Chapter I
Introduction
1.1 Background
Language is very important in human life. Language is means of
communication. Without a language, a person cannot communicate with others.
English is a language in the world. People call it a international language. In our
school, the English language has been given since the fourth grade of the elementary
school up to university.
Most people in the world from the different countries and nations speak
language. Also, many scientific studies such as education, science, religion,
technology, commerce or politic are written in the language.
Language includes four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Writing
is language activity that needs much cognitive concentration. When writing, a
writer is challenged to use just linguistics code without helping of other codes, take
for instance, gestures. A writer has to arrange some ideas and transform them into
his thinking carefully in writing codes on papers.

Discussion
Generally there are two formulas for the stated hours are:
Hours + Minutes
This method is the easiest way to show the time, just read the numbers in
English. Example: 02.25 = It's two twenty-five.
Minutes + past / to + hour
In this way we should mention the first minute of the new clock and use the
words 'past' and 'to' to explain less or more minutes during that hour.
Example: 08.10 = It's ten past eight.

In the pronunciation time can be done in 2 ways, as follows :
Hours followed by Minutes
6.25: It is six twenty-five.
3.17: It is three seventeen.
8.55: It is eight fifty-five.
9.40: It is nine forty.
Minute followed by Clock
6.25: It is twenty-five past six.
3.17: It is seventeen past three.
8.55: It is five to nine.
9.40: It is twenty to ten.

What time is it? It is 3.20.
We can say:
It is three twenty.
It is twenty past three.

3.1 Conclusion
In the pronunciation time there are several terms used, such as o'clock, a
quarter, half, past, and to. there are also several ways in the pronunciation time,
the hour followed by minutes and minutes followed by hours. we must be able
to say the time because it is very important and also widely used in everyday
life.
