Sex education should be made compulsory in schools.

At the start of this year, District of Columbia went ahead and implemented compulsory rules for sex
education and HIV education in the public schools. It mandated the authorities to get the help in
preparing the curriculum from medical professionals. It is seen as a debatable issue especially in the
countries like India where focus is paid more on the traditional culture and values. However, with the
changing time it seems many citizens of developing countries wants sex education to be made
compulsory in schools. What is your point of view on the matter? Should sex education be made
compulsory in schools?

Yes

It will generate more sex awareness among teenagers, and they would be in a better position to
understand the pros and cons of sex at young age.

Sex education in school will provide children with the knowledge of understanding the intentions of
ill-mined people and how to stay away from them.

Parents dont feel comfortable in talking about sex with their children and therefore, it becomes
responsibility of school to provide the necessary education in right direction.

There are many countries where teen pregnancy rate is high. The proper education will keep a hold
on teens pregnancy rate.

Sexual reproduction is just a part of science, and should be taught accordingly. The teachers should
drop a conservative approach so that teens can know more about the sexual diseases and the adverse
effects of sex in early age.

Lack of sex knowledge from a reliable sources makes the children seek it from outside world which
might not be vary safe. In lack of such knowledge they may become victims of improper sex life,
broken relationships and depression. Proper sex education at school can protect them from all these.

Lack of proper sex knowledge has led to girls popping iPill like a regular contraceptive pill without
knowing its health hazards.

With technological advancements, children have a very easy access to pornography. If not taught
properly, they might end up in wrong friend circle spoiling their life.

No

The sex education can have a negative impact on the thought process of teenagers and they can be
diverted from their main studies.

Human whether, adults or teenagers, have the tendency to try the things that are not considered safe.
Sex education will promote the teenagers to move in wrong direction.

There is a time for everything, and sex knowledge should be given at the right time and for the right
reasons.
Schools cant be made responsible for providing sex information, as it is the responsibility of parents
to tell their children about it.

Sex knowledge in an open class that has teenagers from both the gender can infuse a mutual
attraction between the two opposite genders.

More than sex knowledge it is the moral values that need to be developed in the child and this can be
done at home.

Conclusion

When with the changing world, everyone is adopting to the new techniques and fashion trends, why
should sex education be denied in schools. People make a hype over sex education when in fact
children seek all these information from various other sources. Instead of encouraging the children to
opt for the information from the other sources that can misguide them, it is better to implement sex
education in schools.

Question
Some people suggest that sex education should be a compulsory part of the secondary
curriculum.Write a two-sided argumentative esay expressing your veis on the subject.

In bygone days, many people regarded sex as a taboo suject and refrain from talking about it with their
teenagers. However, with the sexual problem seeing the red light in adolescent, the pendulum seems to
have swung the other way .People are becoming more comfortable to talk about sex now and suggest
that sex education should be a compulsory part of the secondary curriculum .In this essay,I would like
to examine the pros and cons about this suggestion.

With the news about young girls becoming unmarried mothers, teenagers perfroming one-night
stands, people in their early teens being infected with AIDS,etc,it is imperative to put sex education
into a compulsory part of the secondary curriculum. Our younger generation, which is sexually-open
yet sexually-ignorant,need to be encouraged to understand and respect the value of sex
Appropriate sex education in school has a great impact on preventing sexual problems in puberty.
Children in puberty, tend to be curious about the opposite sex and prone to be victims sexually
transmitted diseases easily due to their inadequate knowledge about sex.Take an example,it is not
news to hear that the future of two teenagers is ruined by an unexpected child, after a wild night.Such
a situation could have been avoided if the two had be introduced with a proper attitude towards sex.

Added to the above, sex education elements are covered to strengthen teenagers' understanding of
sexuality issues, and enhance their ability to analyse and judge related personal and social issues with
rational and responsible attitudes.Hence, teenagers can analyse what is wrong and what is right young
people are able to communicate, listen, negotiate with others, ask for and identify sources of help and
advice when it comes to sex relationship.

Now that we have looked at the pros of put sex education into a compulsory part of the secondary
curriculum, which include preventing teenagers from enagaging in sex, helping teenagers to cultivate
the clear understanding of right and wrong,I will examine the cons about this issues.

First of all, students may still suffer from embarrassment or get excitable by the topic matter. This can
cause for out-of-control classrooms if students take to giggling or making inappropriate remarks. After
that teachers are not always trained how to properly teach sex education courses and may transgress
their own beliefs or morals into the subject matter rather than stick with the facts. In addition, sex
education is often viewed as a "recreational" course and not a serious subject .This is a direct
correlation to the fact that there are no grades or scores to be derived from class.

The issue of whether sex education should be a compulsory part of the secondary curriculum has both
supporters and critics. As far as I am concerned,I would support it on the basis of the interests of
teenagers.

reasons why religion in educational system:

It improves brain development.

A recent study found that religious children are more likely to believe fictional tales and have a
tougher time separating fantasy from reality. But thats not all that bad. Believing in fiction and
having a creative mind can be beneficial in brain development. Psychology Today, for example, found
that pretend play is good for children.

It keeps kids out of trouble.

For schools worried about disciplining children in the classroom, religion can help with that. Books
have been written about how religion can help families cut back the juvenile delinquency within
families, Forbes reported.

Religious schools do better than public or charter schools.

Though teaching religious classes doesnt exactly make a school a religious one, its still important to
note that religious schools tend to do better than public or charter schools. A 2013 study published in
the Peabody Journal of Education found that religious schools do better for a number of reasons, like
pushing their students to take more rigorous classes and that the general environment and positive
morale encourage better learning.

It helps kids develop psychologically.

One expert said learning about religion is extremely important from a psychological standpoint for
young kids. Dr. Erika J. Chopich wrote that kids need to believe in something greater to fully push
themselves to excel.

It would help Americans read more.

Polls have shown that Americans arent really reading. In fact, 28 percent of Americans said they read
a book in 2013, according to The Huffington Post. But religious classes require an extensive amount
of reading. Scriptures, biblical text and other forms of spiritual reading are constantly seen in those
classes, and it may push Americans to do a little more reading.

It helps students learn a bit more about themselves.

A 2013 study by the IOSR Journal of Humanities and Social Science found that religious classes have
a significant amount of benefits, including that they help kids learn more internally about themselves
and how they feel about God and religion. This helps them move past those questions and identity
crises, the study found, to focus on other issues.

Religious majors are more likely to be employed.

A business degree may sound like a good idea, but a religious studies major might be even better. A
recent survey found that there are less unemployed religious studies majors (2.5 percent) than there
are business majors (7.5 percent).

It can help further your education.

In college, majoring in religious studies can push you to get even more degrees, according to
Louisiana State University. Many religious studies majors will go on to doctorate programs. Others
will use the skills gained in religious classes like critical thinking and analyzing texts as a foot
in the door to other areas of learning.

It can help American businesses.

American companies are experiencing a new trend. The happier employees are, the better the business
does, The Atlantic reported. And, as The Washington Post reported earlier this year, religious belief
and understanding makes people happier.

It can knock down depression.

Its no secret that teenagers often struggle with depression and sometimes its not even noticeable.
But religion can knock that down, sociology expert Rodney Stark noted in his book Americas
Blessings. In an interview with Deseret News, Stark said that religion and those with strong
conservative and religious beliefs are less likely to be depressed.
In today's competitive world, many families find it necessary for both parents to go out to work.
While some say the children in these families benefit from the additional income, others feel
they lack support because of their parents' absence. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

a)
Nowadays, it is very common that both parents in a family go to work. This trend is not restricted in
families with difficult economic situations but also in wealthier ones. Some people believe that their
children will have more benefits as both parents work, while others claim that this has negative effects
on children. My opinion is that both parents working are an inevitable trend, it has its own advantages
as well as disadvantages and that parents must find a means to keep balance between it pros and cons

It is undoubted that both parents working bring with it a lot of benefits not only to their children but
also the whole family in general. First, with extra salary from both parents, children can be sent to a
better school which requires more school fee, they can be given a better health care service from more
expensive but better hospitals, in case they need closer supports with their studying their parents can
afford to hire tutors without any difficulties, etc. Secondly, when a mother works, it means that she is
helping to ease off her husband's financial burden and stress. A stable source of finance is always a
foundation of every family's happiness. One obvious example is that traveling for a whole family
annually, an excellent way of making families more close-knit, is only feasible if the financial source
of that family is strong and steady.

On the other hand, this trend, however, has significant drawbacks. To begin with, in a family where
both parents are too busy and concentrate too much on making money, their children are often lacked
of necessary supports and supervision. For example, without parent's supports it is very likely for
children to find their studying tedious and difficult. Overtime, it will make them demoralized, and
affect seriously to their education's performance. Without parent's supervision, children will also be
very likely to take on bad habits due to peer pressure such as game addicted, smoking, or even taking
drugs. Moreover, there is an alarming issue that less and less close conversation have been made
between children and the other family's members, many children feel lonely even in their own home.
A parent should be aware that, not only the children's materialistic live need to be taken care of, but
also their metal one.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that we cannot change the fact that both parents have to work
nowadays. However, parents must find a happy medium to keep balance between their work life and
the family life so that their children will be given benefits in both material and mental lives.
b)

In modern world, women are no longer supposed to stay at home and take after their children like they
used to do in the past. It is normal for both parents to have their own job nowadays. As a result, there
is a warm controversy among people about whether both parents go out for work or they should give
top priority to bring up their kids.

In my opinion, I think children from family where both parents work may have some certain
advantages. First, children are taught about self-awareness and responsibility in their young age,
which is really helpful in the future when they start their life without their mom and dad. For example,
a child whose parents give too much concern for might be homesick or even shock when they first
going far from home like studying in another cities or overseas; meanwhile, an independent kid will
have no difficulty in managing their life when they have to live on their own. Second, children can
also benefit from extra income if both parents has an occupation.

However, Every coin has its two sides. Parents regular absence from home can also cause
consequences. Sometimes children have problems with their homework and they need their parents
help, also children may be with bad friends and commit a crime. Moreover, there are various jobs
which require going out a lot for appointments and events that parents cannot pay fully attention to
their kids in many aspects such as education, health care or entertainment.

To sum up, I believe that both parents should go out to work. They must know how to keep a balance
between work and family so that they will not only be a great worker with valuable contribution to the
society but also be a good father and mother for their kids.
Social networking has caused a lot of problems. How far do you agree?

Social networking, which is also known as social media, is the use of internet-based applications to
make connections with people such as our family and friends. It is now becoming an important part of
our lives. In order to keep pace with the advancement of technology, almost all of us have learnt how
to use social networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. Despite its
popularity, is it true that social networking has caused us a lot of problems? In my opinion, social
networking has its advantages and disadvantages. It actually depends on how we use it.

I believe that social media benefits us because it brings people closer even though they are from
different parts of the world. By using social networking, a person can communicate with his family
and friends wherever they are. Furthermore, social networking sites are basically free of charge. It is
extremely user friendly and can be used wherever there is internet access. By comparison, it is more
economical than making telephone calls. We are able to share our life stories and special moments
through social networking. For instance, we can see photos of beautiful scenery and cultural activities
posted by users from different countries. We can also interact with them through the use of chat
rooms and also by posting comments and messages.

Another benefit of social networking is that like-minded people all over the world are able to discuss
important topics and share their points of view. This can widen a persons personal knowledge as he
can discover different things that he never knew. For example, young people around the world are
now more involved in their countries politics. They also have a more caring attitude towards other
important issues both at home and abroad.

Just as everything has its pros and cons, social networking is no exception. One of the problems it has
caused us is that it allows us to hide behind the screens. That limits face to face interaction among
people. Some of us might think that it is good enough to be sociable simply through the use of social
networking. This could result in the lack of communication and interpersonal skills when we come
face to face with people. In addition, we tend to neglect the importance of building a good relationship
with friends that we make through social media. For instance, users can have thousands of friends in
their Facebook friends lists, but how many of them do they see on a semi-regular basis?

Moreover, social networking has taken too much out of our lives. A lot people are busy with
Facebooking or Tweeting instead of interacting with their friends and family when meeting up.
When their elders are talking to them, they are busy with their social networking sites and tend to
ignore their elders. Such insolence is prevalent especially among todays younger generation. Apart
from that, another serious problem which social media has caused us is distraction. For example,
while studying, students may decide to catch up with Youtube videos or update their Twitter accounts.
This causes concentration problems and consequently has a negative effect on the students academic
performance. The similar situation is also not uncommon among workers who are on duty. This can
result in their superiors distrust of them.

In conclusion, I agree to a certain extent that social networking has caused a lot of problems. If it is
misused or used in an improper manner, problems can arise. On the other hand, it can be a useful tool
to people from all walks of life if it is used in an appropriate manner.
Essay: Negative Impacts of Social Networking

Social networking is a popular form of communicating with friends around the corner and around the
world. It has become one of the top forms of communication even above the phone. With the benefit
of global communication, however, come risks and negative impacts.

Few today remember the old party lines, but social networking is much like these party lines.
Networkers must be careful what they say because the world is watching. While networkers have the
ability to IM and chat one on one, much of what is said on social networks is viewable by the public.
Like the old party lines, there is no privacy when everyone can see what is said.

Another privacy issue is hacking. Because social networks do not offer security measures for their
users, many of the computers used by networkers are vulnerable to hackers. Every bit of information
on a networkers computer becomes available to those skilled in this science, often without the
knowledge of the networker.

Along with the ability to hack is the ability to plant viruses. Many viruses today are passed through
social networks, often undetected. Networks are a playing field for computer viruses.

Social networks are largely uncensored. While this may not seem to be an issue, some of the photos
and language used by some networkers is inappropriate for children, yet it is viewable by the public.
Because children of any age may network, everything available to adults is also available to children,
and some things simply should not be seen by children.

Along with privacy and censorship comes the issue of cyber predators. Social networks do not screen
their users and have no real way of knowing what kinds of people are using the network. Social
networks offer a hunting ground of sorts to cyber predators seeking out unsuspecting networkers.
Cyber bullies are also able to use social networks as an easy way to blast their prey. Until social
networks find a way to screen its users and disallow predators and bullies, this will continue to be a
problem with networking.

One of the greatest impacts of social networking is on the social skills of networkers. Older
generations of networkers learned how to communicate and interact long before networking was even
a thought, but much of the younger generations do not interact socially except at school and work,
where social interaction is well monitored and minimal. Social networking has created a serious
breach in the ability of young people to communicate and interact with each other. Children no longer
play together; they network. Adults no longer seek physical companionship; instead, they choose to
network and have little or no physical contact.

Employers find that many young people do not have the necessary verbal and social skills to obtain a
job. Often, those lacking the verbal skills to land a job spend much time networking and texting on
cell phones. Not only has social networking impacted the amount of time people spend in physical
contact with each other, but it has also caused deterioration in the ability of young people to
effectively communicate with potential employers for entry level positions.

Social networking can impact health. The less a person moves the more weight that person is likely to
gain, and few calories are being burned while sitting in front of a computer. Computer monitors have
been proven to cause eye strain, leading to poor eyesight. Little movement has been proven to lead to
muscle weakness, less muscle development and, in some cases, bone loss. Back, neck, and joint pain
have been associated with too much computer use. Social networkers often spend hours networking,
leading to weight and health issues.

Like all things, social networking can be beneficial in moderation. Unfortunately, moderation and
networking do not coincide in todays society. Social networking allows for unnecessary risks in
privacy, safety, social skills, and health. Networking, at best, offers such ease of communication that
social skills deteriorate, and at worst, is dangerous for children and networkers unaware of the
predators lurking in the network.

The Role of Social Media in Education

The role of social media in education cannot be ignored. This is because social media today plays a
key role in developing the quality of education and increasing the enrollment across the world. First
and foremost, social media act as a motivating tool which fosters students active participation in
education. For this reason, teachers should design their schemes of work and schedules in ways that
include time for interaction of students through the social media. Social media also helps students to
collaborate and contribute towards searching for solutions to global issues. It profoundly influences
the education quality of every nation whose students actively participate in social media interactions
(Junco, 2012). These students develop the ability to think globally, and this is exceptionally beneficial
to their individual career profiles. In fact, some extraordinarily creative students are sometimes lucky
to sell their ideas and projects to potential private companies that need dynamic modes of operation
all the time. A superb example may be the existence of technical students whose creative ideas on
issues such as mobile phone applications are bought by mobile phone industries. For example, Nokia
has previously bought ideas and innovations from university students.

Social media also serves to expose students to various tools that contribute towards the rapid growth
of the educational process. The students should be taught the strength and weakness of such
educational tools and have the chance to use them at any time they feel like doing so. With social
media, the students can also perform group discussions in the form of chats. Such tools are extremely
relevant to the development of education. Social media are also instrumental in developing the
teaching techniques used by teachers. With social media development, it has been possible for
teachers to have online classes that are broadcasted via social networks such as Skype (Carlson, 2005).
Teachers may also consider recording their lectures in forms of videos and upload them in social
media sites such as Facebook or Youtube for Live streaming. This innovative idea makes the work of
the teacher exceptionally easy, especially because he/she does not have to show up for revision of
covered topics. The students only need to download the tutorials from social media and use them for
revision. In case they need clarification, they can replay the videos for as long as they wish. Social
media is extremely fundamental in the field of education.

Social media provides students with a limitless avenue for students to interact with their peers across
the world. This enhances some sense of balancing of the psychological perspectives of all students
across the world. Those who take education seriously challenge their peers who are joking with issues
concerning the issue of education. This distinction exists due to the primary difference in the
environment they live (Anderson, 2009). In addition, since learning is a social activit,y the
understanding of this fact is proven as a basic truth by social media in its quest to develop education.
The same way social media tools are used by some countries to collect opinion polls during the
election of presidents, it should also be used to collect opinions concerning various schools of
thoughts in areas such as education, criminology, ethics, sociology, psychology among other field of
study.

Pros and Cons of Social Media in Education

The roles social media plays in education are not debatable. It is evident that education depends on
social media. However, this also comes with quite a number of limitations. In this sense, social media
in education needs to be regulated within its parameters to avoid the irresponsible use of this vital
resource. Social media is functionally necessary in the field of education considering that it enhances
the interactions of teachers in so many and different ways (Lepi, 2012). Websites such as Twitter,
LinkedIn and Facebook act as arenas of interactions where learners from different parts of the world
exchange scholarly ideas and find answers to educational related questions. Despite these benefits,
social media applicability in education has suffered a lot of criticism. The critics present the other side
of social media, and it is necessary to consider both sides of the matter in order to get a solid evidence.

Social media acts as an educational tool in the sense that educators can use this tool to enrich the
students with knowledge and pass learning experiences. The instructors foster collaboration and
discussion, exchange of new ideas, creation of a meaningful dialogue and boost students interactions.
Another advantage of social media in education is its unique ability to enhance students engagement
(Junco, 2012). Social media acts as a way to develop the students communication skills. For example,
students who rarely raise hands in class may be more comfortable to express themselves to their
Facebook friends. Social media also improves the communication between students and teachers.
Educators freely answer the questions of students via Facebook or Twitter. Teachers also send post
homework assignments and lesson plans conveniently using social media. During their part time,
instructors tweet about issues of contention discussed during class (Osfield, 2009).

Social media has disadvantages for students too. When students are connected, they successfully
search for information on Google, Facebook and other web services, although the use of the Internet
simultaneously seizes and fragments the attention of students. Consequently, there is a likelihood of
students missing some crucial information from their tutors due to the divided attention. Another
seemingly fatal disadvantage that comes along with the use of social media in education is the
subversion of higher order reasoning process (Barnes, 2007). The focus, concentration and persistence
of individual students is altered to the extent that the students ability to think critically is at stake
since they are used to getting all the information they need from the Internet. With persistent use of
the Internet, the results are less tenacity, less patience, poor critical thinking skills and impulsivity.
This is usually a result of overdependence in the use of social network to do everything in academic
work.

Prolonged uses of the Internet usually expose students to repetitive, interactive and addictive stimuli.
This stimulus has been proven to cause permanent changes in the brain structure, which damage the
learning skills of students (Mills, 2011). Although it is true that the longer one uses the Internet, the
more the students develop the skills of skimming and scanning, it is also a proven fact that this
degrades the concentration spans of individual students.

Conclusion

From the foregoing, it is so clear that social media in education is essential. Students should also
increase their interest and the will to know more about social media since it is a field that is highly
dynamic. It changes severely with the changing needs of the public. In addition, the use of social
media in schools should not be banned with an excuse of moral disruption and time wastage. The best
ways to react to social media is only embracing it positively and engage the same in the students
learning strategies. Students will not be bound by the walls of the classroom; instead they will use the
Internet productively in order to interact with other students in group discussions. Furthermore,
educational administrators should understand the pivotal role played by social media in education.
They should consider the pros and cons as presented in this research with the purpose of changing
their irrational thinking patterns, which promote the fact that students always abuse the Internet.

Essay writing on the importance of Social media in Education!

Social media has been influencing our lives for quite some time now and the trend of using it is ever
increasing day by day. It is used by people as a platform to interact among each other, share personal
photos, videos, views and reviews on different topics of daily life, politics, sports, markets and much
more through the internet with the use of devices like computers, tablets, and cell phones etc.

The use of social media is on boom nowadays. Whether it is socializing and networking websites such
as Facebook, blogs and informative websites such as Twitter, Tumblr, video sharing websites, e.g.
YouTube and Daily-motion and other kind of platforms, they have made life easier by quick sharing
of almost everything that a person wants to know about. There is no doubt about the dependability of
humans on these sources of socializing that is why every business is using them to maximize their
productivity and profits.

Education is no exception in using social media. We know that education has been dependant largely
on the print and electronic media for quite some time, but those media are expensive due to lesser
availability, on the other hand, social media is inexpensive and easily available. Now most of the
instructors and professors use YouTube to show students different kinds of videos related to their
subjects and hence their productivity has gone miles ahead of what it used to be before. As students
use Facebook nowadays, so teachers have come up with this idea of making a common page for all
the students to share the updates regarding any changes in class schedule, dates due for assignment
submission and quizzes, etc. It helps students to keep in touch with their teachers and ask about the
difficulties in the courses while sitting at home. This does not stop there, it also promotes team work:
when students are due to submit any kind of group project, they can communicate with each other
better and share their files and comments on the same page.

Now students dont need to carry heavy books: they can browse collaborative media sources like
Wikipedia anytime, and get to know about it. It serves as a dictionary not only for students, but also
for the instructors. The most important aspect of these social media is that they promote open
discussion about things. When students and teachers communicate on these channels, they come in a
dialogue which gives rise to purposeful conclusion, e.g. when a teacher from Asia comes into contact
with another teacher from Europe, both can exchange their views about the education system, and
they can know about helpful teaching methods they never practiced before. Students can give online
presentations; submit assignments to a common page, receive feedback from teachers while being
sick at home etc.
University education should be free. Do you agree or disagree? Why? Use examples and reasons
to develop your argument.

a)Education is the most important aspect in our life. It determines our future and our level of success.
The most famous learning association is the university. Some people believe that university education
should be free, other disagree. In my view I believe that university education should be free and
supported by governments for many reasons.

To begin with, when universities are offered for free, that will increase the equality of opportunities. If
students should pay for the university education, that may be dissuade them. In theory, students may
take out loans or work part-time to afford studying. But that will be enough to discourage them, and
let them instead inter the job market earlier in the time that they are not ready yet. For example, one of
my friends intended to be a lawyer. Since her family was from the middle class she couldnt afford the
university tuition. Therefore, she postponed her dream and took a part-time job as a babysitter, so she
couldnt be in the place she likes and she works in a place she in not prepared to. If the university
education was offered for free, she would be one of the most talented lawyers in the country. And the
country would be benefited from her more.

Furthermore, a free higher education will increase the specialization of work. In this sophisticated
world a high standard of work is a must. Getting the average in work is no longer acceptable.in a
matter of fact, free education will ensure that the workforce is at the required level of skills.
Researches have shown that countries who offer free higher education have the great rate of
innovations and develop faster. So when governments support universities financially. They will take
their money back through development and the high life standard. For example, in the United States,
some grants and scholarships are offered for qualified students. And this is a great step. By means of
these grants many students car earn degrees even though they cant afford a university tuition. And
they will work and research after their graduation, as you can see, the government will benefit from
them back. So these grants will not burden the government. Instead, it will bring a positive impact.
And will put the right person in the right place.

To sum up, university should be free for qualified students. And that will ensure the equality of
opportunity. And will raise that work standard. We should all support this trend and encourage people
around us to pursue their dreams and keep demanding their rights every time.

b. Everyone believes that education should be an integral part of someones life. Todays
development is a sciences debt. So, in order to promote standards of living or increase our knowledge
of the world around of us, it is necessary that the governments offer free education to everyone.

There are a number of reasons why education should be free to everyone. One of these reasons is that
if everyone has access to free education, they can significantly improve their standards of living. We
know that those who get into university they learn new skills. These skills in turn provide them
conditions to find their favorite jobs, with more salary. Also, either community includes two class of
people, namely the poor and wealthy people. Since working class of each community does not have
ability of financial to send their children to the university, so condition of their living are not
acceptable. This make that the statistic of crime and violence unexpectedly soar. One of my close
friend, for example, could not enter to the university because of high tuition; however, he was clever
and innovative boy and when we got together during high school, he talked about his schemes. If
education was free, he would be able to reach his goals. As a result, he would be able to create some
jobs with the help of his ideas.

Regardless of developing standards of living. Free education help us increase our knowledge about
our planet. Without free education majority of young adults do not recognize how to preserve their
planet. For example, we know that overconsumption of unrenewable source of energy bring the
critical problems to our planet. The protection of it needs more knowledge which only comes from
university. So, the need to free education for public is necessary. About a decade ago, for example,
my compatriots use more antibiotic medicines, but since the government has facilitated education to
public, people were informed of side effects of taking these drugs. Therefore, education should be free.

Finally, I completely agree with free education, because it give us more motivation to improve our life
in addition to offering an extensive awareness of our surrounding environment.

Modern technology has made the life more convenient. However, the life was better when there
was less technological advancement. Do you agree? Give reasons for your stand.

It is true that modern technology has made life more convenient be it long distance communication
through mobile phones and emails or be it any other electronic gadget we use in our day to day life.

However, whether life was better when there was less technological advancement is debatable. But it
is true that the side effects technological revolution brings with it may sometimes make us feel the
same.

Today, it is even hard to imagine what the life would be without television, computers, internet, cell
phones, video games etc. But it is a fact that society is going a little out of hand in terms of technology.
Playing a game on PS3 rather than with the hard structures and blocks has reduced the imagination
power of children. Imagination has been replaced with graphics and fallacies.

Television and computer have become the sole sources of entertainment these days. People have
forgotten that playing badminton with a real racket rather than on a computer screen is also an
attainable task and much more helpful. On line shopping has taken away the fun of real shopping
from ones life. As a result, life style has become so sedentary, with the ease of everything online that
health problems have increased. Child obesity is spreading like an epidemic all over the world due to
over addiction of children to technology.

Ones social like has also gone for a toss. You may have five hundred friends in your Facebook list
but it is hard to remember the birthday of your one real best friend of childhood.

If used in a balanced way, it cannot be denied that technology has become an integral part of our
modern day living. It allows people to keep in touch with their distant family members through
phones, emails and now webcams. Distance education, online education has been made possible.
People including children are more aware of happenings around them.
Hence, it can be concluded that technology has infinite benefits. The problem arises when it becomes
an addiction and starts monitoring our lives. Excess of everything is bad and so is the use of
technology.

The development of science and technology benefit our life. However, scientists cannot find
effective solutions to the problems they created. To what degree do you agree or disagree with
this opinion?

The development of science and technology makes our life more comfortable and convenient.
However, scientists have created many problems, which are not easy to be resolved, such as air
pollution, the deterioration of environment and the scarcity of natural resources, to which we must
make some solutions.

Modern science and technology render people many advantages. Modern telecommunication shortens
the distance between people and makes communication much easier. Internet is widely used now not
only for collection of abundant information but also for correspondence. Email, the most effective
method of communication now, is becoming very popular. Besides, telephone and mobile phone
make contact more convenient than before.

Modern transportation, such as airplanes and high-speed trains make our journey smooth and fast.
With the help of modern transportation, people can go everywhere they prefer to. The journey to outer
space and other planets is not a dream any more. Rockets and space shuttles can help us realize the
dream of space travel.

Modern medicine prolongs peoples life and relieves patients of sufferings from many diseases.
Cancer and AIDS are fatal to peoples health. Thanks to the endeavours scientists have made, these
diseases become treatable.

However, the process of scientific development also arouses many severe problems to our human
beings. Internet, though widely used in modern communication, is easy to be destroyed by computer
virus. Outer space exploration has produced much waste in the space. A tiny metal, a screw, for
example can destroy a flying man-made satellite. Industrialization is making natural resources become
scarce.

Confronted with these problems, scientists are seeking prompt and feasible solutions. The
development of science and technology bring about both positive and negative effects to us

Essay on the importance of volunteering

Volunteering is important for numerous reasons that benefit both the community and the volunteer
themselves. When someone donates a handful of time, the difference made is tremendous and it
shapes a community for the better while the experience improves the person who donated the time.

Volunteering is what makes a community because it brings people together to work on a goal.
Whether it is a fundraiser for the research to cure a disease that affects the whole world, or to help a
local family who has fallen in a time of calamity, volunteers make it happen. Community life is
improved by aiding others and lending a helping hand to get a job done more effectively. More people
working equals less work for each person and less time for the project. So when it comes to getting
the job done, like a community clean up, the more the merrier.

When a person donates their time, they give hope to someone who needs it. If a local family's house
burnt down and a group of people hosted a benefit for them, that family's faith would be revived when
they realized that people care. Although that family lost their house and their belongings, seeing how
their own community wants to help would bring joy and show them that money isn't everything.

A volunteer also benefits themselves because they get to see how their contribution has made a
difference. This experience contributes to personal development especially in areas such as self-
fulfillment, self-confidence, and self-esteem which often flourish in the midst of volunteering
experiences. The selfless act of volunteering provides a spiritual enhancement as well. Knowing that
you made a positive impact on someone is an emotionally uplifting experience that can never be
matched by money or fame.

Donating time now will also aid in the future. Volunteering strengthens present skills and also shows
an employer that an effort has been made to make an improvement. Such skills include
communication skills, ability to work with others, ability to take direction and lead others, dedication
and time management. Employers realize that as a volunteer you must be able to prioritize your
schedule in order to devote time for activities that benefit others. When employers see active
volunteer work on a resume, they are much more likely to hire said person rather than someone who
doesn't volunteer. Employers are aware that most people who offer their time are conscientious,
honest and hard working individuals.

These are just a few reasons why volunteering is important. Not only does it bring hope and happiness
to people, but it also leads to spiritual and personal growth. It is an experience that cannot be bought
with any amount of money.

6 Reasons Why Volunteering Is Important

1. Gaining New Experiences and Insights

Volunteering allows students to get involved with new things and develop technical, social, and
academic skills that couldnt be learned in a classroom environment. Whether youre helping out at
your local library or tutoring underprivileged kids, volunteering allows you to experience different
environments and situations.

I know that a lot of us, as competitive, college-obsessed, sleep-deprived students, get lost in the
quantity of volunteer work, but its crucial to take a step back from the number games. Instead of
boasting about how many hours youve piled up, why not talk about the things youve done?
Volunteering brings out new interests, hobbies, and opinions; moreover, volunteering expands
students horizons. As Ashley, a rising senior, who volunteers with numerous organizations and clubs,
puts it, If your volunteering experiences can give you something to write or think about for your
college essays, then I say its done something good for you as a person, and itll help you overall in
your college admissions processit should mean something to you!

2. Giving Back and Helping Others

Admit it: youre pretty lucky. Youre working your way through your high school education with
intentions to move on to post-secondary education. You assumedly have a roof over your head, food
to eat, and clothes to wear. Even if you dont have the best of those, youve got them. Volunteers
create better environments for others; they create healthier communities, and they brighten lives. Jill,
another rising senior, has been playing the piano for more than a decade and the flute for seven. She
volunteers by performing in concerts for senior citizens. We always talk with them after our concerts,
and their stories are very humbling. They make me realize that Im actually very lucky to know how
to read and play music. They always tell us how great we sound and how they wish that they spent the
time in their youth to learn an instrument. As a volunteer, shes been able to give back to the
community that fostered her musical talents.

3. Creating Connections with People

No matter the age, building relationships with people is crucial. Not only does the volunteer work you
do as a student show who you are as a person, but it reflects many positive character traits that
potential employers and admissions officers want to see. Volunteering allows you to meet a wide
variety of people from all sorts of walks of life.

Networking is an amazing benefit of volunteering, and students learn professional skills and have
access to a breadth of knowledge from their co-volunteers. Jasmine, a fellow rising senior, volunteers
at her local free clinic, where shes the assistant administrative coordinator. Some of the doctors and
volunteers there have become my mentors, letting me shadow them or giving me general life advice
about interacting with people and education. Interacting with new types of people, though extremely
difficult, has developed my people skills. Through her volunteer work, shes not only become an
integral part of the clinic itself, but shes gained a lot of valuable insights, skills, and experiences.

4. A Sense of Accomplishment

Volunteering isnt one of the most plush, easy, or glamorous of jobs, but it is one of the most
beneficial and uplifting. While no monetary compensation is received, many will tell you that their
work and experiences gained as a volunteer were worth way more than any money they could have
gotten from another line of work.

Think of it like this: volunteering is done on a persons own accord. Its taking some time out of your
day and helping others. Volunteer work makes us feel good. It builds self-confidence and lifts up the
spirits. As Jill puts it, students these days are getting caught up in the number of hours they store up
doing something that they dont care about, and not only is the meaning behind the actions lost, but
the charity becomes a chore. So yes, do it, but do what you want to do and because you want to do it.
That couldnt be truer. Its crucial to have a strong connection to your volunteer work. Basically, you
get out of it what you put into it.

5. Building Career Options

Charity work gives students opportunities to test out a desired career path. Concurrently, it gives them
an edge on their resume. Getting involved with an organization that shares similar ideals and interests
is an important step for students. At a young and pretty inexperienced age, volunteering is an
excellent gateway to the workforce.

By gaining new experiences and creating new connections, volunteers are able to better visualize
themselves in that field and explore the daunting question: can I see myself doing this for life? And,
even if the organization you do get involved with has nothing to do with your intended career path, it
might end up surprising you. While I wasnt such a fan of my early high school summers of
volunteering, I was still able to make the most out of my situation by learning how to problem solve,
work more efficiently, and deal with unwanted environments. Even though I know that I dont want to
follow a similar career path, I strengthened a lot of skills necessary for my own future career. So, take
a chance by getting outside of the beloved comfort zone through volunteer work.

6. The Dreaded College Admissions Process

As if I would end this article without going back to this hot mess. Unfortunately for us, we live in a
pretty competitive world. College admissions has become much more than GPAs, test scores, and
letters of recommendations. You, as a highly motivated and worried college-bound student, already
know that. Volunteering, while it wont raise your GPA or add 20 points to your SAT score, will give
you a plethora of other things, like experiences, connections, and most importantly, a voice.

So, get out there and get involved. Stop stressing about the number of hours, and start having fun. Yes,
volunteering can be fun. Dont worry; I was surprised too. Remember: volunteer work is meant to be
more than what most make it out to be. Your high school years are stressful. Dont let something as
constructive and vital slip through the cracks!
Cooking as a compulsory subject at school?

It is often argued that both female and male students should be taught at school how to cook, whereas
other insist that it would unnecessarily take school time from more important subjects. It is agreed that
studying science subjects, such as maths and chemistry, are more beneficial for students. This essay
will discuss both views using obesity as an example, followed a reasoned conclusion.

Childhood obesity is one of the greatest problems of our time in western countries. It is often claimed
that teenagers gain weight because they lack skills to cook, and therefore they should be taught at
school how to prepare their meals. Not only would they learn useful cooking skills, they also would
adapt to healthier eating habits. Teachers often argue that teenagers eat convenience food for lunch
because they do not actually know the danger of sugar, fat and salt. According to a survey conducted
at the Martinlaakso secondary school, scholars ate junk food approximately twice a week. Therefore,
it is urgent to raise the awareness of healthy diets at schools.

Although cooking is an important skill in our lives, it is also stated that pupils should not spend their
school days in a kitchen. It is more beneficial for them to focus on science subjects, such as maths and
physic. These subjects prepare young learners for their further studies and strengthen their problem
solving skills. Inevitably, these are valuable abilities when a student seeks a job, in contrast to cooking
skills. If cooking were a compulsory subject at secondary school, the number of math courses should
be reduced. Recent Pisa results showed that the level of pupils math skills have weakened across
Europe in recent years. Therefore, it is apparent that our education system needs to teach worthy
subjects in first case.

In conclusion, I would argue that although cooking skills are important, students should concentrate
on science subjects at school. Parents should take responsibility for teaching their children cooking
skills and healthy eating habits instead.

Reasons Why Cooking Should Be Compulsory in Schools

1. Essential Life skill

The art of basic cookery is an essential life skill that too few teenage students are capable of doing.
Many students resort to expensive ready meals that offer little nutritional value and a heap load of
calories, fats, salts and sugars. According to one study, students lack confidence and knowledge in the
kitchen and this has resulted in them showing little desire or interest in cooking their own meals.

By making Food technology compulsory, students will have the relevant guidance and motivation to
plan, prepare and produce their own meals and with basic kitchen skills mastered, we can hopefully
assume that more and more teenagers will be active cooks within their own home kitchen.

2. Promotes a Healthy Lifestyle

There's no denying that take away such as McDonalds, Dominos and KFC are popular for students,
there is also no escaping the fact they serve some of the unhealthiest food available at significantly
low prices! Just one slice of Domino's Pepperoni Pizza contains 310 calories and 16 grams of fat with
just 8 slices totalling to 2,480 calories and 128 grams of fat!

Food Technology in particular Home Economics enables students to understand the nutritional
breakdown of foods and which nutrients the body needs in order to function properly. After students
have understood minerals, vitamins and nutrients teachers can encourage them to create alternative
substitutes for ready meals and popular take outs!

3. Uncover a Talent or Potential Career Opportunity

With students exposed to cooking and baking, there is the increasing potential for students to discover
a hidden culinary talent as well as the idea of working within the catering and hospitality industry.
The introduction of students to the catering industry was noted in Jamie Oliver's five-part
documentary, Jamie's Kitchen, in which unemployed and outspoken youths were trained by the
celebrity chef. The outcome of this documentary led to many of the teens working in some of
London's best restaurants as well as one individual, Kerry Ann Dunlop, releasing a cookery book to
much success.
