National Association of County Planners Executive Committee Teleconference


August 16, 2017
Immediately Upon Conclusion of CPD meeting

1. Call to Order: David Heinold called the meeting to order at 1:36 p.m.
2. Roll Call: David Heinold, Megan Nelms, Mike Harper, Jacqui Kamp, Tim Brown, Robert Hill,
Michelle Fuson, Jack Morgan of NACo
3. Approval of June 21, 2017 Board Call Minutes:

Robert Hill made a motion to approve, Megan Nelms seconded. All were in favor.
4. Finance Report Mike Harper:

Not too many members. We need to get membership up, which should correspond
with a plan to engage membership to promote the NACP.
5. Membership Renewal & Recruitment Ideas:
Robert mentioned that with Jacks help, NACP will have a more prominent presence
and more materials at the next Legislative Conference.
Megan stated that we need an NACP project that brings attention to the group to
raise awareness.
Robert is going to do another newsletter for NACP.
6. NACO Annual Conference Update:
Jack mentioned that the national annual conference was held in July in Ohio.
Had about 2,000 attendees.
The conference announced the 100 best county practices at work
o 3 were specifically from the planning field, plus transportation and other
fields.
Roy Brooks from Texas is new President. His initiative is early childhood poverty
focus. More updates to come on that presidential initiative.
A lot of policy committees were in support of CDBG, Transportation funding.
Robert was part of the Justice and Public Safety group who proposed continued
support to the Emergency Management Standard for funding.
Focus on resiliency and solar smart (streamlining permitting processes).
Jack can provide links to the presentations from the conference.
October is Community Planning month
7. Other Business: None.
8. Next meeting, Oct. 18 at 1pm PST, 2pm MST, 3pm CST and 4pm EST
9. Adjournment Robert moved to adjourn the meeting. Jacqui seconded. All were in favor. The
meeting adjourned at 1:45 p.m.
