Theme: International Serial Book Number (ISBN) Access Catalog

You will act as a programmer for a book company that publishes foreign and local books. They are to develop
an ISBN (International Serial Book Number) card catalog application. The application must have global appeal
and exemplify international standards. The main form of the application is a login form. It should have a
password level for an administrator and a customer. The administrator should have the capability to update, add
and delete records, to create and delete user accounts, and to change passwords while the capability of
customers is limited to searching for books and viewing the database only.

Note: The ISBN is a ten digit number, the category may be romance, mystery, historical, religion etc.

2. Functionalities

Login Form

If an administrator logs in successfully, a menu form will appear.


If a user logs in successfully, a search form will appear.
If log in is not successful, a message box will appear that prompts Invalid Account.

Menu Form:

The menu form should contain two tabs, File and Exit.
When the File tab is clicked a sub menu for Manage, Summary, and Create Accounts will appear
When the Manage sub menu is clicked, a Manage Form will appear.
When the Summary sub menu is clicked, a Summary Form will appear.
When the Create Accounts is clicked, a Create Form will appear.
When the Exit tab is clicked, the application will be terminated.
Manage Form:

The Manage form should let the administrator navigate records in textboxes.
It should also allow the administrator to update, add and delete records.
It should contain a button that allows the administrator to go to the Menu Form.

Summary Form:

The Summary form should display the records in datagrid view.


It should contain a combo box that allows the administrator to sort records by; ISBN, Title, and
Author.
It should contain a button that allows the user to return to the Menu form.

Create Accounts Form:

The administrator should be allowed to change passwords.


The administrator should be allowed to create accounts and assign a status to each account.
It should contain a button that allows the user to return to the Menu form.

Search Form:

The user should be able to search the record by; ISBN and Title
The user should be able to view a summary of the records.
The user is not allowed to go to the Menu Form.

3. Enforce validation of inputs:

Textboxes should not accept empty values.


Numeric input only for numeric data.
ISBN and Username must not be duplicated.

Advanced Web Design using Dreamweaver/xHTML

Theme: CAL Global Website: Educating the World through the Use of CAL Products and Services.
Each contestant will produce a functional company website for CAL (Computer Assisted Learning) that will comprise all the products
and services of the company. Contestants should also consider how to promote the site globally in accordance with the correct
standards used worldwide.

General Specifications:

1. Use a valid HTML/HTML5 or xHTML document for content. Using web standards will ensure that all browsers will
display your web site properly, without time-consuming rewrites.
2. Use cascading style sheets (CSS/CSS3) for the layout and design of the website.
3. The website must consist of at least five (5) pages.
o Include the following major links (Contestants can layout the links in a way that will enable the site to be more
appealing and user friendly).
i. Home
ii. About Us
iii. Products & Services
iv. Contact Us
4. Contestants will be using only one Logo for the entire site.
5. Contestants can add an animated menu using JavaScript.
6. Adding a hover effect in the navigation menu is a plus point.
7. Make sure to link your pages correctly.

Additional Additional Technical Features:

1. Contestants can use any JavaScript code function that they are familiar with as long as it will give additional features on
the website.
2. Create a Guestbook so that visitors can directly write their comments on the website. Possible fields for the guestbook can
be:
o a. Guest E-mail address
o b. Full name
o c. Contact Number
o d. Message / Comment
3. Use JavaScript or any new technology client side program to validate each field in the form.
4. Show an alert message to check the successful submission of the Senders information after clicking the Submit button.
5. The website should be browser friendly. Make sure it is compatible with different browsers such as Mozilla Firefox,
Google Chrome and Internet Explorer.

Theme: Pinoy Techie Leading the World thru ICT

Filipinos are known worldwide to be very good in English communication and technology. We are far better
than India and Indonesia when it comes to BPO (Business Process Outsourcing).

Your job is to create a Bond Paper size poster flyer that will promote the Filipino techie as one of the leaders in
the world of ICT. The theme must be prominent throughout your work and should tell other countries how the
Philippines is leading the world thru ICT.

General Specifications:

1. All images will be provided to the contestants.


2. Final Image size: 8.5 inches by 11 inches (bond paper size).
3. You can use freehand drawing if you want.
4. Image resolution should be 72 pixels per inch.
5. You can add a catchphrase or slogan for your poster.
6. You are free to use as many Photoshop tricks and techniques as you can.
7. Additional plug-ins & other third party image editing vendor software are not allowed (brush, pencil,
patterns & fonts).
8. Pen tablets are not allowed.

AVP using Adobe Flash

Theme: Uniting the World through ICT


They say that technology makes the world smaller. Almost every person in the world today has embraced
technology. The advent of social networking brings people together by connecting to the Internet. Nowadays,
people are dependent on technology. In fact, some folks meet and talk only through the use of the PC.
Individuals with a common goal also become united through the use of Information and Communications
Technology.

Students will create an audio-visual presentation (AVP) using Adobe Flash to describe how the entire world is
connected through the use of Information and Communications Technology.

General Specifications:

1. Create an audiovisual presentation using Flash based on the theme Uniting the world through ICT.
2. The final output must be in .SWF format.

Additional Technical Features:

1. The length of the presentation must be at least 1 to 2 minutes.


2. Add the appropriate background music to the presentation.
3. Place a creative title at the start and add subtitles throughout the presentation.
4. Tastefully incorporate as many Flash techniques as possible such as shape tweening, motion tweening
and mask in animation.
5. Contestants will be provided with the images, video, and sound files they will require to complete their
presentation.
6. Students may use other graphic applications such as Paint or Photoshop to edit an image, but should
have ample time to finish their work in Flash.
7. Use of pen tablets and the like are prohibited.
