1. What makes a good role model and how would I ensure that I acted as a role model for
employees I supervise?

The way to make a good role model is:-

1. Understand yourself: - If I want to be a good model for everyone. I must know what I am. I
should identify my values and aspects of my personality that I would like to pass on. Identify
my negative aspects and actively work to resolve or improve them.
2. Know who looks up to me:- When I know who looks up to me and why, I can act on my good
qualities more often, reach out to others and establish strong relationships with those
around me.
3. Make positive choices for myself and for others: - When I make positive choices, I teach
positive values and ways of thinking to others.
4. Identify your bad habits and resolve them: - To know if something is a bad habit or not, ask
myself the following questions. For example, does it hurt other around me? Are the results
of my actions good or bad? What are the long term effects? Etc.
5. Apologize and admit mistakes: - Nobodys perfect. When I make a bad choice, let those who
are watching and learning from me know that I made a mistake and how I plan to correct it.
6. Demonstrate confidence in myself: - whatever I choose to do with my life, be proud of the
person Ive become and continue to become. It may have been a long and difficult but
commemorate the lessons I learned, the strength Ive amassed and the character Ive
developed.
In my opinion, If I can do all of these. I could be a good role model for employees I supervise.

2. What are the traits of an effective leader? Do I have these traits? How would I develop
these traits?
The traits of Effective leader are:-
- Emotional Stability: - A quality leader will be able to tolerate stress. They hold a positive
attitude and are overall well adjusted. They also know that attitudes are contagious, a
good one radiates, a poor one aggravates.

they welcome change. If you show passion for what you do. Your staffs are more likely to
inherit that zeal.

3. How would I ensure that my work goals and plan reflect the organisations goals and
plans?
I can make sure that our personal work goals, plans, and activities reflect to organisations
plans by examining the organisations strategic and operational plans. Our personal goals
should result in the achievement of the organisations goals.
Strategic plans will identify the resources it will need to achieve its long-term objectives,
including funding, staff, and time. It will also identify the skills requires of staff to reach
organisations goals.
Operational plans tend to be more detailed than strategic plans and outline exactly what
each work unit needs to achieve in any given year. When creating operational plans,
organisations also take into account larger and broader strategic plans.

4. How would I ensure that I meet my job responsibilities?

I ensure that I meet my job responsibilities. The managers have to set out our responsibilities
and referred to when setting work goals, creating work plans and carrying out activities.
The way to set goals is:
- Set goals that are specific. Every goal that I set should be clear in defining exactly what I
want to accomplish. When setting a goal, I should have a clear understanding of what I
want to see happen during a determined period.
- Make a measureable goal. Regardless of the goal I make for myself, there should be
some way to measure my success in achieving the goal.
- Set achievable goals. Set goals that my circumstances would allow me to achieve. Always
stretch and challenge myself but be realistic in my expectations.
- Set relevant goals. Make sure that the goals I set for myself relate to the department or
section in which I work.
- Make a time frame. Every goal I set should have an accompanying time line. Often, the
best motivation for completing a goal knows that there is a date at which it should be
completed. Having a date set to complete the goal can allow me to keep that date in
mind as I assess how much time I should spend on different aspects of the goals.

5. How would I measure and maintain my personal performance?

I use the following indicators of performance as well as assessment of those indicators.
- Quality: - The quality of work performed can be measured by several means. The
percentage of work output that must be redone or is rejected is one such indicator.
Timeliness: - How fast work is performed is another performance indicator that should
be used with caution.
- Quantity: - It can compare between me and another persons who do equally good
quality work, achieving our job performance requirements but have different levels of
output.
- Job Knowledge: - We can do equally well in terms of the quality of our work and the
quantity of work we complete. However, one may have done so in a manner that
required other people to help out to make up for poor knowledge or skill, while the
other required no such help.
- Initiative: - If two employees who do the same quality and quantity of work. One may be
a complete self starter who understands their role in the organisation and the tasks
which need to be done to achieve the daily and weekly results the organisation requires

to meet its goal. The organisation doesnt require to be told what to do. They just get on
with what they know they have to do.

6. How would I prioritise work?

The way I prioritise work is:-
- Use To do List:- This is the first step may seem pretty obvious. Listing everything down
on paper helps me to create more focus on what I need to accomplish over a particular
period.
- Whats Urgent: - Decide what tasks urgently need to be dealt with, and what can wait
until later.
- Consider My Responsibilities To Others: - If people are waiting on me to complete my
part before they can complete theirs then I need to move this task to the top of the list.
- What are The Repercussions: - Is the failure to do a particular task going to result in
being sacked from my job or alternatively could it create an opening to a much sought.

7. How would I use technology to organise and manage my work?

These days, it seems no one leaves home without their mobile. Its easy to use mobile as my
primary organization tool. For Example:
- Set Unique ringtones for each important person: - I can know whos calling without
looking at the phone. For each important person, such as clients, colleagues, etc. Set a
different ringtone.
- Use my address book: - Keep the contacts that I always use in the address book. This will
save my time. Because I wont have to look them up in the phone book.
- Use my calendar to keep track of appointments: - My mobile will send me a reminder
about the appointment at the time I choose. Set my reminders with enough time to get
to each appointment through.
- Use my alarm feature: - Set alarms on the mobile to every important activity.
- Keep a to do list on the notepad:- Take time to setup a to do list each night will help me
see just how much I can get done in a day and make it easier to get things done in the
long run.

8. How would I ensure that I maintained a work/ life balance?

I have tips to ensure I maintained a work/ life balance
- Enhance personal self as much as professional self.
- Be passionate and not greedy.
- Be relaxed and unnerved by daily issues. Think of life beyond task deadlines.
- Try achieving contentment at the end of the day.
- Define clear priorities for professional and personal success.
- Do the job which I love.
- Make sure others respect my priorities.
- Love my family.
- Never say I dont have time because I have time for things that matter.

9. How would I ensure that my personal knowledge and skills meet required competency
standards?
Even if the competencies for my job are not covered by a specific standard, my job and
person specifications should outline the requirements and the standard.
To identify my job competencies, a general assessment of the applicable attitudes, skills and
knowledge should be undertaken. Tasks or roles within the job descriptions should then be

BSBWOR501B Assessment tool 3 Project 1

broken down into elements, stages or steps which can further be aligned with quality,
efficiency or safety. However, part of the self-assessment I undertake to monitor my own
work and the performance evaluations I participate in, will be mapped against these specific
performance criteria and standards. A planned, focused approach will help me to realise my
potential. The best place to begin is by reviewing my current position and my current skills
and knowledge. Assess them against the identified competencies required to do my job and
against the competencies that will be required in the future.
Some organisations have very detailed job descriptions or person specifications, which can
go a long way towards helping I create my own set of competencies. To start with, I should
aim to assess myself at broad level, rather than trying to analyse the minute detail of every
task to do. I will need to identify the performance standards which apply to my work.

10. How would I determine my developmental needs?

- Determine what skills, knowledge and behaviours are required for me to do my job
well: - Its worth thinking about the skills, knowledge and behaviours that I may need to
develop in the future in my current job. I may know, for example, that my role will be
changing or that I will be working in different projects or that I am interested in a career
change. What new or different skills, knowledge and behaviours will I need? I should
make a list of current and future skills, knowledge and behaviours skills that I need in the
future.
- Look at the skills, knowledge and behaviours I actually have now: - Look at the list I have
produced. Now ask myself how effectively I match against each one. I could consider
talking this through with a friend or colleague, or with my manager.
- Compare actual with required to identify the gaps. These are my development
needs: - Try and be as specific as possible about what I need to do differently. This will
really help me when I am deciding how to best address my development needs. It will
also help me review and measure my success.

11. What is my personal learning style and how would I ensure that I took advantage of
learning opportunities?

My personal learning style is Visual learning style. I can learn best by seeing. I can focus on
learning strategies that involve seeing. Draw lots of diagram, arrows, and pictures in my
notes to help me see that is happening. Reading my notes, study sheets, and text repeatedly
will be important strategy.
When I study, I always focus on the learning objectives of the class. I understand and apply
these to my situation. In my opinion, Visual Learning is very simple learning. We can learn to
everything that we see. We can use Internet, Television, billboards and printed media to
learn. Its easy to remember.

12. How would I gather feedback from others about my personal performance and how would
I use this feedback to improve my competence?
Feedback is the process of gathering information to determine whether my performance is
meeting the expectations of others. Ask my internal and external customers and suppliers,
managers or managers from other departments, peers and colleagues and any of
organisations stakeholders to give informal feedback regarding my performance.

BSBWOR501B Assessment tool 3 Project 1

Observe the responses to my behaviour in the workplace. Determine whether I am receiving

positive or negative responses. If I am receiving mostly negative responses then consider
what you need to change. Ask for feedback but ensure that those giving feedback are not
threatened or likely to suffer any negative repercussions for telling me something I might not
wish to hear. If I ask for feedback and receive responses that are intended to help I change
my behaviour, follow through. If people go to the trouble of giving feedback which I ignore
they will probably never bother again and I will not improve my behaviours.

13. How would I use networks to increase my knowledge, gain new skills and develop
relationships?
Information, knowledge and ideas can be exchanged through formal communication
channels such as the websites of professional associations or through informal business
contacts. It might be exchanged at formal network meetings, seminars, conferences, training
programs or at social gathering.
A wide range of information, ideas and resources might be exchanged. Networking contacts
might be used by my organisation as referral contacts for my clients or customers. They
might provide personal, professional or business support.
It is necessary to establish communication channels that will enable me to exchange, with
networking partners and associates, appropriate information and ideas, and to provide, seek
and verify information.

14. How would I ensure that acquired new skills to maintain my competitive edge?
Nowadays, workplace is very competitive. I will need to have a variety of skills that will give
me the competitive edge to succeed. I must be able to:-
- Listen well: - Good listening skills make me more productive, help me get along better
with others and allow me to work better in a team based environment.
- Know how to use a computer: - No matter what my job is, its likely I will need to use a
computer. Its important to make sure my computer skills are up to date.
- Write effectively: - whether my job requires me to write short memos or lengthy reports,
I must be able to communicate well in writing.
- Deal with crises at work: - Being able to solve problems quickly and seamlessly can set
me apart from others.
- Manage my time: - Learning how to manage my time effectively will allow me to
complete projects on time.
