PAVEMENT MARKING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (PMMS)

ROAD COMMISSION FOR OAKLAND COUNTY, MICHIGAN

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), Pontiac, Michigan, has been a user of MS2s Traffic Signal
Management System (TSMS), our Traffic Count Database System (TCDS), and our Traffic Crash Location System (TCLS)
since 1997. The RCOC maintains more than 2,700 miles of county roads and over 230 miles of state highways. In early
2013, RCOC contracted with MS2 to provide a Pavement Marking Management System (PMMS) that would help
them manage 2,000 pavement markings throughout the County through the convenience of a web-based portal.

The PMMS module organizes the

agencys legend and striping data.
It allows traffic engineers to maintain
PMMS locations where legend and
striping activity is performed, create
work orders, and track the quantity
and cost details of completed work.

Several time saving features are

available in MS2s PMMS. Engineers
can easily search the PMMS marking locations using numerous database search filters such as road type, street
name, community name and more. The interactive map makes it easy to zoom and click on a marking location.
Inventory diagrams are available for all marking locations indicting the quantity of the material at the location. An
important feature is the ability to manage current costs and future program budgeting since the PMMS maintains up-
to-date legend and striping unit prices.
