3D Art Syllabus 2017

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This art course provides opportunities to continue developing art skills related to REQUIRED MATERIALS LIST
three-dimensional processes and projects while using the Elements of Art and 9 x 12 Sketchbook [or
Principles of Design. Traditional and experimental art experiences will be provided to Composition Notebook)
promote critical and creative thinking. Students will participate in a wide range of #2 Pencil
experiences using advanced media and additive or subtractive sculptural techniques
designed to build artistic and creative confidence. SUGGESTED MATERIALS LIST
*The first semester will cover the 3D portion of the fulll Exploring 2-and 3-Dimensional Scissors
Art course. Markers

GRADING
The following percentages will be used for each six-week grading period:

STUDENTS WILL
create three-dimensional artworks using a variety of media and techniques
identify major artists, artist styles, and artwork materials
begin to analyze their own artwork, other students work, and the work of well-known artists through critiques,
discussion, and in-class writing
develop their own style by creating sketches to plan artworks
maintain a visual journal in which to keep class notes, sketches, observations, and vocabulary
improve verbal skills by learning the visual vocabulary and apply those terms during class discussions, critique, and
projects
problem-solve, create, and have fun

ATTENDANCE
Maintaining good attendance is an important component of academic achievement. ART STUDIO RULES
Please make your best effort to attend school every day. Failure to maintain 90% Ninja Entrance
attendance in a course may prevent you from advancing to the next grade level. Raise Hand

MAKE-UP & EXTRA CREDIT POLICY Be Sweet
For each day absent, students will have one day to complete make-up work. The time Imagine and Create
allotted in class to complete work will usually be enough for students to create the Volume Control
quality of work needed to be successful. Extra credit opportunities will be available. Sparkling Clean

DUE DATE & LATE POLICY


Class time for projects must be used diligently to complete projects by the assigned due date. After the due date, class
time will not be available for completing projects; students must complete work on their own time.
