AFFLICTED PLANETS

Term, afflicted planets is used a lot in astrology books. In other words, authors of Astrology write about it a
lot. Lets us try to understand this term. A planet is said to be afflicted if it is conjunct with or aspected by
malefic planets or placed in the 6 8 12 houses. When we say malefic normally the term is used for natural
malefics and in traditional astrology Rahu, Ketu, Saturn and Mars are considered to be malefics. Now Saturn
and Mars as you know have three aspects and one placement or in other words they effect three houses in
horoscope traditionally. Rahu and Ketu aspect two houses each and placement is in one house. Hence they
effect three houses in totality. Summing up

Saturn 4 houses

Mars 4 houses

Rahu 3 houses

Ketu 3 houses

Total = 14 houses.

Hence by general commonsense there will be hardly one or two houses and hardly any planet would be left
without affliction in every horoscope. In hindi the word Afflicted means Peedit. So according to traditional
authors of astrology afflicted planet is bound to give bad results in all walks of life. To finally conclude,
everyone on this earth is in pain in all walks of life if we go by afflicted planets results as advocated by
traditional authors of astrology. Obviously reality is different. Everyone has some plus and some minus in
life and situations change with the time.
