Course Description Earth Science is primarily the study of our planet, Earth. We will explore the composition of the
Earth, how it is constantly changing, and the forces that cause these changes.
We will examine the dynamic processes of the Earths interior, surface, oceans, atmosphere, and the hydrosphere.
We will also study what causes Earths seasons, heat transfer, the moon cycle, tides, and currents.
We will conclude by studying our solar system and the Milky Way galaxy.

Students must have 2 composition note books for the year. (spiral bound is okay, but composition is
preferred)
Students must have at least 2 pencils/pens each day.
Glue sticks, colored pencils for interactive notebook.
The Agenda must be used as a hall pass and recording homework.

Tutorial Help is available after school on Mondays from 4:30 until 5:15 by appointment. Call or e-mail to set up a
date at least 24 hours ahead.

Conduct Grades The following are the standards for determining conduct grades throughout the school.

S Satisfactory Consistently follows school rules and does not interfere with the learning of others.

Needs
N Causes minor class disruptions. Only requires verbal warnings to correct misbehaviors.
Improvement

Consistently causes classroom disruptions that interfere with the learning of others. Generally
U Unsatisfactory
does not correct misbehaviors even after warnings.

Make-Up Procedure for Absence or Suspension Students will be given the number of days absent plus
one day to make up classwork. Suspension assignments will be ready for pick-up at the main office no
later than one day after the suspension.

Discipline- Students are expected to adhere to the rules and policies of Lindley Sixth Grade Academy and Cobb
County as stated in the student agenda.

Note- This syllabus is a general outline of the earth science course and is subject to modification.
