Course Description:
Welcome to Algebra 1A. At Chippewa Falls Senior High School, students must earn three credits of math
to graduate. Chi-His Algebra 1A course is designed for those students who need to take a first year
algebra course but may be unable to maintain the pace of our Accelerated Algebra 1 course. It is
intended to be followed by the Algebra 1B course in the following year. This year long course covers the
topics normally covered in the first semester of Accelerated Algebra 1 with greater emphasis on review
of arithmetic skills and integration of some geometry topics.

Other Notes:
All are expected to follow the Student Code of Conduct found in the student handbook.
In my classroom, I have high expectations and are going to challenge you, but also be
there to support you.
Cell phones are not allowed. Phones must be turned off and put away when the bell rings
to start class. Failure to abide by this rule will result in a minor offense, and the next
offense it will be taken away to be picked up in the office. (Student Handbook)
Students found cheating will automatically receive a zero on the test and may also receive
a suspension from school. (Student Handbook)

Formative Activities (10%)
Homework - Homework will be assigned daily for practice. Assignments will be
checked the next day
for completion, Each assignment will be assigned the following marks and will
be recorded in Infinite Campus at the end of each unit.

0 Homework is not started
Math Review - completed daily for 2 points each day
Assessment Review - assigned prior to each unit assessment
Exit Tickets/Mini Assessments - given daily

Summative Assessments (90%) -


Unit Assessments - given at the conclusion of each unit.
Summative Assessments will not be returned to you. If you wish to see
your test, you must arrange a time with your instructor to view the test.

Assessment retakes: Retakes will be available for summative assessments. The retake
score will replace the original score even if the retake is lower. Students will be allowed
to retake sections of the unit assessment. Students will have 1 week from the time the
assessment is reviewed as a class to complete a retake.
Retake Requirements:

Teacher/Student meeting to go over errors on the original


assessment
All unit homework is turned in at the quality level
Completed test review for the unit
Completed Retake Test Form is turned in
Semester Grade
40%(Quarter 1 or 3) + 40%(Quarter 2 or 4) + 20%(Final exam)

*Comprehensive Semester Final: This means you will be tested on all material we have
learned throughout the semester. You have a folder for this class and I expect every Friday
Test you take to be in that folder. These tests will be the best study guides for the Semester
Final
Missed Assessments:
If you are absent for an assessment you will be expected to take the assessment the day
you return during class.

Extra Credit: Extra credit is rarely if ever provided. If an extra credit opportunity should arise,
it will be given to the entire class. Students may not request extra credit.
