Racism and Equality

Racism has been around for the longest time and it has hurt many people and
caused problems throughout the years. To talk more about racism we have to go
back to its roots, where did it originate and how? Nobody knows where racism
actually started but historians believe that when Jews were said to do witchcraft
that started a racist viewpoint of the world. The 19th centurys start of
emancipation, nationalism, and imperialism also contributed to the growth of
ideologist racism. The climax of racism came in the twelfth century in the rise and
fall of what might be called overtly racist regimes. The Civil Rights movement
succeeded to outlaw racial segregation and discrimination in the 1960s.
Racism is still sadly around today. Our current day president Donald Trump
is a racist. He talked and slandered Mexicans calling every single one a criminal,
rapist, or thief. A white man in his 60s recently caused a tragedy in the US by
shooting up a concert in Las Vegas and killing more than 50 people. You dont see
Donald Trump saying anything about him but sending his condolences to the
families and their lost ones. Racism is still strong even after years of people
fighting against it.
Equality is another topic that has been brought up a lot by the public. The
question that has been asked for many years is are we truly equal. Known Rapper
Logic said at the VMAs(Video music awards) that he believes we are all equal but
we are not treated equally. In my opinion I agree with him 100%. We are all born
equal and full of life but the way people treat us affects how our life turns out.
Gender equality has been brought up a lot by women who believe they arent
treated equally. Many women called themselves feminists because they believe in
feminism. Feminism is the advocacy of womens rights on the basis of the
equality of the sexes. In my opinion I believe both men and women are equal. A
topic feminists brought up a lot was fair wage. I think both men and women are
paid equally its just that men do harder jobs and more hours than women.
Racial equality is probably the most controversial topic of equality. Logic(A
rapper) wrote an entire music album talking about equality and other social issues
called Everybody. Logic is biracial and in his song Black Spiderman he says, I
dont wanna be black, I dont wanna be white, I just wanna be a man today. I dont
wanna be a Christian, Muslim, gay, straight, or bi, see you later, bye. This part of
the song is so strong because he is saying he doesnt want to be judged by the way
he looks, religion he follows, or the gender he likes. People in our society should
think like logic, we shouldnt be judging people just because of their traits.
