Matt Drudge founded Drudge Report, the first and most successful online newspaper. People have called
Drudge the latest blogger but he doesnt accept the description. He considers the Drudge Report to be a
proper newspaper, very different from the thousands of weblogs which have appeared on the Internet.

Drudges fascination for news and gossip is the result of a childhood job delivering papers for The
Washington Star. A ____ Uninterested in school work or sport, Drudge developed a fanatical obsession with
rumours and political gossip. Following a series of dull jobs Drudge ended up in Los Angeles in the 1990s,
just in time for the beginning of what was to become the Internet.

The incipient World Wide Web was a fertile area for Drudge to grow professionally. He spent hours
examining the newsgroups and rudimentary websites that then existed. B ____ He launched the Drudge
Report website in 1995, a daily rumour bulletin containing his version of the latest and juiciest gossip from
Hollywood and Washington. C ____
