Seniors Batch Week

By: Nicole Andres

The Assumption College senior batch week for the school year 2011-2012 was held on
the third week of November starting from the 14th to the 18th with the theme Time to Shine and
shine they did. Spearheaded by Assumption Student Councils Aljine Bautista and Mona Garcia, the
week was filled with fun and relevant events starting with GUTS: Girls United to Serve, a fundraising
event for the annual event Paskong Assumptionista and Batch Palm Printing.

Second and fourth day of the week witnessed the talk about the how our senior ladies
should present their image to the work place professionally, how to effectively manage their finances,
and how to achieve balance between their personal life and work life.

According to fourth year graduating student Fiona Manto from the Media Production
department: The talk was helpful for us, seniors, because it was all about presenting oneself in a
professional manner and knowing how to manage own finances. After graduating, we will be young
professionals. And as "yuppies", we should know how to sell ourselves effectively. The other half of the
talk also made us understand that we should be responsible with our own finances. We should budget it
wisely, and we must know our limits.

A block talent show and the presenting of the BIDA and TOGA awards were supposed to
be held at the small stage on the last day of the senior week. Due to circumstances, however, the event
was moved to a later date: November 23, 2011 during the Juniors batch week. It was held at 5 th floor,
Therese Emmanuel Building. The BIDA awardees are as follows: Kate May Rusiana from block 4W1,
Virginia Barros from 4MM, Biel Berredo from 4H1, Alexandria Matro from 4C1, Joanne Atienza from 4J1,
Eriza Reyes from 4A1, Cherish Cabiladas from 4P2/4P3 and Yasmin Ignacio from 4B1/4B2 while winners
of the block talent competition are the blocks 4J1 as the champion, 4MM as first runner-up and 4P3 as
second runner-up. The winning blocks received P3,000.00, P1,500.00, P1,000.00 respectively and the
best block representative award went to Shiela Cornejo.

As quoted from Inna Castillo, a Theatre Arts & Media Education senior student: These
programs (especially the seminars) are very important to us, seniors, because it can help us prepare for
the next stage of our lives -- it helps us get a gist on what we need, what to do, and how to cope with
both privileges and responsibilities that come with the next stage of our lives which is the work
environment. As the year slowly comes to a close and our seniors prepare for the next stage of their
lives, we wish them all the best in their undertakings. We are most proud of you, seniors. Best of luck!
