Product Description

1 Cabinet Exterior
The advanced power module with heat exchanger (APM30H) is used for Huawei wireless
products outdoors. It is small and easy to transport.
The following figure shows the exterior of the APM30H.

2 Cabinet Engineering Specifications


This section describes the engineering specifications of the APM30H, including the power
specifications, equipment specifications, surge protection specifications, and environment
specifications.

Power Specifications
The APM30H supports the input power of 220 V AC single-phase, 220/380 V AC three-phase,
110 V AC dual-live-wire, 120 V AC dual-live-wire, and the output power of -48 V DC. When
AC power is used, the base station converts AC power into -48 V DC power.
The following table lists the AC input voltage range supported by the APM30H.

3 Engineering Specifications of Customer Equipment in


the APM30H
The customer equipment to be installed in Huawei cabinets must meet the requirements for
engineering specifications.
The following conditions must be met when the customer equipment is installed in the
following cabinets: APM30H (Ver.B)/APM30H (Ver.C)/APM30H (Ver.D)/APM30H
(Ver.D_B)/APM30H (Ver.D_A2)/APM30 (Ver.D_A1):
Dimension requirements
The dimension requirements are shown in Figure 2-3.
The width is 19 inch.
The depth of the customer equipment which uses natural ventilation or supports heat
dissipation from left to right is less than or equal to 280 mm (11.02 in.). The depth of
the customer equipment which supports heat dissipation from front to rear is less than
250 mm (9.84 in.).
The cabling space in front of the front panel is less than or equal to 100 mm (3.94
in.).
Heat dissipation requirements
If the customer equipment has built-in fans, the fans must dissipate heat out from left
to right or from front to rear.
If the customer equipment does not have built-in fans but uses natural ventilation, a
minimum of 1 U space must be reserved above and below the customer equipment to
ensure heat dissipation.
Temperature requirements
Temperature requirements for customer equipment are different in ordinary areas and
high-temperature areas. The following figure lists the detailed requirements.

Ordinary areas and high-temperature areas are differentiated as follows:


Ordinary areas: The highest ambient temperature is equal to or less than 40oC.
High-temperature areas: The highest ambient temperature exceeds 40oC.
The following description illustrates the preceding figure using ordinary areas as an example.
Assuming that the operating temperature of the customer equipment is t, if -15oC t 60oC, the
customer equipment meets requirements; if the operating temperature is in a different range, for
example, -5oC t 60oC, the customer equipment does not meet requirements.

The customer equipment to be installed in the APM30, APM30H (Ver.A), TMC, or TMC11H
(Ver.A) must meet the following requirements:
Dimension requirements
The dimension requirements are shown in Figure 2-5.
The width is 19 inch.
The depth of the customer equipment which uses natural ventilation or supports heat
dissipation from left to right is less than or equal to 310 mm (12.20 in.). The depth of
the customer equipment which supports heat dissipation from front to rear is less than
280 mm (11.02 in.).
The cabling space in front of the front panel is less than or equal to 70 mm (2.76 in.).
Heat dissipation requirements
If the customer equipment has built-in fans, the fans must dissipate heat out from left
to right or from front to rear.
If the customer equipment does not have built-in fans but uses natural ventilation, a
minimum of 1 U space must be reserved above and below the customer equipment to
ensure heat dissipation.

4 Cabinet Application Scenarios


The APM30H can apply to a distributed base station or a separated macro base station.

Distributed Base Stations Configured with an APM30H

Distributed or separated base stations configured with an IBBS200D and with an IBBS200T are the same
in scenarios configured with an APM30H. This section uses the IBBS200D as an example.

The following figure shows the distributed base station where an APM30H is stacked on a
battery cabinet.

In a distributed base station, an APM30H is configured as follows:


The APM30H provides 5 U space for transmission equipment and uses an embedded
power system to feed -48 V DC power into the distributed base station, transmission
equipment, and storage battery groups in the battery cabinet.
When the mains power supply is unavailable, storage battery groups feed -48 V DC
power into the distributed base station and transmission equipment.

Separated Macro Base Stations Configured with an APM30H

In a separated macro base station, an APM30H is configured as follows:


The APM30H provides 5 U space for transmission equipment and uses an embedded
power system to feed -48 V DC power into the BBU, RFUs, transmission equipment,
and storage battery groups in the battery cabinet.
When the mains power supply is unavailable, storage battery groups feed -48 V DC
power into the BBU, RFUs, and transmission equipment.
The APM30H reports alarms from the fans of the RFC, door status sensor, DCDU, and
battery cabinet.

5 Cabinet Interior
The APM30H supplies DC power to the distributed or separated macro base station in outdoor
scenarios. It provides space for both the BBU and transmission equipment. If an AC heater or
an SOU is not configured in the APM30H and one BBU is installed, 5 U space is provided for
the customer equipment.
The following figure shows the interior of the APM30H. The following figure uses an
APM30H in the separated macro base station as an example. For more details about the

11 AC heater Opt 1 The AC heater ensures that components in the cabinet

6 Components in an APM30H
This section describes the mandatory and optional components in an APM30H.

6.1 EPU05A
An EPU05A converts AC power into DC power and distributes the power, it can be used in
APM30H(Ver.D), APM30H(Ver.D_A1), APM30H(Ver.D_A2), APM30H(Ver.D_B),
BTS3012(Ver.D_Z), BTS3012AE(Ver.D_Z), and IMS06. The EPU05A is classified into four
types: EPU05A-02, EPU05A-03, EPU05A-04, and EPU05A-05. An EPU05A-02 or
EPU05A-04 applies to a separated macro base station, and an EPU05A-03 or EPU05A-05
applies to a distributed base station.

An EPU05A-02 or EPU05A-04 consists of an EPU05A-02 or EPU05A-04 subrack, a PMU
11A, and PSUs (R4850G2).

separated macro base station in different AC input scenarios.

An EPU05A-02 or EPU05A-04 subrack performs the following AC power distribution
functions:
Provides two AC outputs. One is used for the service outlet unit (SOU). The other
one is connected to the AC junction box on the left of the cabinet, and divided into
four AC power outputs, which are then provided for the heater or heating film.
Reports AC input surge protection alarms.
An EPU05A-02 or EPU05A-04 subrack provides 12 DC outputs for a separated macro
base station.

DIP Switch
There is a DIP switch on the left panel of the PMU 11A. The DIP switch has eight bits, where
the four least significant bits 1, 2, 3, and 4 define the monitoring address of the PMU 11A,
and the four most significant bits 5, 6, 7, and 8 are not defined but reserved for future use.
ON is indicated by 1, and OFF is indicated by 0. The monitoring address of the PMU 11A is
set to 3 by default before delivery, as shown in the following figure.

At a site configured with two or more APM30Hs, if two PMU units are connected to one RS485 bus for
the BBU, the monitoring address of the other PMU is set to 4. That is, the lower four bits of the DIP switch

6.2 AC Junction Box


When a heater or a heating film is configured, the AC Junction Box feeds power to the heater
or the heating film. It is used in the BTS3900AL, APM30H, TMC11H, IBBS700D, and
IBBS700T cabinets.

Exterior
An AC Junction Box is installed on the left inner side of the APM30H, TMC11H, IBBS700D,
or IBBS700T. In the BTS3900AL, the AC Junction Box is installed on the right inner side of
the cabinet. The following figure shows the position and exterior of the AC Junction Box in

The AC Junction Box used in the BTS3900AL, APM30H, TMC11H, IBBS700D and
IBBS700T performs the following functions:
The PDU05A-01 feeds power to the AC Junction Box in the BTS3900AL. The power is
divided into four AC power outputs, which are then provided for the heater in the
cabinet.
The EPU subrack feeds power into the AC Junction Box in the APM30H. The power is
divided into four AC power outputs, which are then provided for the heater in the cabinet
or heating film in the IBBS200D.
The AC Junction Box in the APM30H feeds power into the AC Junction Box in the
TMC11H. The power is divided into four AC power outputs, which are then provided for
the heater or service outlet unit (SOU) in the cabinet.
The AC Junction Box in the primary cabinet (APM30H, BTS3900AL, or
TP48600A-H17B1) feeds power into the AC Junction Box in the IBBS700D or
IBBS700T. The power is divided into four AC power outputs, which are then provided
for the heater in the cabinet.

An electronic label unit (ELU) reports the cabinet type automatically to facilitate
troubleshooting. ELU can be used in BTS3900, BTS3900L, APM30H series, and

6.5 Door Status Sensor


A door status sensor reports the status (open or closed) of a door. It can be used in any of the
following cabinets: BTS3900AL(Ver.A), OMB, OMB (Ver.C), APM30H, RFC, TMC11H,
IBBS200D, IBBS200T, IBBS700D, and IBBS700T.

Exterior
A door status sensor consists of a magnet and a switch. The following figures show the

6.6 (Optional) Filler Module


A filler module is a standard plastic component, which prevents heat reflux in the empty space
below the BBU and improves the heat dissipation in the cabinet. Filler modules can be
installed in the customer space of an APM30H(Ver.B), APM30H(Ver.C), TMC11H(Ver.B),
TMC11H(Ver.C), BTS3012AE(Ver.D_Z).

A filler module is installed in the customer space below the BBU to prevent heat reflux in the
empty space below the BBU.

In an APM30H, TMC11H, BTS3012AE(Ver.D_Z)the filler module is configured in the customer space by


default. Before installing other modules, first remove the filler module. For details about removing a filler
module, see chapter "Installing Optional Modules and Cables" in the "Installation Guide".

6.7 (Optional) AC Heater


An AC heater ensures that the customer equipment in a cabinet works within the acceptable
temperature range. It is optionally installed in the customer space in an APM30H or
TMC11H.

A monitoring signal cable for the door status sensor is used to inform the monitoring board of
the door status that is obtained from the door status sensor. Cabinets configured with door
status sensors are as follows: APM30H, TMC11H, RFC, IBBS200D, IBBS200T, BTS3900AL,
OMB, OMB (Ver.C), IBBS700D and IBBS700T.

Exterior
Monitoring signal cables for door status sensors are classified into three types according to the

Product Description

Cable 1 has a 2-pin straight socket at one end, which is connected to the HPMI. Cable 1 has a bare wire
and a cord end terminal at the other end, which are connected to a door status sensor and a cable
terminal block, respectively.
Cable 2 has a bare wire at one end, which is connected to a door status sensor. Cable 2 has a cord end
terminal at the other end, which is connected to a cable terminal block.
Cable 3 has a cord end terminal at each end. The two cord end terminals are connected to the two ports
on one side of the cable terminal block.

Product Description

Monitoring Signal Transfer Cable for the Fan in the Front Door
A monitoring signal transfer cable for the fan in the front door feeds power into the fan in the
front door of the APM30H. It also transmits fan monitoring signals to a monitoring board in
the cabinet.

PMU 11A-CMUEA Monitoring Signal Cable


The PMU 11A-CMUEA monitoring signal cable connects the PMU and the CMUEA in the
FAN 02D. It transmits the RS485 signals collected by the PMU to the BBU through the
CMUEA. This monitoring signal cable is 1.1 m (3.61 ft) long.
