We have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Representative to join our team at our Distribution

Centre located in Delta, British Columbia. This position will be responsible for managing Work Safe BC
disability claims and modified return to work programs. This position will be responsible for administering
health and safety policies and procedures, training and advice to the Distribution Centre and provincial
locations regarding health and safety issues, legislation and occupational policy. Overall, you will assist in the
development and implementation of occupational health and safety prevention initiatives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparing and enforcing policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law
Coordinates and champions health and safety activities and training for the Distribution Centre and
all retail locations.
Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
Reviews and analyzes functional safety activities and programs to determine training requirements
for safety; Prepares a training matrix and schedule to ensure mandatory training needs meet
legislative compliance.
Coordinates incident investigations and provides effective follow-up for corrective actions.
Promotes a proactive safety strategy and ensures worker safety and cost containment for all claims.
Manages all WorkSafe BC disability claims and modified return to work programs; Initiates and
manages all WorkSafe BC appeals.
Ensures adherence to regulated and documented safety standards, including conducting monthly
inspections, hazard analyses, and audits as well as identifying and assigning corrective actions for
workplace hazards noted during property inspections.
Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.
Investigate accidents and incidents to determine cause(s) and manage workers compensation
claims.
Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
Monitors and evaluate the effectiveness of the occupational health and safety programs to ensure
compliance with applicable internal and external regulations.
Coordinates meetings and assists with Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC).
Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics, via weekly and monthly reporting.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Enrolled in or completed OH&S certificate program; post-secondary education in business, human
resources or related field are considered assets.
Minimum of 3 years related experience.
Solid computer skills including MS Office.
Knowledge of applicable OH&S and WorkSafe policy.
Motivated, well organized, and able to make sound decisions.
Strong customer focus, results oriented and able to work with multiple conflicting priorities and
timelines, and occasional travel required.
