C1: The rack is installed on a concrete floor and the cable way arrives at

C2: The rack is installed on a raised floor and the cable way arrives under
the rack.

C3: 75 Ohm PCM cables are installed

C4: 120 Ohm PCM cables are installed.

The following options apply:

O1: Install earthquake frame on raised floor


O2: Install X.21 cables

O3: Install STM1 and Ethernet cables.

The rack and installation kits are packed and delivered on site.

1.1.5 Final State


When installation is complete:

The rack is ready for commissioning

1.2.1 Prerequisites
The following prerequisites must be fulfilled:

The site conforms to the safety rules of the General Wiring Handbook
The site is ready to receive the racks, according to SPP-43.

1.2.2 Site-Specific Information


The following site-specific information is required:

Install A9125 TC presents all the checks needed before starting the installation
and all detailed tasks to be performed on site.

2.1 Before Going On Site


Before going on site, you must check that the following information and supplies
are available:

The customer has been informed of the:


Date
Time
Site name
Site address
Purpose of the operation

All Prerequisites (Section 1.2.1) are fulfilled

Personnel are available and ready for operation (refer to Scheduling


(Section 1.3)

Site-Specific Information (Section 1.2.2) is available and ready for operation

Hardware Tools (Section 1.4.1.1)are available and ready for operation

Installation Kits (Section 1.4.1.2) are available and ready for operation

Applicable Documents (Section 1.4.3) are available.

2.2 Before You Start (On Arrival at the Site)


2.2.1 Checks
Before you start, perform the following operations:

Check that all Prerequisites (Section 1.2.1) are fulfilled

Check applicable notifications and operating instructions (refer to the


Applicable Notifications List and Applicable Operation Instructions List)
Check the availability of all necessary tools, kits and supplies.

Check that the safety precautions have been taken in accordance with the
safety instructions described in the General Wiring Handbook

Check which Cases (Section 1.1.2) or Options (Section 1.1.3) apply


Complete the header field of the CCL. The CCL is completed as each
instruction is carried out.

Complete the Site Premises Inspection Form (CEL)


Check that the resistance of the anti-static wrist strap is greater than 1
Mohm and connect the anti-static wrist strap to the rack earth.

2.2.2 Required Knowledge


You must be familiar with the following:

The safety rules and precautions given in the General Wiring Handbook

How to document faults and anomalies as described in the General


Wiring Handbook

How to complete the Site Premise Inspection form

Grouped Task Sequence (Section 1.1.7).

2.3 Install Rack


There are two installation cases:

C1: The rack is installed on a concrete floor and the cable way arrives at
the top of the rack
C2: The rack is installed on a raised floor and the cable way arrives under
the rack.

2.3.1 Prepare Floor

To be compliant with EN 60950 rules, it is mandatory that the rack be fixed


to the floor (See the SPP).

Choose the installation case which fits your site:

C1: Fix to concrete floor

C2: Fix to raised floor.

2.3.1.1 Drill Concrete Floor (C1)

To drill the concrete floor:


1. Using the supplied template, mark the concrete foundation.
2. Drill holes in the concrete foundation 12 mm, h = 70 mm).

To drill the raised floor:
1. Using the template, cut a rectangular hole in the tile to pass the cables.
2. Using the template:
Drill the tile 12 mm

Drill the floor 12 mm, h = 60 mm +/-3 mm.

2.3.2 Rack Delivery and Positioning

To position the rack:


1. With the crane, lift the packaging.
2. Lift using the eyebolts of the rack.
3. Transport the pallet.
4. Unpack the rack.
5. Remove the bottom cover plate of the rack.
6. At the top of the rack, remove the craning eyebolts.

2.3.3 Prepare Site Cable Way


Choose the appropriate case for your site:

C1: Concrete floor, top cable entry

C2: Raised floor, bottom cable entry.

To run the cables:


1. Cut a hole in the site cable way.
2. Cover the cut-out with edge protection (1AD 01782 0001).
3. Fix the support to the rack.
4. Fix the separating corner to the vertical cable way.
5. Fix the vertical cable way to the support at the top of the rack.
6. Fix the vertical cable way to the site cable way.

There is no specific preparation of the cable way. Use the same rules for
cable separation.

To fix the rack to the raised floor:


1. Put the expanding plug (9) in the concrete floor (See Figure 3).
2. Screw the threaded rod (6), then the washer (8) and nut (7).
3. Screw the coupling nut (5) as shown in the figure below.
4. Screw the screw (1) with the washer (2).

Note: In this case, do not level the rack.

To fix the earthquake frame:


1. Assemble the earthquake frame using screw (3) and washer (4). (Refer
to Figure 4 above)
2. Using the earthquake frame, mark the concrete ground.
3. Drill the ground and fit the wall plug (8) (Refer to Figure 5 below.)
4. Fix the earthquake frame using washer (9) and screw (10)
5. Fix the rack to the frame using (5) (6) and (7).

2.4 Install Power Supply Cables


Use the procedures described below to:
Install protective earth and power cables in the site cable way (for both C1
and C2)

Connect the protective earth cable

Connect the DC 48 Volts power cables

Before making any electrical connections to the rack, ensure that the safety
instructions are followed.
It is essential that :

The electrical power supply is disconnected. Make sure that all breakers or
fuses devoted to the new rack in the site connection box are switched OFF

The protective EARTH (GND) must be connected to the equipment before


DC power cable connection. The Earth must be first connected at the site
side and secondly at the rack side.

2.4.1 Install Cables in Site Cable Way

To install the cables in the cable way:


1. Install the yellow/green cable in the power compartment of the cable way.
2. Install the DC 48V power cables in the power compartment of the cable way
(BAT A - BAT B and BAT RET cables).
3. Attach the cables with plastic tie wraps.
4. Cut the cables to a good length.

To run the cables:


1. Pass the three power cables and the GND cable in the metallic sheath.
2. Remove the bottom and the top cable gland of the rack.
3. Pass the metallic sheath in the first row as shown in Figure 9.
4. Cut the metallic sheath and fit a lug.
5. Screw the metallic sheath to the dedicated stud of the rack.
6. Screw the metallic sheath to the site cable way under the tiles.

2.4.4 Connect Earth Cable (GND)

Check if the equipment has to be connected in 3-wire or 2-wire power system.


If requested by the customer, it must be changed on site (see figures below).
Remark : The site extremity of the GND cable has to be labeled (example:
A9125 TC N 4).

To install the power cables:

To test the power supply:


1. At the site power cabinet, check that the DC 48 volts fuse breakers are
switched OFF (BAT A and BAT B).
2. At the rack side, on the connection box, with an ohmmeter, test that there
is no short circuit between -48 volts (BAT A or BAT B) and 0 volt (BAT RET).
3. At the rack side, do the same test between both -48V cables.
4. At the site power cabinet, switch ON the DC 48 volts fuse breakers
(BAT A and BAT B).
5. At the rack side, measure if 48 V is present on BAT A and verify the
correct polarity.
6. At the rack side, measure if 48 V is present on BAT B and verify the
correct polarity.
7. At the site power cabinet, switch OFF the site fuse breakers.

2.5 Install JSTCIF Subrack


2.5.1 Install JSTCIF Subrack in JRTC Rack
To install the JSTCIF subrack:
1. Unpack the JSTCIF subrack
2. Check that the subrack is not damaged
3. Fit the subrack in the TC rack at 3U under the lower JCTC subrack.

2.5.2 Connect Cables


To connect the cables:
1. Identify the two ALBAC power cables
2. At rear side of JSTRU remove the plug from position A5 and B5.
3. At rack rear side, connect first ALBAC cable between the A5 position on
JSTRU rear side and top T connector on JSTCIF backplane rear side
4. At rack rear side, connect second ALBAC cable between the B5 position
on JSTRU rear side and bottom T connector on JSTCIF backplane rear
side. See Figure 16.

5. Identify the HSI cables


6. At rack rear side, connect the HSI cables as given in the following table.
Three HSI cables must be connected between each JSTC subrack and the

7. Connect the two Ethernet JLCAT6 cables to the Ethernet connectors on


the JSTCIF backpanel. See Figure 16. One cable must be connected to
the upper position corresponding the JBTCIF 0, the second one must be
connected to the lower position corresponding the JBTCIF 1.

2.5.3 Complete Installation


To complete the installation:
1. Insert the JBTCIF boards in the slots in JSTCIF subrack.
2. Insert the SFP modules in the slots in JBTCIF boards.
3. Connect the optical fiber cables to the SFP modules.

To connect the X.21 cables:


1. Refer to the Site-Specific Information (Section 1.2.2) for the quantity and
cabling of X.21 cables.
2. With a marker, mark the cables (X01, X02, ...).
3. Remove 5 cm of skin at cable gland level.
4. Pass the cables in the cable gland the same way as for PCM cables.
5. Attach the cable as shown in the figure above.
6. If the connecting position is unknown, do not connect the cables.
7. Label the cables at each extremity, near the connectors.

2.9 Install Ethernet Cables (O3)

This task must be performed only if the STM1 option was selected at TC side.

Install the Ethernet cables as described in Install STM1 Optical Fiber Cables
(O3) (Section 2.8). The Ethernet cables must reach the rear side of the
JSTCIF subrack.
Refer to Site-Specific Information (Section 1.2.2) for the number of Ethernet
cables to install.

2.10 Before You Leave


1. Fit the bottom cover plate of the rack.

2. Close the doors.

3. Fit the labels to the rack (example A9125 TC n12)


4. Clear away packaging.
5. Leave the rack key to the door.
6. Clean the site. Do not put packages in the customer bin.

7. Leave the site tidy.
