REPORT ON 2016 EnSciMa

INTRODUCTION
Empowered by Innovations: it is a truly fitting theme for this years English-Science-
Mathematics (EnSciMa) Week celebration because it displayed the talent, creativity,
resourcefulness, intelligence and competitiveness of Castor Alviar National School students in
the field of English, Science and Math.
A Doodle contest and Spelling Bee that revealed the creativity and cleverness of the
students was supervised by the English Club last October 17, 2016 as first part of the week-long
celebration.
The Math club organized a mind and body-challenging Quiz Bee on the second date. It
was participated by students from different levels.
A Zero-Plastic Drive campaign was launched by Mrs. Nita N. Soriano, school Science
Coordinator together with Science Club officers, on the same date.
Due to weather disturbances, the original schedule of the program was not followed. It
was reset on another dates, November 3-5.
A Crazy Science Experiment that showcased investigatory projects and experiments in
the different branches of Science, namely Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Science
opened the event for the third day of EnSciMa Week Celebration. Grade 10 students made an
improvised vacuum cleaner as one of the best ways to recycle plastic bottles. Grade 7 and 8
students tried a cool experiment where they can play with fire and not burn their hands, for
how this works the soap is what protects their hands, as does the water. Grade 9 students
exhibited Coca Cola and pool chlorine strange chemical reaction. Homemade vinegar battery
was the exhibit of another group from Grade 9 students. The experiment was judged by Science
teachers from different levels.
After the Crazy Science Experiment, Mr. Kevin A. Domingo hosted a Dance Contest. The
first group of contestants showed their dancing prowess, complete with props and costumes.
The first group of dancers set the tone for the other groups that followed. All the competing
groups danced with uncontrolled enthusiasm and presented elaborate English, Math and
Science interpretations.
The celebration was culminated with the Search for 2016 Mr. and Ms. EnSciMa won by
Mathew Malabanan, from Grade 8, and Yhandra Ysabelle Del Rosario of Grade 9, respectively.
The portrayal of Greek gods and goddesses and the use of indigenous materials for the
girls gowns and boys wear made the activity more fun and special.
Simple initiative may lead to something remarkable! Although it is quite tasking, an
overnight camp was successfully concluded with momentous highlights very much appreciated
by the students.
