An irresistible tourist destination in Goa is Dudhsagar Falls, a four tiered waterfall located on the Mandovi River. It lies 60 kilometers away from Panaji. It is one of
the tallest waterfalls in India with a height of 310 meters and an average width of 30 meters. It is protected by the famous Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and
Mollem National Park among the Western Ghats.
The tourists arrive here find it stunning due to the presence of the thick deciduous forests with a rich biodiversity. The monsoon is the most favourite climate for
many tourists when the waterfalls become abundantly overjoyed with the gushing water. There are two routes to reach the falls; one starting from Kulem as trekking
and then there is the jeep trail till the bottom of the waterfall and the second one is via the railway track.
Dudhsagar waterfalls trek is the major activity adventure seekers love to do in Goa. Dudhsagar rail stop is the one near to the falls which does not show you a
proper platform and you have to climb down the steep ladder of the rail compartment to walk about a kilometer on the track to reach the falls. A 200 meter train
tunnel exhibits the biggest challenge by imposing the dark tunnel that makes your walk bit tougher.
Best time to visit: monsoon and soon after monsoon are the best time to visit the falls.

vary as Rs.300 and Rs.5000 respectively.

240 square kilometers large protected area situated near the town of Molem which has a lot of important temples and the famous Dudhsagar Falls. The protected
area was known as Mollem Game Sanctuary and later in 1969, it was declared as a wildlife sanctuary and the name was changed to Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary.
The core area inside that covers around 107 square kilometers was declared as Mollem National Park in 1978. The most pristine greenery is located inside the park
and that is classified as West Coast tropical evergreen forests, West Coast semi evergreen forests and moist deciduous forests. Also, the sanctuary houses several
perennial water sources that act as the major water provider to the park and the nearby areas.
There are a huge variety of animal species and bird species living in harmony inside the sanctuary. Mammals include black panther, Bengal tiger, barking deer,
common langur, flying squirrel, gaur, Malabar giant squirrel, porcupine, leopards, bonnet macaque, civet and the bird family includes drongo, emerald dove, fairy
bluebird, greater Indian hornbill, Indian black woodpecker, grey headed myna and many more. Along with them, there are different types of butterflies, reptiles,
insects and similar species found inside the sanctuary.
Entry timings: 08:30 am to 04:00 pm on all days.
