Contemporary Endodontics Hands-on

A three day course that provides an overview of

contemporary endodontic treatment.
Structure : Three full days. Each day will run
approximately 9:30am - 5pm.

Course Mentor:
DR. UPENDRA HOSHING

Raise your endodontic treatment to the highest level

Reasons to join this course:

This three-day program is a must for those practitioners who wish to take
their endodontic understanding and technique to the leading edge of
endodontics. This program is designed for the general practitioners who have
decided to incorporate endodontics into their treatment offering. This is a
skills acquisition training program.

Learn, explore, enjoy and take this course:

Time saving and advanced techniques in endodontic diagnosis and restorability

Make endodontics easier, and safer with improved access design
Learn the keys of reliable use of the apex locator and canal location
"New skill and new thinking" of rotary preparation technique
Learn how to make cleaning and shaping, simple, safe, and super efficient
Cleaning and shaping different irrigation techniques and devices
Know how and when to use multi-wave and/or single-wave vertical compaction
3-D obturation
What new technology to invest in and what to stay away from
appreciate the importance of both apical and coronal seals
Present the essential science and evidence base behind contemporary endodontic
treatment
Discuss how best to apply this knowledge in an everyday clinical setting
Demonstrate and coach practical skills to make endodontic treatment more efficient
and predictable
Rationale for post-endodontic restoration including posts
Hands-on composite core fillings and fibre-post placement
DAY 1 LECTURE SESSION

Lecture on following topics:

Diagnosis
Radiography in Endodontics emphasis on use of CBCT in endodontics
Effective use of Anesthetic Techniques for painless endodontic treatment
Root canal anatomy
Access Cavity preparation and design
Glide path preparation
Orifice shaping
Anatomy of root apex
Working length measurement with Apex Locators
treatment of the apical third
Cleaning & Shaping (Conventional to modern techniques)
Newer concepts like, File Pre Curving, Patency Filing, Apical Gauging, Apical
Tuning Anticurvature Filing, Watch Winding, Balance Force Concept, Crown

DAY 1 HANDS-ON SESSION

Demonstration cum Hands on in Endodontics Every

participant to perform:

CBCT scan of all teeth will be taken before hands on session

Access cavity preparation on freshly extracted molars
Working length using apex locators (A Practical Hands on Experience)
All work to be done with R.V.G. (Digital Imaging)
Access Cavities can be viewed with Dental LOUPES OR MICROSCOPE for
Observation & Discussion
Participants will prepare on extracted teeth, one using Step Down, one using
twisted file and one using the ProTaper Next. Course participants will be using
the same teeth for obturation on Day 2 of the course.

By the end of the day participants will have an understanding of:

Case pre-selection
Hand instrumentation using the Step Down technique
The application of a simplified single instrument technique
The application of ProTaper Next , TWISTED FILE ,
How to use the X-Smart , X-SMART IQ , SAF Endodontic Motor , reciprocating Motor
DAY 2 LECTURE SESSION

Lecture will cover the following topics:

Advanced Endodontics Changing face of Endodontics
Present day irrigants
Irrigation devices
Obturation of the root canal
Sealers and their characteristics
Single cone hydraulic condensation technique
Cold lateral condensation
Apical Gauging, Sizing of Gutta Percha
Down Pack & Back fill (thermohydraulic condensation technique)
Core Carrier based Obturation technique
Thermoplastic backfill technique
Post hole preparation
Strategies for managing endodontic pain
Strategies to treat curved canal
Tips to avoid instrument separation
decision making on multi visit or single visit root canal treatment
Hands-on obturation using the sybron elements System and lateral
condensation

DAY 2 HANDS-ON SESSION

Demonstration cum Hands on in Endodontics

Every participant to perform:
Root canal irrigation with different solutions and use of different irrigation
techniques
Apical gauging and customisation of the master cone
Application of sealer
Obturation with lateral condensation on one tooth
Obturation with thermo-plastised technique with elements obturation unit
Sectioning of the root to evaluate your obturation (observation under
microscope)
DAY 3 LECTURE SESSION

Post - Endodontic Restorations

The lecture shall cover the following topics:
Post endodontic restorations
Importance of coronal seal
Core its importance & various materials used
Old concept to new concepts ( emphasis on post less postendodontic
restoration)
Endocrowns , Amalgam dowels ,Nyaar cores
Use of root filled teeth as abutments
Types of post to choose indications n criterion
Newer post core materials like carbon fibre, zirconia, glass fibre & bonding
posts with resin composite cements step by step methods

DAY 3 HANDS-ON SESSION

Post - Endodontic Restorations

Every participant shall perform:
Participants work on steel/ titanium post & core on any two teeth which are
root canal treated

participants work on placing glass fiber post in any two teeth and technique of
placing glass fiber post

Recap of all three days and Take home message (4:45 to 5:15 pm)

Following completion of the three day course, participants

will be able to apply their knowledge to correctly select those
endodontic cases with which modern preparation and
obturation techniques can be applied. Participants will have an
understanding of the limitations of each technique enabling
them to effectively plan endodontic procedures within their
practicing arrangements. This will result in both reduced
levels of operator stress whilst optimising the technical
standard of their root fillings.
