1 Installation HANDSET CONNECTION BOX

1 Installation
The CB4618 handset box may be used to interface additional handsets -
standard or heavy duty handset to the Control Unit.
Also it might be used for interfacing the scrambler CRY2001.
Please note that CB4618 is approved under the RTTE directive. If the handset
under any circumstances is not functioning you should immediately discon-
nect the standard handset from the CB4618 and connect it directly to the
Control Unit.

Optional connection (Restricted use only)

Pin Description
H5 EXT. Distress. Use this input to activate CRY clear voice function 8-30V 3-15mA.
H6 EXT. Distr. active low. Connect to GND to activate CRY clear voice.
H7 HOOK. Connect to GND to put HOOK on.
H8 GND
H9 External +8V. If extern +8V is applied, S11 must be removed (OFF) S12 must be ON.

2.2 Application note 2:


Connection of CRY2001
Modification of CRY2001 when used with CB4618
A: Disassemble CRY2001 as described in CRY2001 Manual
B: Remove the F&T Unit module (1)
C: Locate the coil L6 and the relay RE1.
D: Cut the wire on the PCB (component side) between RE1 and L6.
New wire to IC15 pin 9 on

E: Solder a wire from the conjunction of L6/C160 to IC15 pin 9 on the


Processor Unit module 2.
F: Solder a wire from the conjunction of L7/C161 to ground (across the
C161) so that P1 pin 8 is grounded.
G: Reassemble the CRY2001, connect all cables and perform a func-
tion check on all units.

After the modification, the CRY2001 will supply 5-7.5V out on P1 (STN1) pin
9, when STN2 is selected.

2.3 Application note 3:


Modification of VHF1000/RT4822 for CB4618
Modification for Dual handset / Heavy Duty Handset
If only dual handset / Heavy duty handset is wanted, its necessary to
- add +8V to X1_pin8 on the back of the VHF - See modification #1

Modification for CRY2001/2002


If interface to CRY2001 is wanted, then its necessary to
- add +8V to X1_pin8 on the VHF PCB - See modification #1
- add AUX_2 to X1_pin9 on the VHF PCB - See modification #2
- program VHF to activate distress decoding on CH16.

Modification of VHF 1000 / RT4822 - for autorized personel only


To disassemble the VHF:

Modification #1: Connect +8V to X1_pin8.


Add the shorting wire shown on the PCB 32253.

Modification #2: Connect AUX_2 to PCB 32507 X1_pin 9 (the little board).
AUX_2 is accessible in option connector X2_pin11 (CH_AUX_2) or internal
between R123 and C129.
Add the shorting wire shown on the PCB 32250.

Reassemble the front assembly, and connect the three ribboncables. Mount
the front assembly with the four screws. Reassemble Transceiver Unit.
