Foundation Lesson 16

What is the Gift of Governments / Administrations?

And God has appointed these in the church:.........administrations - 1 Corinthians 12:28

Over the next few lessons we will be looking at the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, so we have a better
understanding of them, how they work and how we can from them benefit as a body. By the end of
the lessons we want to be driven to pray to ask for the gifts because we are missing out on so much.
Some of the gifts may use the same Scriptures in acting them out but each gift has its own working.
Please study them again and again we want the Holy Spirit to pour out the fullness of the gifts so we
can serve the Lord better and each other and be a better testimony to the lost.

What is the Gift of Governments / Administrations?

The Bible word for governments or administrations is someone or a group of people that guide or
steer a group of people. The word also has the meaning of pilot as in someone guiding a lot of
people on a plane. The welfare of the church should be important, to get rid of the evil thats going
on and taking care of the good, the people with this gift have everyone elses welfare to heart so that
no harm comes to them.

The people who have this gift

This gift of governments is very important and must be a gift from God to use it. In 2 Samuel 23:3
tells that those who rule over men must do so in the fear of God because no man can rule over
others unless he ruled by God. Also they cant rule over others unless their own house is in order 1
Timothy 3:5 because how can one rule in God's house if their own house is a mess. In Romans
12:8 Paul tells us he who leads should do so with diligence which means to do so with great care, so
the person with this gift will with great care to be honest with what God wants to say to the people
and not twist or do things which look like God is angry with the people when He is not, which is
what Moses done in Numbers 20:1-13, it stopped Moses entering into the promise land.

Also the people with this gift will use it to serve others and take Jesus as there example in John
13:1-17, when He washed the disciples feet, they do not abuse this gift but serve Mark 10:42-45
shows that those who desire to be great will serve.

Governments in the Church body

There are all sorts of ways that the gift of governments can be used in the Church we must
remember that Jesus is the head and He rules all who have the gift of governments must be ruled by
Jesus first, the Pastors or elders is one they have got to have this gift to lead a church if they have
not got this gift the church will be in a mess or a free for all. Those who lead in music will need
this gift to keep order in worship and leading the people in prayer. A church treasurer will need this
gift to put the money where it is needed to go and that the books are in order because the are
handling God's money. People who lead the witnessing team need this gift, to lead others where to
go, to set up the time and dates to keep all in order when they are out so if any problems happen
they can deal with it. Even things like prayer meetings in someones home, coffee mornings,
cleaning a church, feeding the homeless the gift of governments is needed to sort all the times and
people out, and lead

Remember that this gift must be a gift from God because if it isn't and you use it wrong like a king
called Rehoboam in 1 Kings 12:1-14, he wouldn't take notice of wise counsel to rule the people but
Foundation Lesson 16

took other advice, the people rejected him. So those who have this gift must be ruled by The Lord
and take notice of His words or the people will reject them.

The Gift of Governments used in the Bible

We know from Isaiah 9:6 that Jesus the government will be upon Him, all other gifts of
governments should be built upon Him.

Moses had the gift of governments, he was a leader of the people, the people accepted him as their
leader and they could see he was ruled by God so much so they told Moses to go to God for them
and let Moses tell them what God said Deuteronomy 5:27. Likewise someone with the gift of
governments whatever area of service its in, will be a leader and be accepted by the people
remember a leader leads the people they dont drive them. Also Moses in Numbers 11:16-17 was
gifted by the Holy Spirt so was the 70 men who were also to rule to help him. Also when Moses
knew he was going to die he needed someone to rule after him, Joshua was with Moses for years
learning how to rule and serve the people, so he was ready to carry on the work when Moses was
gone Deuteronomy 34:9, someone with this gift will teach and raise up others also to carry on with
the work.

Joseph also had the gift of governments Genesis 41:38-41 and Genesis 42:6. Because God showed
Joseph of the famine that was coming to Egypt, Pharaoh see him as wise and put him in charge of
making sure that no one starves during the seven years of famine, God gave him the wisdom to lead
. Joseph was a man who was ruled by God and trusted him through everything, we see yet again
that the person with this gift will ruled by God.

Questions

1) Read Deuteronomy 5:27. Do you want the gift of governments? To have this gift you must first
be ruled by God. Does God rule in your life? The people accepted Moses to speak to God for them,
because he was ruled by God. Is it seen that God rules in your life? Do the people see that God rules
and that they are willing to let you lead them in the area of service that your in for Christ? If God's
not ruling in your life repent, see your Pastor and he will help, you can never rule others unless you
are ruled by Christ.

2) Read Hebrews 13:17. This verse tells us to obey and be submissive to those who rule over you.
Do you obey your Pastor? Do you submit to them? The verse also tells us that we should make their
job one of joy and not grief. Which on do we make their job, one of joy or grief? Because they are
the ones who look out for your souls and have to give an account for their job. If you are making
their jobs hard you must stop and repent for it is ungodly. If you don't submit to them this also is
wrong and you must repent. Go to them and talk with them, pray with them and make there job one
of joy.
