However, nominal sizes of piping components shall be in accordance with SI unit, 2. DESIGN BASIS The fire fighting system design shall be based on the assumption that there will be only one ‘major fire occur at a time, 2.1 Fire water supply and distribution The fire water is supplied by fire water pump and distribute throughout the plant by underground pipeline. The fire water main shall be a ring and shall be well designed in the whole Project Plant. The underground fire water is a high-pressure fire fighting water pipe system which the pressure of the firewater in the mains shall be maintained at 784.5 kPag even at the remotest hhydrant from fire pump. The fire fighting system design shall be based on the assumption that there will be only one major fire occur at a time. A complete underground ring piping system shall be provided with, the block valves shall have extended stem above ground and able to indicate the open or close position. The block valves shall be installed so that no more than five (5) fire protection devices (e.g. hydrants with monitor or water sprinkler system), serving a single fire risk area are out of service at any one time in the event of an outage of part of the firewater mains. So that each loops of the system can be isolated which outdoor and indoor fire protection shall be provided basically as show in this document however the detail design will be verified during engineering design stage Tian ode Dos ICaIe TCL aero MICCO-ANP- MICcO VINACOMIN | TT-PI-91-ED-02001 F-033 shear ‘Consortium: ThyssenKrupp Uhde GmbH + TTCL Group ae CALCULATION SHEET FOR GROUP FIRE FIGHTING SYSTEM wo pa] ro] 8] 0 2.2 Fire water Demand The largest fire water demand of one of the fire risk areas shall be the maximum fire water demand based on a single major fire breaking out in one fire risk area in any one time, The minimum fire water demand shall be estimated according to the following cases (1) Water demand for two fire water monitors, or (2) Firewater demand for one water spray system + one fire water monitor, o (3) Firewater demand for one water spray system + two water hydrants (4) Fire water demand for two fire monitors + two water hydrants 2.3 Fire water pump ‘The fire water pump station consists of 3 types of pump as below; = One diesel engine fire water pump * One electrical fire water pump = Two jockey fire water pumps Fire pump is supplied fire water from Treated water tank which has the reserved water for 3 hours of fire extinguishing, 2.4 Fire water hydrant Fire hydrant shall be provided throughout the Project Plant to extinguish fire manually, spaced at about 70 meter intervals. Water hydrant with monitor shall be wet barrel type 150 mm (6 inch) hydrants, These hydrants shall have two (2) 65 mm (2-1/2 inch) hose connection gate valve with chain and cap for hose connection, one (1) 100 mm (4 inch) pumper connection gate valve with chain and cap and 150 mm (6 inch) gate valve for shutoff. CALCULATION Firewater supply for the permanent fire fighting installation should be based on providing a 3-hours supply for extinguishing the largest fire. 3.1 Calculation for fire water pump supply — Refer to fire water consumption of Equipment warehouse area (Other scope) shall be 186.5 m°/hr (51.8 Lps) — Fire Hose System Refer to NFPA 13 (Table 11.2.3.1.2 Page no.13-119) Minimum Pressure 451.20 kPa. Minimum Flow Rate 113.5. m’/hr. 3.2 Fire pump capacity 3.2.1 Fire water consumption around Equipment warehouse area (1) Fire water consumption in warehouse = 186.5 m/hr. (2) Fire Hose System = 113.5 mh. Total minimum flow rate requirement = Fire water consumption in warehouse + Fire hose system = 186.5 + 113.5 m°/hr 300.0 m*/hr So, required minimum fire pump capacity shall be more than 300.0 m°/hr (5,000.0 Ipm). 3.2.2 Fire water consumption around Cooling tower and NH storage tank area a) Cooling tower fire Fant oo Coie Doe Baa TEC MICCO-ANP MIccO VINACOMIN | TT-PI-91-ED-02001 F-033 ee Consortium: ThyssenKrupp Uhde GmbH + TTCL Group ee CALCULATION SHEET FOR hoe FIRE FIGHTING SYSTEM Rev [02] Page| 8 | of [10 A cooling tower fire would lead to simultaneous operation of two monitors and two hy- Grants, each operating at 500 gal/min (1,890 Lpm or 113.5 m°/h).
