RE: KEY FINDINGS FROM A STATEWIDE SURVEY OF REPUBLICAN PRIMARY

VOTERS IN ALABAMA
________________________________________________________________________

The Tarrance Group is pleased to present the Kay Ivey for Governor Committee with the key
findings from a survey of Republican primary voter attitudes in Alabama. These key findings are
based on telephone interviews with N=601 likely Republican primary voters throughout the
state. Responses to this survey were gathered August 28-30, 2017 and the margin of error
associated with a sample of this type is + 4.1% in 95 out of 100 cases.

KEY FINDINGS

Governor Kay Ivey is the most popular political figure in the state of Alabama among
Republican primary voters, with eighty-four percent (84%) indicating that they have a
favorable impression of her. Her favorable rating among Alabama Republicans is +7 points
higher than the favorable ratings of President Trump and Attorney General Sessions.

Her popularity spreads across the entire state, with her favorable rating among Republicans
standing at better than eighty-three percent (80%) in the Birmingham, Huntsville, Mobile,
and Montgomery DMAs. She stands with a 93% favorable rating among very conservative
voters, and a favorable rating of 88% among strong pro-life and strong Second Amendment
voters.

Republican primary voters are equally as impressed with the job that Governor Ivey is doing
as Governor, with eighty percent (80%) of Republican primary voters indicating that they
approve of the job she is doing. There are only 5% of Republican primary voters that
indicate that they disapprove of the job she is doing.
In addition to strong overall job approval ratings, Governor Ivey also receives very strong
ratings across the entire range of specific issues that GOP primary voters are concerned with.
Fully sixty-eight percent (68%) indicate they believe that Ivey is doing a good job of
dealing with the scandals and corruption in Montgomery and representing your views on
the really important issues.

Sixty-six percent (66%) of Republican primary voters believe that Governor Ivey is doing a
good job of protecting conservative principles and strengthening the economy and
creating jobs. Approximately two-thirds of Republican primary voters, sixty-four percent
(64%), believe that Governor Ivey is a conservative fighter who is cleaning up Montgomery
and putting Alabama first.

Governor Ivey totally dominates a Republican primary trial ballot test for Governor. She
captures fully sixty-six percent (66%) of the vote on a primary ballot test, and leads her next
closest potential rival by +55 points. Tommy Battle is down at only eleven percent (11%) of
the vote on this trial ballot test, while Scott Dawson and Bill Hightower only receive 3% of
the vote apiece, and only 16% of Republican primary voters are undecided.

On this primary ballot test, Governor Ivey receives seventy percent (70%) of the vote among
strong Trump supporters, very conservative voters, strong pro-life voters, and strong Second
Amendment supporters.
