ECS Quick
Configuration Guide
Issue: 03
Date: 2015-09-20

Product Overview
The eSpace Unified Communications (UC) solution provides basic IP telephony (IPT) services and value-added
Enhanced Communication Suite (ECS) services. To implement the IPT services, an enterprise needs to deploy only
the unified gateway and IP phones. To implement ECS services such as instant messaging (IM), group, status
presence, multimedia meeting, and corporate directory, an enterprise must deploy the ECS and UC soft terminals in
addition to the unified gateway and IP phones. The ECS suite consists of the eServer, mobile access agent (MAA),
and Meeting MS. UC soft terminals include the eSpace Desktop and eSpace Mobile (HD).

Document Overview
This topic describes how to quickly implement ECS services such as IM, group, status presence,
multimedia meeting, and corporate directory in the single-node networking scenario, including data
planning, configuration, and verification operations. Before performing the operations described
in this document, ensure that you have configured the unified gateway, IP phones, and
trunks by referring to the eSpace UC V200R003 IPT Quick Configuration Guide.
During the configuration, you may need to consult the following documents:

1 Scenario Description
This document describes how to quickly configure the ECS services provided by the eSpace UC solution based on
the following service requirements and device networking.
1a Service Requirements
This document describes how to quickly configure the services described in the following table. For details about how
to configure other services, see the eSpace UC Product Documentation.
Service Description
IM Enables enterprise users to send and receive instant messages using UC soft terminals.

Enables enterprise users to initiate voice calls to each other.

Voice call After the trunk for connecting to a public switched telephone network (PSTN) is
configured on the unified gateway, enterprise users can also make incoming and
outgoing calls with PSTN users.
Enables enterprise users to initiate and join instant voice/multimedia meetings or
Voice/Multimedia meeting
schedule voice/multimedia meetings that will be held at specified time.
Enables enterprise users to view and query enterprise contacts using UC soft terminals
Corporate directory
or IP phones.
Enables enterprise users who have logged in to an IP phone and the eSpace Desktop
Phone linkage simultaneously to use the IP phone to answer, end, and reject calls received on the
eSpace Desktop.

This network applies to an enterprise with less than 10,000 users and no branches. On this network, the unified
gateway and service server are deployed in the enterprise headquarters.
The service server is an RH2285 on which the BMU, AppAgent, eServer, MAA, Meeting MS and UMServer are
co-deployed.
Functioning as an IP private branch exchange (PBX), the unified gateway provides the call control functions and
connects to the PSTN through a trunk to implement voice communication between enterprise users and between
enterprise users and PSTN users.
IP phones are registered with the unified gateway, and initiate authentication requests to the unified gateway.
The eSpace Desktop initiates authentication requests to the eServer during login.
The eSpace Mobile (HD) initiates authentication requests to the eServer through the MAA and AppAgent during
login.

The eSpace Desktop and eSpace Mobile (HD) are registered with the unified gateway for making voice calls.

4c Users
Configuring SIP Numbers
You need to configure SIP numbers for UC soft terminal users and IP phone users. The procedures for configuring SIP numbers for
the two types of users are similar. If you have configured SIP numbers for IP phone users by referring to section "Configuring SIP
Users" in the eSpace UC IPT Quick Configuration Guide, you do not need to configure SIP numbers for IP phone users again.

Step Operation Result or Other Related Information

1 Choose UC Management > SIP Number Maintenance. -
Click Add, enter the SIP number information, and click OK.

Based on the system prompt, check whether prefix 8

automatically added by the system conflicts with the
prefix configured on the unified gateway. If no, click
OK.
This step describes how to add SIP numbers in
batches. The procedure for adding a single SIP
number is similar. For details about how to configure
SIP numbers for linkage, see section 12 Verifying
Phone Linkage.
Enter the SIP number information based on section 2a
User Plan.

A UC account can be used to log in to an UC soft terminal and
initiate calls only after the UC account is bound to a SIP number.
Password Allocation Mode: Set this parameter to Specified.
The password is used to log in to UC soft terminals and the BMU
self-service page.
Role: Set this parameter to Normal User.
Set other parameters based on the site requirements or use the

The voice call service can be used immediately after the eSpace Desktop and eSpace Mobile are deployed. No special
configuration is required.
To enable internal users in an enterprise to make voice calls with external users, you must configure the trunk for
connecting the unified gateway to the PSTN. For details, see section "Configuring Trunks" in the eSpace UC IPT Quick
Configuration Guide.
