CDS Historical Monument: 3D Transformations of Functions Checkpoints Rubrics

GRADING BREAKDOWN
CHECKPOINTS DUE POINTS
INDIVIDUAL Checkpoint I: Research a historical monument of your interest. What is a historical Day 2 5 pts
(20%) monument? What made you choose this monument? How are graphs used in this
monument? Print out your research paper with the picture of your historical
monument. Your picture should take the entire page.

Identify and describe different types of functions used in your historical monument on
the same page as your monument picture page.
Checkpoint II: Use Desmos to find the graphs of your two dimensional historical Day 7 15 pts
monument. Identify at least 10 graphs (no more than 20) that include
- their domains and ranges.
- at least one graph of each type (linear, power, root, reciprocal, absolute,
and piecewise function).
- at least one transformation of each type (vertical and horizontal shifting,
reflecting graphs, vertical stretching and shrinking, and horizontal stretching
and shrinking).
Work must be done neatly and clearly labeled. Dont forget your Desmos print.
GROUP Checkpoint III: Design and draw blueprints of your historical monument that will be Day 8 10 pts
(65%) built at Dalton Square. Describe your historical monument and give it a creative
name. Appropriate scales are required.
Checkpoint IV: Use Desmos with the correct window [-10, 10] x [-10, 10] to create Day 11 55 pts
the graphs of your three dimensional historical monument. Ideally one layer should
represent one graph, but feel free to combine two or more graphs. All graphs should
be correctly numbered in a chronological order (one represents the graph on
top/front). Include your Desmos print, 3D model, and a brief description how you
will use these graphs to create your 3D model.

Identify at least 20 graphs (no more than 30) that include

- their domains and ranges.
- at least two graphs of each type (linear, power, root, reciprocal, absolute,
and piecewise function).
- at least two transformations of each type (vertical and horizontal shifting,
reflecting graphs, vertical stretching and shrinking, and horizontal stretching
and shrinking).
All work must be done neatly and clearly labeled.
Checkpoint V: Include two polynomial graphs with power of 3 or greater and one Day 13
transformation into your model. Include their domains and ranges.
Checkpoint VI: Include two rational functions and one transformation into your Day 18
model. Include their domains and ranges.
PRODUCT Team members name, class section, and title are correctly labeled on both poster Day 23 15 pts
(15%) and 3D models.
3D models have followed the blueprints.
Poster includes its creative title, adequate descriptions, blueprints, 3D model print,
and final Desmos. Different types of functions are clearly color labeled with the key.
Functions are correctly numbered in a chronological order (ONE represents the
graph on top).
TOTAL POINTS 100 pts
