Reflection:
I roughly summarized the overall situation that happen before the revolution and in the
revolution. Due to my VARK survey, I watch a youtube video and summarize it to the note taking
part. I really did well on this part because I clearly understand the revolution from the start. I also
did some reading about the glorious revolution which is more complicated and more in-detailed.
Actually I do not really understand some of the articles because the words that they used are very
hard to understand. I did complete my goal because I got all of the basic information of the
glorious revolution and I can answer the question for today. Moreover, I wonder why James II was
a Catholic while other were Protestant. So, the next things I will do is find out why James II was a
Catholic and write a timeline for the glorious revolution.

Reflection:
I have found more information about Glorious revolution. It is more specific in
time(1688-1689). At first, I didnt really do well because one of the website I used was very hard to
understand. So, I tried to use the dictionary to help me with the words, and also use other
websites to help explain the parts that I dont understand. As a result, I can complete my goal
because I can find the information of the revolution and I totally understand it. Next, I will answer
the question that I have set. If I cant answer them, I will find more information to reach the
answer.

Note:
Lockeanism
In glorious revolution, James II, who want to have an absolute power, were revolted by the
Protestant. This show that people have rights to rebel in order to make the government and the
citizen to have the same agreement. The parliament have similar thought as Locke because they
didt like an absolute-ruler, they live as a society that everyone have right and able to express their
thought.
Hobbesianism
Hobbes had a pessimistic view go human nature. Hobbes natural philosophy stated that
human being are selfish. Men are condemned to endless violent conflict due to their state of
nature. He always believe that the only correct form of government was the absolute monarchy
which was the only form to be able to control these kind of human state of nature. People have no
right to rebel.
In glorious revolution, James II may have a similar thought as Hobbes due to the fact that
James want to use his absolute power to control the government. James developed the believe
that Parliament could only be controlled by authoritarian approach. This believe was opposite to
Lockes believe.

Reflection:
I find information about the ideologies and movements that drove the glorious revolution.
At first when I consider about the answer for the connection, it was very hard to connect the
ideologies to the revolution due to the understanding of the ideologies. Before the teacher inform
about Hobbes and Locke, I have no idea what they have done. However, after the class I clearly
understand all the ideologies. Now it is easier to connect the ideologies to the glorious revolution
with just a little of research and the goal is completed!
Note:
1. We want to learn about how these historical figures were involving in Glorious revolution
because in the information that I have found from the glorious revolution didnt even mention
them. Some of the historical figures were French but this is Englands revolution?
The French one are not the one we chose, however, France was a kings ally.
Because most of the population were Protestant, but James II was a Catholic.
People feared that the Roman Catholic Church and its pope would take control of their king
and their nation
3. How those historical figures influenced the life and thought of people in glorious revolution?
Thomas Hobbes
- James II was influenced by Hobbes a lot. He believed in Hobbes theories about people
an government. Then he tried to applied it to his own people by trying to rule with an
absolute power.
John Locke
- The Parliament and people were influenced by John Locke. They believed that people
have right to revolt the king if the king did not govern the country good enough. They
also did not like the ruler who rules with absolute power because they have right to
question the king, and they are able to give opinion.
Hobbesianism
7 of 12
- It was Hobbes ideas of human state of nature, purpose of government, representation
of citizens voice, rights, and violation of the social contract. These ideas are
contradicted to Lockes ideas
- In glorious revolution, James II may have a similar thought as Hobbes due to the fact
that James want to use his absolute power to control the government. James
developed the believe that Parliament could only be controlled by authoritarian
approach. This believe was opposite to Lockes believe.

Colonization
- The starting of the colonization in glorious revolution was driven by the Parliament, who
influenced by Lockes ideas, to overthrow the king, who influenced by Hobbes ideas.
5. How can we applied the obstacles we have learned from glorious revolution to our life?
- controlling people by absolute power might not last long because people dont like to
be oppressed. Therefore we have to be a good leader, we have to listen to other opinion
and advice then people will listen to you and respect you.

Reflection:
I have answered all the questions. The answer are mostly from the previous information
that I have found. Some of the information are from my friends because we did this as a group. I
did answer the question really well because it didnt require a long period of time to answer the
question. Also, the information I have found are very useful for answering the questions. The goal I
set are completed due to the answer of all the questions.

Reflection:
I planned the plot of the story our group are going to draw. My planning are quite easy to
understand and well organized because most of the information are already found. The flow of the
first of the story are good because I research very clear about situations and problems in the
revolution. The story will also contain explanations about those historical figures and ideologies.
Next I will start to draw an cartoon based on the plot.
Notes:
1. After Charles II who was a king of England died, His brother - James II - succeeded the throne
and became the king of England.
2. James II was a Catholic while most of the population included the Parliament and Bishops
were protestant. That meant big problem. The Englishmen feared that the Roman Catholic
church would take control of their nation
5. At that time, there were penal laws which oppress the Catholics, there were no voting, no
holding lands, no teaching Catholic or publishing book, and no worshipping.
7. He then used the royal dispensing power to suspend the limitations, and appointed his
Catholic supporters to high military and governmental positions.
11 of 12
9. The Declaration of Indulgence suspended all penal laws, allow people to worship out of the
church of England like in private houses or chapels, and ended the requirement that people
take various religious oaths before people advancement to civil or military oce.
10. When the Parliament and 7 Anglican Bishops heard about the Declaration, they began to find
a way to get rid of this king
13. People thought that when James died, he will abdicate the throne to Mary. And Mary will bring
back the Protestant
14.
15. After a long period of time, James son, James Edward Stuart, was born. He was going be a
Catholic like his parents
16. That wasnt a good news for the Englishmen. The parliament started to take a serious
discussions. They ended up revolting James II. This revolt might influence by John Locke
ideologies which stated that people have right to revolt or rebel in order to make the
government and the citizen to have an agreement.
17. James II might be influenced by Thomas Hobbes ideologies which he believed that the king
must have an absolute power and others have to follow.
18. This revolt might influence by John Locke ideologies which stated that people have right to
revolt or rebel in order to make the government and the citizen to have an agreement.
19. The 7 Anglican Bishops started to take an action by sending an invitation letter to William of
Orange.
20. They invited William of Orange to come and be their new king.
21. William of orange who was a dutch head of state always wanted to overthrow Jame II.
22. So William then led his army straight toward England by ships.
23. The colonization was starting because William was coming to overthrow James and conquer
England.
24. People who were at James IIs side are all shifted to Williams side.
30. Finally, the parliament come with an agreement called ill of Right which William had to agree
first.
31. The Bill of Right was an agreement between the king and the people included the parliament.
It was to make sure that the king wont make decision alone.
32. After William accepted and agreed with the Bill of Right, he and Mary then became the king
and queen of England
33. As a result, the monarch and the Parliament were sharing their power.

This is script for the video which will explain more than the pictures do. The script is based
on the information that I have found, so it is very simple to just rearrange and make it as a script. I
also recorded my voice for the video. This is the hard part. I have to rerecord many times because
the sound from my little brother getting in the record and my tongue sometimes didnt go along
really well with the words. I took more than an hour to get it done. But I finally make it! I am so
happy to finish all the recording even though it is just around four minutes long.
