Introduction:
One of the most important decision that a marketer has to take in the area of Product is in
respect of branding. He/ She has to decide whether the firms Products will be marketed under a
brand name.
What is Branding
Meaning of Brand
1.Brand- A brand is a name, term, sign, symbol, design or some combination of them,
used to identify the products of one firm and to differentiate them from those of the
competitors. For example Mercedes ,Parker ,Nike ,Woodland , Asian Paints ,Onida and
2.Brand Name: That part of a brand which can be spoken is called a brand name. For example
Real juice, Maggie, Kitkat are the brand names.
3.Brand Mark: That part of a brand which can be recognized only but cannot be spoken is called
brand mark. It appears in the form of a symbol, design, or distinct colour scheme. For example
the cartoon image of uncle on the packet of uncle chips, Gattu of Asian Paints.etc are some
example of Brand Marks.
4.Trade Mark: A brand or a part of a brand that is given legal protection against its use by other
firms is called trade mark. Thus, the firm which got its brand registerd gets the exclusive right
for its use. In that case, no other firm can use such name or mark in the country.
Activities Involved In Making Brand
1. Planning- Before you begin , ask some key questions about the brand you want to create.
Who is your target audiences? (Think of age groups , genders , and traits)
What will set your brand apart from others ?
What will keep your customers coming back for more?
2. Design Visual Identity- Ask a designer to create a visual identity .Design a logo and
make sure it looks/feels like the brand you want to create . Every design decision must be
attractive so that more and more consumers get attract to brand dont forget about details
like color choices and font size.
3. Updates and Maintenance-No matter how young or old your brand is, you should always
be monitoring how your brand is being perceived.
Think about what areas seem to be lacking .Does your logo need a makeover . Its
important to make sure your branding system doesnt feel outdated , it doesnt need to be
overly trendy , but it shouldnt look out of date.

Branding is not just about giving a name or attractive logo or design. It is one of the most
challenging task . Every organization have to face these challenges:

Brands are created ,but on long term basis it is not necessary that they remain in a race, because
sometimes due to dynamic environment it is not necessary that they remain in touch with new
updations .So, it is very necessary that they remain in touch with new updations and they keep on
adding it.
2. Clutter:
Consumers are bombarded every day by hundreds and sometimes thousands of difficult. It is
hard to get anyone to pay attention to your brand. To stand out brand need to be focused and
unique, great brand means something unique in consumers mind. Brands to needs to create
attention by creative advertising and innovative use of media.
Branding an inside job: Employee Branding
So, often people think branding means creating a name , logo or tagline. All the outside work a
few recognize that great brands actually start inside. Branding is an inside job . Leaders mobilize
their entire employees base to talk up, live out and propagate their brands in the world .Today
,we see that without employees driving it forward, a brand doesnt go very far. A very well said
that If you look after your internal customers you dont have to worry about the customers.
Inside, you need brand culture leaders . Leaders are those who others want to follow and who
have influence on others. Find those individuals in the organizations that have strong
followership.

2.Easy in filing complaint: Branding ensures a particular level of quality of the product. If there
is any deviation in the quality, the customers can make a complaint to the manufacturer or the
marketer.

Some of the things which help or create a positive environment among employees and the
employers are listed below . It is necessary to understand what makes your company a great
place to work .
It is very important to make an employer feel good about his/her work. Therefore, it is very
necessary to encourage the employees of the company , through some kind of professional
encouragement such as promotions or bonuses or perks. All these things help an employee to
feel better or great in a company.
