When the Aztecs saw an eagle perched on a
cactus on the marshy land near the southwest
border of Lake Texcoco, they took it as a sign to
build their settlement there.

 History of Russian Flag
Many centuries ago the people of Russia
used a pole with tufts of grass, twigs or
ponytail attached to the top of it instead
of a flag. This construction was usually
painted into a bright color. It was called
the stiag which meant a banner. The
main purpose of this stiag was to gather
people around it, so that they could
protect their land, village, or city. After
some time has passed, banners evolved.
Now they were made of a piece of cloth
usually colored in red. Being blown by
the wind a banner was projecting the
feeling of confidence and courage
towards the warriors or defenders.
 The Russian flag as we know it today was
admitted by Russian Tsar Peter the Great in the
eighteen century. It consists of the three
horizontal lines that are colored in white, blue
and red.
