2.03 Manual Load Control

In Manual operating mode, the load is automatically transferred to the Mains, independently of the
status of the Mains (the green KM LED energises). In order to transfer the load to the Generating-
Set, press the [ I ] pushbutton simultaneously with the [ENABLE] pushbutton. The KM contactor
opens, and then, after a 2 second delay, if all parameters of the Generator are met, the KG will
energise. The contactor can be opened at anytme by the [O] pushbutton and the load will be
transferred back to the Mains.

2.04 OFF Operating mode

To enter the OFF operating mode, push the [OFF] pushbutton for a few seconds. The BE2K will
enter low power consumption mode. The Load will be transferred to the Mains and the engine will be
stopped. Only the green KM LED will be illuminated.

3.0 'Auto' Operating Instruction

If the BE2K is already in MANUAL operating mode, follow the instructions of section 3.02. Otherwise,
proceed to section 3.01.

3.01 Manual operating mode Set Up

a)- push the [ENABLE] and [AUTO/MAN] pushbuttons simultaneously until the green LED MAN
illuminates. The green LED KM will be turned on to indicate that the Load has been transferred to the
Mains.

3.02 Auto operating mode Set Up

b)- push the [ENABLE] and [AUTO/MAN] pushbuttons simultaneously until the green LED AUTO
illuminates. (NOTE: if an external Key Switch is used, the BE2K enters directly into 'AUTO' operating mode)
If the Mains fails, the BE2K starts the engine after a programmable delay, and transfers the load to
the Generating-Set after the warm-up time. To open the contactor of the generator, select the 'MAN'
operating mode and push the [0] pushbutton. If the button is pushed in 'AUTO' operating mode, the
engine stops and the alarm 'EMERGENCY' energises. If the Mains restores, the load connects back
to the Mains. After a programmable delay, the engine will stop.

3.03 Remote Controls and Automatic Periodic Test (A.P.T.)

The GEN-SET TEST and ENGINE TEST functions are enabled in AUTO operating mode. The
ENGINE TEST starts the engine and does not transfer the load to the Generator.
The GEN-SET TEST starts the engine and transfers the load to the Generator. The display
indicates the corresponding message on the Data/h menu (see section 5.4.1). To activate the test,
use the test switch (if provided by your Panel manufacturer).
A Cooling down time is executed before stopping the engine. The Be2K allows automatic periodic test
(A.P.T) with real time clock control. The A.P.T. works only in AUTO operating mode. After an A.P.T.,
the Be2K updates the display in order to inform the user about the next A.P.T. cycle (see section 5.2
parameters [STATUS], [SCH.DATE] and [SCH.TIME])

3.04 Mains Simulation

If provided by your panel manufacturer, the Mains Simulation Switch operates as indicated in the
table. The status of the Mains simulation switch is displayed in the Mains menu with the messages
[EXT.ON] and [EXT.OFF].

Display Message MAINS STATUS MAINS SIMULATION SWITCH BE2K-MODE

3.05 Auto operating mode: Stop

The Generating-Set stops automatically if the Mains restores or if the remote control (if provided by
your panel manufacturer) returns to stand by. The user can stop the Generating-Set in 'MANUAL'
operating mode, by pushing the [STOP] pushbutton. The user may press the [STOP] or [0]
pushbutton in automatic operating mode but, in this case, the red 'EMERGENCY' LED alarm will
energise and the Load will be transferred to the Mains. The [OFF] pushbutton stops the engine and
turns the BE2K to OFF operating mode.

3.06 Auto operating mode description

The Automatic Sequences include the [FAILURE] (*), [BREAKER], [RESTORE], [WARM UP] and
[COOLING] timings. In case of Mains failure, the Mains Contactor opens after the [BREAKER] time-
out. The [FAILURE] timing takes place if the Mains Failure persists. After this time-out, the BE2K
starts the engine. The [WARM UP] timing allows the engine to warm up.
After the [WARM UP], if all electrical parameters are met, the Contactor of the generator will close. If
the Mains restores, the [RESTORE] timer starts to count, and the load will be transferred to the
Mains. The engine will stop after the [COOLING] time.
The Engine Starting Parameters are controlled by the [CR.DELAY], [IDLE], [PREGLOW], [CRANK],
[REST], [ATTEMPTS] and [CRANKOFF] parameters. The [PREGLOW] energises before the starting
attempts. Between the starting attempts ([REST]) the PreGlow Output will remain energised.
(*) The setting of the timings indicated above are listed in the section 5.2.

3.07 Auto and Manual selection

Press the AUTO-MAN and ENABLE CONTROL pushbuttons simultaneously: the AUTO and
MANUAL green LEDs will illuminate in accordance with the selected operating mode.

NOTE : the BE2K stores the AUTO operating mode in the memory. If the supply fails and then
restores, the BE2K enters the AUTO operating mode automatically.

4.0 Display Features and Lamp test

The BE2K has 4 displays: one Alphanumeric green Display and three 7-segment red LED Displays.
During the starting attempts, all displays are turned off. After 2 minutes without operating the
[<][>][v][^] pushbuttons, the Alphanumeric Display will reduce the luminosity. The light intensity
returns to normal when you press one of the [<][>][v][^] pushbuttons.
The Alphanumeric Display can show five menus: Warning-Mains-Power-Data/h and Engine
(see section 5.0). The red Displays indicate electrical measurements of the Generator according to
the selection done with the [MODE-SAVE] pushbutton. The yellow Mode LEDs indicate 4 menus:
Voltage-Current-Pf and Frequency.
The 'LAMP-TEST' is obtained by pushing [^] and [v] simultaneously.

5.0 Alphanumeric Display and menu facilities
