to the CLIENT for
approval.
5-2-6Following are the tolerances permitted for off-square X as shown in following figure
5-4 FABRICATION
The fittings shall be formed to present smooth internal surfaces to the gas flow without
ridges or discontinuities.
5-5-1 Supplier shall supply to the purchaser details tests performed to ensure quality control.
5-5-2 The Supplier shall be responsible for all injurious Defects in the tee after being installed in
the stations that may be detected during the hydrostatic test.
5-5-3 An inspection certificate shall be provided by the manufacturer in accordance with the
following:
ISO 10474 Type 5.1 B for chemical analysis, mechanical properties, notch toughness
properties, hardness properties, heat treatment, non-destructive examination.
ISO 10474 Type 5.1 C for other tests, e.g. dimensional checks, pressure test (when
specified), functional checks.
5-6 MARKING
5-6-1 In addition to the markings required by the MSS SP 25 standard, the following information
shall be marked by cold stamping on each fitting:
;Specification and grade of material -
;Heat number -
.Batch number -
.However, fittings less than 3 mm thick shall not be marked by stamping but by etching
5-7 PROTECTION
5-8 PACKING
Sea-packing shall be used for all fittings. It must meet the conditions of all stages of transport
.(rail, road, air and sea)
6- FLANGES
Except as supplemented or amended by this specification, Flanges shall be manufactured and
0
.tested in accordance with standard Code ANSI B 16.5, MSS SP 44 / ASME B16.47 series A
1 All requirements contained in this specification shall be considered as additions to or
.clarifications for implementing the above mentioned standards
.All codes and standards quoted herein shall be the latest editions and revisions
DIMENSIONS 6-2
Flange dimensions and tolerances, etc. shall be in accordance with ANSI B 16.5, MSS SP
0 44 / ASME B16.47 series A. The hub inside diameter shall be uniformly bored to suit

The following test specimens shall be taken from one forging selected from the -6-4-4
.quantity being supplied
a) Two tensile specimens taken from the disc of the flange, one specimen having its
lengthwise axis directionally normal to flange bore and the second specimen taken with
its lengthwise axis directionally at right angles to the equivalent axis of the first
.specimen. Reference figure 2(C) of ASTM specification A 370
b) Three charpy V-notch impact test specimens, each two-third size as specified in ASTM
Specification E.23, taken from the hub and as near the weld end as practicable, with their
lengthwise axis tangential to the flange bore and the three specimens equispaced around
