Goals

Understand the importance of logistics and transportation in international

trade, and led time within the organization, identify how to include delivery
times in logistics processes, taking as a reference the policies of every
company.

Reflect on the need to prepare merchandise for export, including both aspects
related to physical protection (packaging) and legal-economic protection
(insurance). To know the operation of the different means of international
transport of goods, the agents involved and the necessary documentation..
"Lead time and its importance within the organization"

Delivery time or Lead Time is currently a term widely used in the world of
logistics, since it allows determining the length of time, from the beginning of
an operational process until it ends.

The transport lead time is the time in days that the operation takes place, from
the time a vehicle is loaded until it is unloaded at the destination point.

Some of the logistics processes covered by Led Time are:

1. The time consumed from purchases to delivery.

2. The times in which orders are incurred.
3. The times that take the manufacturing orders.
4. Purchase orders.
5. Transportation and enlistment times.
6. The waiting times that spends on getting the inputs.
7. Inventories, among other elements.

Logistic lead time: provides a reference of the responsiveness of the logistics

chain, as well as the degree of flexibility of the company.

Long delivery times can lead to customer dissatisfaction on the part of

customers and therefore a bad reputation for the company, which is why
which is special customer care that the customer should expect to get their
product, a factor that directly affects the sales that can lead to norms for
growth and profits of the company. In the business world, companies that have
excelled over their competitors stand out because they have achieved a
considerable reduction in delivery times compared to companies in the same
sector; Get a competitive advantage for your company.

Reduce delivery times:

It is advisable for companies to work together with their suppliers to reduce

delivery times and improve responsiveness as this gives them more time to
make decisions before committing to customer orders. Reason why, it is
important for the company to consider within its policies the selection of
suppliers that contribute to preserve the competitive priorities of the products
or services they offer, so it must evaluate their ability to perform their
deliveries effectively and on time , readying the goods promptly and order
volumes. Also, it is very important that you guarantee the delivery of the
products requested and the compliance with the quality standards of your
products and prices.

Total Lead time:

This is a sum of different times, which includes the sum of Lead Time of
provisioning, storage and transport.

Procurement Lead Time: is the average time spent incurred from requiring
a product to suppliers until the product is physically in the warehouse and the
respective revision is made.

Storage Lead Time: is the average time that a product remains in the
warehouse and is calculated from the rotation of the group or family of
products studied.
Transport Lead Time: As we saw in the initial example, it is the time that
elapses in days or hours, from when a vehicle is loaded until it is unloaded at
the destination point, It is important to keep in mind that at this time you add
the time spent in preparing the expeditions.

The Lead Time and its relation to costs:

One of the goals of any company is to reduce the time it takes a product to
enter supply until it comes out. Achieving this contributes to reducing money,
since it does not waste the time in relocations and movements of the materials
and thus manages to reduce the logistical costs that this entails.

On the other hand, a reduction in lead time also leads to a reduction of

inventories in progress, which is a reduction of the same costs, because
reducing the times, reduce costs.

Alternatives:

The alternatives offered in international logistics are larger than in the national
one. The means of transport, documentation, insurance, packaging, etc.,
require greater professionalism by those responsible for logistics management.
In addition, this complexity is accentuated by the import barriers imposed by
the legislations of some countries. At present the types of vehicles for the
transport of load in our country are very varied, mainly by the great amount of
raw materials, supplies and products that are produced in all the territory.
To export:

I must export a product in which I will give as a proposal the mode and the
means of transport that I will use to send the product, I also want to expose
two routes for the same one sent, but that my product has the same final
destination, I also want give response to the best route selected by the delivery
time, the climate is important to take into account, because depending on
whether or not the delivery will be affected, costs are important to take into
account, as the routes because these help with the low costs of services and
transportation of our products, but I consider that all however have sales and
disadvantages.

Example: air transport is much more expensive because of tariffs, taxes and
aircraft fuel, this as a disadvantage but represents a major advantage in the
moment of transporting products requested immediately by the customer
unlike the river or water mode, the products take much longer to reach their
destination, although maritime taxes are much lower, but every company
every customer prefers products, goods or raw materials just in time since the
goal is to reduce the time it takes a product since which enters into supply
until it leaves, to the satisfaction of others giving and fulfilling the needs and
requirements of all the actors of the logistics network.
Shipped from the product:

For the dispatch of the merchandise to be used, different means of transport

that each carry refrigerated containers. These devices control the temperature
of the load in a range of -25 C to 25 C, preserving and prolonging the life
cycle of perishable products. The refrigerated containers are optimal for the
storage of perishable products like, in this case the cheeses. These containers
provide controlled temperature environments ranging from minus thirty
degrees Celsius (-30 C) to room temperature. Each is equipped with a
permanent cooling unit, which ensures the temperature is maintained
depending on the requirement of the load. Refrigerated Containers are
constructed to ensure complete cooling or freezing of each part of the load.
Cold air circulates through the ventilated floor to reach all parts of the load,
"which must be properly stowed". The load should not be stacked near the
roof of the equipment. There must be a clearance of 15-20 cm above the load
for proper air circulation. The maximum height line can be found inside most
equipment.
ROUTE # 1

A truck tract leaves from the processing plant expo lcteos Ltda., Located in
the city of Medellin Antioquia Colombia to the airport Jos Maria Crdoba,
that is in the municipality of Rio Negro Antioquia Colombia, in the airport the
load is made with forklift, special equipment, to a cargo plane, this one leaves
at the specific time and at the right time, the load is mounted to the airplane
and it is realized by means of special forklift with speed and maximum
security to avoid the damage of the product, the flight leaves at 8 am to
Miami, to Miami International Airport, the airport is unloaded directly on
refrigerated trucks and delivery is made.

With the collaboration and support of a logistics operator and at the same time
an international consultant, specialized in the processes of importing
perishable foods, I will achieve the satisfaction of my clients, this also in order
to control the transportation from the origin, ensuring the best transit time
until the products reach their final destination...

Importance of time and delivery time:

Porque nos da mayor flexibilidad y mayor capacidad de respuesta (flexibility

and responsiveness). Y por qu es mejor tener flexibilidad y capacidad de
respuesta?

Tener un Lead Time corto:

empresa.

Conclusin del lead time

Logistics processes must be managed from an approach that involves the total
lead time of the procurement, storage, and production and delivery process.

This involves a change of perspective regarding the perception of logistics

processes where all actors in the chain must actively participate, sharing
information and efforts to reach a broader thinking and where all contribute
ideas to better manage the problems that can be presented in the transport and
delivery of the products.
