NOTE ABOUT CHANGES IN THIS VERSION OF PROLINK II

Please read the ChangeLog.txt document, which can be found in your

ProLink II program folder, for information on what changes have
been made in this release of ProLink II.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

This release of ProLink II software requires a license key.

Please refer to the LicenseRequest.txt file provided in the
installation folder for further information about obtaining a
ProLink II license from Micro Motion Customer Support.

GENERAL SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

ProLink II is designed to run on Windows 2000 and 32-bit

Windows XP operating systems. Earlier versions of Windows
and 64-bit systems are not supported.

=====>(Typical System)

IBM PC Compatible
Pentium 200 or higher with at least 128MB RAM
80MB of Free Disk Space to install ProLink II
CD-ROM Drive
Video with at least 256 colors.

Note all hardware requirements listed by Microsoft for the operating

system installed on your computer must be satisfied.

Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3

or
Windows XP with Service Pack 1

Windows service packs are available from Microsoft on the web. Use of
the latest Windows service packs and updates is highly recommended.

RS-232 TO RS-485 CONVERTER BOX REQUIREMENTS

Older 16-bit ProLink software used a Micro Motion PC Interface (PCI)

box to convert RS-232 signals to RS-485 signals for the Modbus protocol.
Please note this older converter box will not function in combination
with ProLink II software. The correct RS-232 to RS-485 converter box
for ProLink II software is Black Box model IC521A-F or similar. Please
see the www.blackbox.com web site for converter box details. Contact
Micro Motion Customer Support for additional converter box suggestions.

USB TO RS-485 CONVERTER BOX REQUIREMENTS

Some laptop computers are no longer being supplied with dedicated RS-232
serial port hardware, so a means of converting from USB to RS-485 may be
required. The correct USB to RS-485 converter box arrangement for ProLink II
software is Black Box model IC138A in combination with the IC521A-F or
similar. Note the IC138A also requires software drivers to be installed so the
computer can recognize and use the USB device. Please see the
www.blackbox.com web site for converter box details. Contact Micro Motion
Customer Support for additional converter box suggestions.

RS-232 OR USB TO Bell 202 HART MODEM REQUIREMENTS

Older 16-bit ProLink software used a Micro Motion PC Interface (PCI)

box to convert RS-232 signals to Bell 202 signals for the HART protocol.
Please note this older HART interface will not function in combination
with ProLink II software. The correct RS-232 to Bell 202 converter box
for ProLink II software is the MACTek Viator model 010001 or similar.
For USB port to Bell 202 conversion, use MACTek Viator model 010031
or similar and check the 'Converter Toggles RTS' box on the ProLink II
Connect dialog. Please see the www.mactekcorp.com web site for HART
interface details. Contact Micro Motion Customer Support for additional
converter box suggestions.

NOTE: A Windows driver is provided with the USB Viator HART Interface
on separate CD. This driver must be installed before Windows will be able
to recognize the USB converter when it is plugged into the USB port.

TO INSTALL OR UPGRADE PROLINK II

To run ProLink II setup, double-click the Setup.exe file in the root

folder of your CD-ROM drive. Once the setup starts, simply follow the
directions presented on-screen.

If a previous version of ProLink II software is detected during setup,

the Setup program may ask you to remove it. In this event, please run
ProLink II Setup again after uninstallation is complete to install the
new software. If the previous version was licensed, the new version
should be installed to the same folder in order to reuse the previous
license.

After installation completes, the ProLink II program can be found in the

MMI program group available through the Start button on the Windows task
bar. A ProLink II program shortcut is also placed on the desktop for
convenience.

TO UNINSTALL PROLINK II

Use the Windows Control Panel Add/Remove Programs applet to uninstall

ProLink II software.

As the uninstallation proceeds, shared files that are no longer in use by

any application may cause a dialog to appear asking your permission for
removal. You should be able to safely remove any such files.

After uninstallation is complete, ProLink II license files will remain

behind for reuse by a subsequent installation. Note a later installation
of ProLink II must be to the folder where the license files are located
in order to reuse a prior license. If there is no further need of the
ProLink II license, the entire folder can be removed.

INSTALLATION TROUBLESHOOTING

Most ProLink II installations take place with no difficulties. In the

event this is not true for your installation, please log on to your
computer system as the Administrator and run the ProLink II setup again.
This should remedy most installation problems, but please note the user
name you will log in with later when using ProLink II must have security
system privileges on Windows 2000 and XP systems that allow reading
and writing the Windows registry. If necessary, please ask your system
administrator or IT department to ensure your user account has the
required privileges. Failure to do this will prevent ProLink II from
connecting with your devices when you later log on the system as yourself.

Finally, the RegisterProLinkII.bat file can be used to place information

needed by ProLink II COM objects in the Windows registry. This is normally
done automatically during ProLink II setup. The batch file provided simply
duplicates most of the setup functionality for troubleshooting convenience.
