COURSE DESCRIPTION

Environment science stands at the interface between humans and earth and explores the
interactions and relations between them. This relationship will need to be considered in
virtually all future decision making. This course considers a full spectrum of views and
information in an effort to establish a solid base of understanding and a sustainable formula
for the future. This course will also help students to explore the environmental issues and
connect them in framework of ideas and values that will equip students to become part of
the solution to many of environmental problems confronting us.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

To acquire knowledge and understanding about the earth as a live support system; basic
concepts of interactions between human being, living and non-living systems; technologies
and environmental ethics that can be used to exploit natural resources for human need, as
well as to conserve and restore the nature; current and future challenges that will be
impacting our quality of live.

At the completion of this course, students will:

1. Be able to understand all of the major environmental issues that confront our society
and help to define the subject matter of environment science.
2. Be able to recognize environmental scientific principles and concepts that form the
knowledge base of our interaction with the natural environment.
3. Be able to know the latest environmental science information available by making
full use of resources such as the internet, books and journals, every possible statistic
has been brought up to date
4. Be able to assess options or progress made in solving environmental problems

METHODS OF INSTRUCTIONS
Classroom instruction consists of lectures and practical problem solving, supplemented by
visual aids designed to assist the student to successfully meet the courses learning
objectives.
