Enhanced Oil Recovery

This is probably the easiest part of the syllabus to cover. But make sure that you cover it well to harness
the full advantage. Believe it or not, your job is done with only the few pages of the two pdfs provided
by Abhishek Gupta Sir.

1. While the hand written notes cover mostly the theoretical aspects of EOR, the University paper covers
the conceptual parts. Multiple readings of the latter are advised. Pay special attention to concept of
miscible flooding which is lucid in the text. Sometimes match the following type questions may be
expected from screening criteria.

2. Making concise notes for the theoretical parts is strongly advised, given the cost to benefit ratio. This
is indeed a mark fetching section with a potential for a lot of questions being asked. Ignore it at your
own risk.

3. I will upload additional material for a detailed discussion on concepts like mobility ratio, sweep
efficiency, Lorentz coefficient and different EOR methods. This should not be an optional reading, but
read it only after finishing the above material. You will then be able to supplement the preliminary
knowledge with additional concepts and facts.

4. Do not go for any specialized books on EOR!! GATE will never ask anything beyond the material that
has been discussed.
